  At the start, and sometimes even if the computer is running, the windows of time always comes back to the year 2005, while maintaining the right hour, minute, second, day and month.

  If I read your messages, I have that, amongst other times, pick up this always happens at startup.  This is the case, you can first check that the time is set correctly in the BIOS before you boot into Windows.  If it is, and, as you think, a program is causing this problem so the task is to know which.  A lot of startup programs each time you start Windows.  The boot configuration with minimum nude of running processes is called "Safe Mode".  So start your computer Safe Mode (press F8 as your computer starts).  When he arrives, check the date and time.  If it of OK and has not changed, then one of the other optional components must be the cause.  To narrow down that one, you can use "msconfig" to toggle the startup items groups until you find the one that is causing your problem.  The procedure for doing this is described in this article:

  I start by disabling everything in the "Startup" tab  If this solves the problem, then I start allowing things in this tab a little at a time until I have find the culprit. If the Startup tab does not resolve the problem, then I try disabling items in the tab "Services".  I usually start with non-Microsoft services.

  Of course on the machine who recently had this problem, you could try a shotgun approach and do a simple "System Restore" to a point in time before this problem.  It will probably fix the problem, but you will not know what caused it.

  can you please help me to decide if now is the time to change the thermal paste on my processor on laptop HP 4530 s. I have this laptop for almost 5 years now and lately I noticed significant overheting. Of course, the fan is always on. Home, take a look at the screenshot of Speedfan application. As you can see Core 0 (I guess that's the CPU and sometimes reaches more than 60 ° C).

  Since the fan was cleaned not so long time ago, I thought I'd give laptop to some experts to disassemble, remove the radiator and change the thermal paste. I've seen many of these videos on you tube.

  Thank you for your help Hüffer. I also found on many places that these temperatures are almost normal. However, given that the laptop is almost five years I decided nevertheless to change thermal past and for cleaning the air in detail.

  My work computer is in a domain.  I am running Windows XP Pro SP3.  Due to the large size of the 'My pictures' folder I redirected it to on of my local readers rather than let him lie on our server (Windows 2003 SBS).  I also redirected "My music" folder on a local drive and the 'My Favorites' folder on the server where the "My Documents" folder is also.  It works very well without any problem, most of the time.  In some way, some, but not all, windows updates will change the location of the "My pictures" folder on the server.  When this happens, I know that as soon as I login after the reboot because it will take about an hour before the computer can be used.  The reason for this is that the folder is moved (not copied) on the server with a connection to ethernet 100 base-T.  My another stay of redirected folders where they are supposed to be, just the 'My pictures' folder is moved.  I tried to find all the registry entries that have to do with the location of this folder and found only two, those who originally, I changed to redirect the folder in the first place.  This has happened for the 4th time, when I greeted Windows Update to install the latest updates last night (13/02/13).  It becomes very boring and time would trust because I have to put the folder on the local drive and reset the folder redirection and the whole process takes about an hour, plus time lost after reboot.  Help please.

• Setting Windows time - Revisted

  I know it is a lot of information about that, but after bearing on questions of time and get confused by what I saw on some virtual machines, I thought I would check to see if there was any update 'best practices' in this area.

  My understanding was:

  (1) disable time service Windows

  (2) to activate the VMware tools to synchronize the time with the ESX host

  Allowing them both to operate at the same time can causing fights between the two.

  Then, I found this article, which suggests the contrary - let the Windows time running and turn off the synchronization of time VMware tools:

  What started my confusion, it is that I found a bunch of Windows 2008 R2 servers with the time service Windows, manual, but something value was manually started their.  As they ran time sync time WIndows and VMware Tools (which, as I said above, I thought was bad).  If I was trying to understand what began this service manually.  Anyone know what could cause this (other than human intervention)?  Should I have put to the people with reduced mobility in my model instead of manual as part of a general use better which could prevent this?

  So I guess my questions are:

  (1) use the service of time Windows or VMware Tools time synchronization

  The recommendations changed a few times. My answer above is based on the latest recommendations that I know and like I usually do for my clients. (and it works)

  The reason to synchronize time with domain controllers in a domain also eliminates problems with for example Kerberos tickets.

  Since the upgrade to CC (could also be a problem in CS6, can't remember), files window is always displayed as the top of the window.
