Windows taskbar, jumplist missing ToolTips

I have two computers, both running Windows 7 x 64. One of them, I get ToolTips in the toolbar items of jumplist indicating the full path of the file to open, on the other, they are missing. When I have two files with the same name in different directories, it's a blind player, or I need to use another method to open this file. This includes at least the Microsoft Word 2010 documents and solutions in Visual Studio 2010/2013.

So there must be a difference between the two systems. Does anyone know how to turn the ToolTips of the jumplist again point, or where to start looking for the differences?

  • Open "regedit" as administrator.
  • [Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced\\\]
  • Find "ShowInfoTip", right click and select "Edit" and change the value to "1".
  • Open the Task Manager and select the processes tab.
  • Select explorer.exe and press DELETE, and then click the end process in the Windows Task Manager dialog box that opens.
  • Only select the Applications tab and click the new task... button in the lower right corner.
  • Type "explorer" in the drop-down list and click OK.
  • When the taskbar reappears, all ToolTips bar task, including ToolTips of jump list works now.

Ouch! Please do not yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally,
    in different cases.

    You ask about the taskbar?
The taskbar is resizable, like a window, and it can be set to zero lines of ups. Maybe it's your problem, and fixing that should be the first thing you should try. You may have accidentally resized to zero high lines. Place the cursor on the bottom of the screen and it up and down a little until it turns into a two-headed arrow. Click on, and then drag it to the desired size.
If this does not work, it may be zero lines high on another facet of the
the screen, try the above on all four sides.
Finally, if none of these work, go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm, click T, and then on the taskbar, click on taskbar is missing.

You can click the maximize button in the upper right to leave the mode full screen or empty space of a right-click on a toolbar and use "exit full screen" or press F11.

Got a message saying my computer may be infected and my Windows Installer is missing...! How can I solve?

    Hi JohnYusko,

    1. have you done any hardware changes or software on your computer before this problem?

    2. do you have security software installed on your computer?

    3. when exactly you receive this error message?

    (a) I recommend you run a virus scan online from the link given below and check if the problem persists:

    Microsoft safety scanner

Also, make sure that you have the latest update of the software antivirus installed on your computer, so that it works correctly.

    (b) you can also download & run Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer.

Due to Windows Installer, you try to unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer and check if the problem persists. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. initially, box run, type "msiexec /unreg" and press ENTER on the keyboard.

    b. Type "msiexec/regserver" and press ENTER on the keyboard.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • Windows XPconverted is missing

All of a sudden my Windows XPconverted is missing. I have an exclamation mark when trying to access the machine. I was able to use 2-3 weeks without incindent, and I made no changes since then. I'm Mac OS 10.8.6. Help, please.

According to the com.vmware.fusion.plist folder, the packaging of the Virtual Machine was observed to "/ Users/vickietolbert/Library/Parallels/winxp.2/WindowsXPconverted.vmwarevm" however, command to collect information of technical support of VMware Fusion collects no information on this subject and I must assume because it no longer exists.  However, if it still exists to this place then you should be able to see it in the Finder and if not then you should be able to use Spotlight or the Terminal equivalent mdfind if no disk inventory X to locate.

If you don't place not her and she will not run, let us know so that we can diagnose the issue.
