I have a HDD partitioned - C drive only has 30 G - and I'm running out of space. The only thing on the C drive is Windows and any update of software that I can't install it on the other drive. I constantly receive updates Microsoft security - and it keeps taking more space.

I think I deleted all unnecessary software.

Upgrading to Windows 7 free up some hard drive space?

    Hi jehsc,

Windows 7 is essentially Windows Vista with additional coding so it will not less space than Vista, it can take up quite a bit more. You cannot extend the partition (assuming you have unallocated space next to your current partition)? My system Windows 7 (Ultimate) as well as other software applications takes up 42 GB of space, but I allocated 200 GB of space for my Windows 7 Partition. Obviously the 200 GB is not really necessary, but I have the space on my hard drive, so I return to Windows 7. I do not, however, make like you and installed the software on a second partition. The main reason why I don't do it is because, frankly, I do not think that this happened so every advantage in terms of performance.

    Hello

Well, if you have a free space on the HARD drive if you want, you can create a two or three partitions. New partitions can have different sizes. In this case, I propose to use the magic of Partitions. This tool is very nice and easy to use and has many useful features.
    Try it.

  • My hard drive is filling up all the available space on my hard drive

Original title: my drive is 'eat' himself!

Something happens in my system which occupies all the available space on my hard drive.

I deleted everything that I possible can, but as soon as I create a space that it disappears.

There is apparently a function involving my e-mail archives or my installation "restore."

Recreate the data but do not delete the file/data who is who replaces it.  What has

happened in the past, but at that time, it was the result of my control one inadvertently

email replication function... this time I got nothing done to cause this duplication of work.

When it started to affect my system this time I looked for things to remove and found

many of my emails in the "sent" folder had been duplicated.  I immediately removed all

These duplicates and has acquired an important place but in a short period of time the

    disc had been filled again.

I ran anti-virus (McAfee) and combating malicious programs (Malwarebytes) without finding

anything that can be causing my problem.

  • Deleted files are still too much space on my hard drive, how to make their deleted permanently?

I deleted a large file containing about 60 gigs of my hard drive by sending to the trash and empty the collector, because the car was full.  All files were gone, my computer does not recognize free space and won't let me not defragment the hard drive or save any new data on the hard drive, saying that he is too full.  What should I do?

Either you have an application that saves you from yourself (Norton used to have what we call the "Norton Protected Recycle Bin" which has given a second chance to restore files) or if you have something else take place.

Did you restart after having emptied the Recycle Bin?

Have you run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK)

Assuming that the answers to the two questions above is Yes and you are still weak on the disk, download and run JDiskReport, space that will graphically show you what files are taking up space on your hard drive.  For more advice, post back with the identification of the culprits.

If you do not have enough space to install JDiskReport (about 2 MB), here are some ways to save space:

    • Turn off System Restore (right-click on desktop > properties > system restore > check the 'Disable the the system restore on all drives' > OK)
    • Disable Hibernation (Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate > uncheck > OK)
    • Disable the Indexing Service (instructions here)

When you turn the system restore, make sure that only your system (usually C:\) partition is monitored and then click the settings button in the System Restore tab and adjust the amount of space used by restoring the system to 1 GB.

  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore this issue is close to 100 GB. I have no space on my hard drive. Yet on my other pc, this folder is empty.

Hello.  I have 2 pc.s. both with vista home premium installed. they do not have the same programs installed. the path of the problem folder is the following. C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore. on my laptop, this folder is absolutely empty. on the desktop the virtualstore folder is big close to 100 GB. that totally filled my hard drive. is it possible to disable this folder safely, so I can free up space on my hard drive

    Hello, maveric8673

    Do you recognize the files?
If there are files that you saved in a specific program in the folder?

It is usually more old programs will try to save files / settings to a location requiring the administration of rights which translates the writing files in the folder Windows virtualstore. A marker is also created so that if the program accesses this file again, it will point to the file in the virtualstore folder. If you use an older or not designed for Vista program and its economy at this place, try to update the program.

According to the files, removing items from the folder may affect programs, but yes, you should remove them manually.

I'm always running out of space on the hard drive of my MacBook Pro. The most important issue seems to be the library and Documents Mobile is the largest. But when I look inside I find the name of the folder as if by magic going on MacBook Pro / My Files / Library / Mobile Documents for MacBook Pro / My Files / library / iCloud Drive.  I thought that the purpose of paying extra for space on my iCloud drive should free up space on my hard drive.

iCloud is a synchronization system, not an external 'hard drive '. If you delete them from your computer, they will delete icloud.

When you add items to a project can then remove the clips?  I'm trying to free up space on my hard drive. Thank you.

Not while you're still editing the project.  When you have completed the project and shared it and are sure that you do not want to do any editing more far, you can delete the whole project.

If you do a significant amount of iMovie editing you really need to put your libray (ies) on a large external hard drive.  Another thing you can do is to divide your work between different libraries and move those that are not currently on a removable drive.
