Windows Update agent install not automatically

Hello world

I'm a network administrator for a school district.  We have almost 800 windows machines and for a few months, each machine I'm going and open Windows Update, will ask me to install the new version of the windows update service before other updates settle.  Why isn't WSUS automatically do that?  I think that computers will not update until what this new software update installs.  I can't go to every single computer and click on install.  I tried to download and install the agent manually, but it does not seem to solve the problem.  I'd appreciate any help I can get.

You will have to go on Support of Windows 7 forums on the following link to help solve your problem:

  • Windows Update Agent fails to detect the updates (Windows Server WSUS with SCCM)

    Howdy

We recently integreated WSUS in SCCM 2012, which means WSUS updates are now provided through the software Center instead of through the Windows Update client. This does not work as expected.

However, we are using Kaspersky Endpoint Security, which has a function of software vulnerability report that we want to use. This could inform us of all the machines that do not have all their updates installed. It is a simpler than using SCCM reports interface. When searching for vulnerabilities, Kaspersky Network agent uses the Windows Update Agent service to find updates in WSUS. This function does not work on our customers, where it can detect a single Windows Update. I have a transcript example from the WindowsUpdate.log file below:

We also have in our devices infrastructure traditional WSUS running on a different server (not SCCM), which are reports in fine and properly, Kaspersky detects missing updates.

We determined with Kaspersky that the problem lies in the Windows Update agent and not their software. Can anyone tell if the question is because we use SCCM for updates (and therefore Windows Update agent is not working properly) or that there is another issue that can be resolved?

  • Does WSUS / Windows Update Agent reinstall updates not installed

I looked for an answer to this all morning and probably I am suffering from block of the researcher and cannot choose the right keywords, but I can't find the answer.

In our environment - Server 2003, WSUS 3.0, XP desktop computers - we have finally approved XP SP3 for client machines and had some problems and some a few machines requiring to uninstall SP3.  Is WSUS / Windows Update Agent try to reinstall the service pack again at the next scheduled update (detection as absent but approved), or he knows that he was already installed once and then uninstalled and do not try to install it again?

If this is the first, how can I let SP3 approved for the rest of the Organization and prevent its installation on machines that have yet to be addressed, short of creating a new ORGANIZATIONAL unit for them?

If it is the latter, how can I say get to install at a later date once we have addressed the issues?

Had the problem on the 25/06 reboot after the installation of update 7.6.7600.256 for Windows Update Agent (required system restore).

This (with duplicates) and subsequent updates are shown as successful in the history of the update, but shows always date of "updates have been installed" on the home window Windows Update like 13/06/2012 (previous updates) and updates later only the fix (KB981889) shows as available in the Uninstall list.

How will I know if the Windows Agent Update and other subsequent updates installed correctly?

If the Update Agent update has not been installed correctly, is there a solution for this?

  • Windows Update Agent cannot be installed

My complaints are as many others here who received updated last in November 2011.  I tried the "Fixit" several times

with reboot without success.  I also downloaded the update agent 7.6 MB 9,496.  I tried to install manually, but the error

message had been "windows update agent met with a fatal error.  I can't do the things with my computer.

How can I be salvaged out of this situation.  It's frustrating.

    Jean-Michel Ogunola

If you have not received an update from Nov 2011, you may be better to backup all your data (Photos, documents, bookmarks/favorites, emails, contacts, etc.) and then re-install windows from scratch and reload your data. Or at least try a repair installation - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

However, you can try the antivirus scans. Update your Anti Virus program and then run a full scan. then download, install, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytesfree. Keep it free, no need to start a trial. See if either scan detects and removes malware.

Then, after the scans, tell him - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/971058 and see if this helps then.
