Windows technology Department

I rec would have 4 call until this morning of 315-215-3520 who claims to be Windows Tech Dept and says I have corrupted files and they cannot fix and needs my help.  Is it a scam?

They claim to have the confidential identification number of my computer than Microsoft and I know that proves they are Windows technical support.

Hello

It's a scam.

We have all the errors and warnings in our Event Viewer, which is another ploy they use to scare you

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

You are the only person who knows if you gave them remote access.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

  • people keep calling from 'Windows Tech Dept' Indian accents telling that there is a problem with my computer at risk

    I've been deflecting calls from people who say there is a problem with my computer, claiming they are "Windows technology department.  A woman comes to call.  She said her name was Fiona and his identification number is 1104.  Call back phone number is 1-866-539-8674.  She was very beautiful, but persistent.  I got his information to call her back.  She said that whenever we get on the Internet, some viruses or damage of some sort gets into our computer.  She wanted to go on the computer right then, and she show me all error messages or something like this.  I said my husband was using the computer and I was in the middle of something, which was true.

    I know that we have received an error message that Windows XP is not 'more protected by Microsoft' and basically we should buy a new computer.  Is this related?  What exactly means that Windows XP is no longer supported?

    Windows has anyone who receives messages and codes of error for individual computers and pay people to call users and warn them of the disappearance to come computer threats?  Calling us that part just seems unlikely.

    Y at - it a Tech Department Windows calling proactively computer users?  I should do in addition to using Norton antivirus or McAfee (or what my husband has on this computer) to protect us from viruses and hackers?

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Windows Tech Dept called me to let me know of activity on my computer.

    I'm in California.  I just got a call from the United Kingdom of a person saying they were working for the Department of Windows technology. They said that my computer has junk & malicious spyware on it and they need me to start my computer and go overboard with them and take care of it.  Do you know what it is?

    I have to believe that Microsoft would have people calling everyone in the world with Windows to go personally on their computer with them to solve a problem that does not know the person they call is?

    Fake phone calls to technical support

    Such unsolicited telephone calls are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

  • black screen no beeps or messages on laptop with Windows 8 o he

    Hello

    1. I had a laptop computer of a person who had the power led, wifi turned on, the battery on but no light on HD LED. the screen was all black whitout messages, I have attached the laptop screen nested to be sure that the screen was not damaged. but on extern screen the laptop screen was still dead. so I didn't know that the screen was not the problem, the only thing I thouthg to replace HD with nested one (of the same type) so I did but problem stiil exist. What can be the problem, black screen whitout any beeps or any message, all LIGHTS are lighthing in addition to HD LED,.

    a friend of mine who worked 25 years in the information technology Department told me that the problem can the bios, or some bad update of the bios.

    But what you do the thing, can memory cause such a problem.

    THA laptop is ASUS X501A with windows 8 on it.

    I do not call ASUS I myself work with computers.

    Thank you

    Johan

    It could be the BIOS, but I bet it's more likely that the video card is broken and no longer send any signal.  A BIOS would have normally caused a beep or something.

  • MSN has a "Certified Technology Dept" which calls people to warn them of their computer problems

  • Display problems with updates on Windows 7

    I used Windows 7 without problem for 2 years, but since 6 weeks, EACH Windows 7 update caused display problems (halos, horizontal and pink & light green streaks forming). My hardware withdraws like ok, so my only solution was to uninstall updates. I'm an artist, and my computer became unusable as tool-art. I noticed that people who use Windows 10 have the same problem. It's time to (gag) switch to Mac? Does anyone have a solution for this?

    "We noticed that the issue has not been marked as an answer yet and we were wondering if you solved the problem."

