Windows Start button 8

I have windows 8 and I hate where is the beginning. I wish that my old switch back. How can I go about it?

Original title: Start button

Hi Sheryl,

I wish to inform you that Windows 8 is designed with a splash instead of a boot menu screen. If you want the Start button, you can upgrade to 8.1 Windows and you will see the Start button. The button Windows start 8.1 will take you to the start screen, as you can see in Windows 8.

To learn more on the start screen, click on the link below:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/start-screen-tutorial

There are some third party software that can offer the option of a start menu in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. However, we do not support or promote any of these third-party software.

In addition, if you like the old way menu start working, you can wait for Windows 10 to launch. You will find a menu starting with a lot of new features. To learn more about the next Windows 10, you can click on the link below and see all the videos:

Hope this information was useful.

I have a Pavilion X 2 11 - h003sa running Wwindows 8.1. It's less than a week and without any changes to the system (no software update or driver installs) after a restart, the Start button stopped working and when I try to dock with the keyboard, the start on the tablet button remains lit (but unfounded) and the keyboard does not work. By that, I mean the key and the trackpad do not react, are not all usb devices, and even the charger shows not only plugged into Windows. The orange charging light lights well.

    Hello, James.

Your X 2 is perhaps responsible got stuck on something, he is unable to perform; This problem can be self-correcting after a full stop and normal reboot of your tablet. Since it is not always easy to determine the power state of a Tablet, I suggest you make sure that is turned off by pressing the power button for 10 seconds, then release. wait another 10 seconds then press the Windows Start button. You should not feel any momentary vibration when you press the Windows key. When you are certain that the X 2 is turned off, try to start normally. I hope that your tablet will resume its normal operation, but if not, I suggest you contact your region (UK?) HP support because several interactive steps may be needed to determine the cause & fix for your problem; which can lead to a very lengthy process if attempted by the rear "n" following exchanges of the forum.

Find your HP contact information & support options by scrolling to the bottom of this page, to this you see "On HP" on the left. Click on "Contact us" just below this to see the choices to your selected region or country...

I hope you come back soon with news that your tablet is running normally. However, we will also try to answer questions if necessary.

    Good luck!

Under XP, when I pressed the power button I could put it "Ask Me what to do." This is very useful for two reasons:

    Hello

Yes, there are only work-a-rounds and that is why I suggested that
thread. There are also a few details about why he was abducted that
are especially that in general as it caused more problems than it solved. Then
for those who have used the function correctly, it is a concern when trying
to restore its functionality. To my knowledge, is not 100%
this case, just ability cannot be added in by a registry setting
as support has been totally removed. If this is the case, then the work - a-
towers or possible 3rd party solutions are the remaining options.

Please let us know if you find a better solution.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows restarts by itself. Event Viewer says pushed user control.alt, delete or start button when I did not.

    Auto restart is disabled.

Please post that those event (s) so we can see what they look like and provide more information about your system/question:

Here is a method to display specific information about individual events.

To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

The most interesting newspapers are usually the Application and the system.

Some newspapers such as security and Internet Explorer may be completely empty or have just a few items.  The default settings for XP wants do not connect all this activity, unless you need to solve a problem in these areas.  If you enable logging for them the papers fill up quickly and could adversely affect the performance of your system with all the extras (often unnecessary) activity.

If you have Microsoft Office installed, it has its own newspapers, and they can be empty or occasional boring activity very little or, if there is no problem with your desktop applications.  It's normal.

Not every event is a problem, some are informational messages that things work very well, and some are warnings.

However, no event should defy reasonable explanation.

Each event is sorted by Date and time.  Errors will be red Xs, warnings will have yellow! s. information messages have white are.  Not every error or warning event means that there is a serious question.   Some are excusable at boot time when Windows starts.  Try to find only the events to date
and the time around your problem.

If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove personal information from your information
After having stuck if you are forced to do so.

If you paste an event, it will look something like this annoying system startup event:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Service Control Manager
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 7035