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yes, reinstalling my favorite of all time, Windows XP SP3 - that support has been extended. After weeks of removal of partitions, re-formatting of C drive, re - install Windows 7 and hacking and tweaking, I gave up. Then, when I started transferring files from 7 and re - install the software, my screen went new loony.
    Uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader removed the problem of XP.
    Eventually, I'll buy a laptop to the internet and use XP on this computer for my art and animation programs. Gossip says Internet 7 and 8 are not as secure as XP, so I'm in no hurry to buy. People are the display problems on Windows 10, too. So maybe there is a mole of Apple in the Windows technology crew.
    Not really new. Millions of people have undergone this type of scam, claiming to come from their supplier, their bank or PayPal. People also get phone calls claiming to be from Microsoft, asking them to give the appellant access to their machine. It's all fraudulent.
  • Anyone receiving calls from Microsoft Windows (call center from India by the sounds of it) saying that you have a corrupted file? Or is it a scam?
    We received a call last night from someone who claimed to be the Windows technical department saying that our computer has a file corrupted Microsoft on this issue.  First name: Richard Williams.  0261 004030 callback number.  Sounds like an Indian call center.
    I can't believe that cold Microsoft calls people.
    A quick search on google news suggests that people in Britain were targeted by something similar.
    It's a scam.
  • Suddenly, Windows said that it is not authentic
    My computer is hacked.  Activation of Windows technology made me know that I am not under Genuine Windows.  I bought Windows 7 and 3 months later installed an upgrade.  Windows activation technology told me to buy Windows, even if I already bought.  Does anyone know if Microsoft would get directly involved in this situation that someone is poorly represent their name and their software.  Do I need to buy again or Microsoft will replace due to circumstances.  Your comments please.
    Thank you
    Ignore my last post, if you notice - it is no longer relevant.
    Your problem is simple (hopefully).
    This may simply be caused by a bad set of drivers of technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology-
    Intel rapid storage driver installation
    try to download and install them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730
    Once complete, please restart twice, then after another MGADiag report.
  • Problems with Synaptics Trackpad, and Windows 8
    I use a HP Pavilion dm4 with a Synpatics PS/2 port touchpad.
    I look down.
    I had a new upgrade to Windows 8 Pro and had installed the Synaptics touchpad drivers.
    At the beginning, that it worked well. I had use of all the features like the shots of border and multitouch gestures
    That lasted only a few days, however, how she returned to regular feature where the only thing I had was available to scroll. It seemed back in the functionality of the Windows 7 driver.
    And, whenever I tried to use the Synaptics control center it tells me that it cannot find that a connected Synaptics touchpad, which is strange, because it is without a doubt detected by Windows as the touchpad as I a see in Device Manager.
    The exact message is "If you have installed another PS/2 pointing device driver, please uninstall the synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You must then reinstall your device pointing to your external device driver again. "It makes no sense, because I certainly have not connected an external device. The uninstall does not work - see the following.
    I tried the following:
    1. I went to the Device Manager and tried to update drivers touchpad there... nothing helps, of course. He said that my version was up-to-date.
    2. I tried to reinstall the driver. If I uninstall the driver, he invites me to restart the computer... the problem is that when I did it and the computer has restarted, or the keyboard or the touchpad responded. I had to do a system restore to be able to use again.
    What is a solution for this? I'm kinda stuck. I can try to do a refresh as soon as I have my installation media but I won't for awhile.
    Hello.
    We had the same problem with a Compaq laptop.
    Windows Update has updated the synaptics driver with a version that not working with shots.
    I removed this driver and had no toutchpad and keyboard work.
    With a mouse, I could use the screen keyboard on (someware sits on the lockscreen) and I was able to reinstall the hp synaptics driver.
    I put the update driver in hidden Windows update Department. Don't remember how exactaly.
  • Windows 8 a piece of junk, or I did something wrong
    We got a new comp preinstalled with windows8 and IE10. I knew it would be a big change in XP that I used before.  I asked countless questions in the Microsoft community to different things and one person has responded with a number of things to check... I could not because what I was asked to look for was not there, or what they described was totally different. EG: they told me to go to the settings in the charming bar and hit, well he did not part. I looked today and the only things left on the list of settings (search, tiles and help). What is happening, is this model removing things with a clean mind.  It tends to put things on my homepage as well. Not a lot of other work on that either, as it should be.  Someone please help.
    I find as funny, if you have any questions about windows8, you pay for a windows technology to talk to you. It's like they are even behind their product once they have your money.
    Please go here and watch the videos on the use of win 8
    I ripped most of my music library on my phone Windows 8. In the past months, no matter how old or new, the cd is, no metadata is transferred to my Xbox music app after that I have to copy one cd, other than the album cover art and list of song. The settings are correct on the phone. Only difference is newest laptop. In my view, that there Windows 8 or 8.1.
