Windows Update notification icon does not

Hello

On my laptop when there are available windows updates and then in the box notification blue windows update icon appears, download updates and tell me if I have to restart my computer. My father has a new office, also windows 7, and instead of this icon, the indicator for the Action Center pops up and says there are windows updates. How to do his job the same as mine? All settings inside the update of windows are the same.

Thank you

guru84,
Make sure you check the settings in the center of the action and the Notification area settings.  Display icons in the Notification area of change  Also will show a number of icons in the notification area.  It is possible that when updates are available, the Windows Update icon is active, but just not visible.  When you receive an alert Action Center, click the triangle to the left of the notification area button and see if the Windows Update icon is there.  If this is the case, click on, and then drag it to the visible area.

I use Vista and do not know if this is the reason why the text icon does not work. All other icons work. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Hi bipsvic,

Since when are you facing this problem?
    If it works well before?

I suggest that you want to run the file system (CFS) Checker scan that might help you to solve the issue.
To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    3. at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:
     sfc/scannow

When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved. If the problem you are experiencing is not resolved, use the procedure that is described in the section "the System Restore tool.

Follow the instructions in the link below for more information on scan SFC.

Check whether the problem is resolved.

If this does not work, you can try to create the new user account by following the instructions in the link below and check if it works.

  • Installed the Windows updates now sound does not work.

I used the windows update Center yesterday and installed the updates that were for my computer, now my sound does not work. When I try and open "Dolby-Publisher of stars", I get this message:

Any help tp fix it would be greatly appreciated as im am not very wise computer.

    Will,

According to the scenario provided it seems that the problem is that you have updated the drivers for the audio device, but you have not updated the application (Dolby Home Theater - perhaps). If you have two choices, update the application to a version more recent or uninstall the installed update which is relevant to the audio driver (through programs and features - updated).

    See you soon.

  • After you have installed the Windows updates, my computer does not recognize that there is a disc in the DVD - ROM thing

I had this problem for weeks and only recently someone told me that it is perhaps for this reason.
I tried several things to fix, and one of those who created an error where when I clicked on drive E in Windows Explorer, it looks like:

    E:\ application not found

So, in the end, I wiped my computer and everything on it and rebooted again.

    IT TOOK FOUR HOURS.

So, I've set up the computer as I did when I got it 2 years ago, and everything was fine. I could insert a disc, it reads that and I was able to install my game, no problems.

Now, I have reset everything up, and there are more than 2000 updates to update installed. So I did.

SO NOW, after all this, which took another TWO HOURS - he does not all disks again.

I play the Sims 3 - fiercely - and so I tried to re - install all my expansion packs, but it does not now.

I DON'T want to make that whole process again and install all my games before updating Windows, because I believe, even if I did that, once I've updated, I can't play the game, because my laptop does not recognize that the game disc is there.

    Help, please.

I spent so much money on these games, and I love them! I don't have the money to buy a new computer.

I have an Asus laptop with windows 8. After the update is no longer connected to any wifi. But my phone and xbox connect very well so I know that's not the router. I've already looked and tried the roll back driver option and it worked until I turned off my computer and came back to her. I tried to uninstall the drivers and put it back in place and update then back off again and nothing work so now I'm lost and don't know what I can do. I'm really close to buying a Mac because it's all just ridiculous.

  • Windows Update Control Panel does not open in Windows 8

    Hello

I use Windows 8 unique language that came pre-installed with my laptop.

My problem is that the option to update windows from the Control Panel does not open. All other options like Firewall, power, administration etc tool are all very well opening. but every time I try to access windows update, it gets stuck, curious thing is that explore is not having hung or whatever it is, the Explorer appears not any message "not responding" in Task Manager either, everything else seems to work fine, except for the update of windows which is completely frozen.

I've included a snapshot of the frozen window also...

I tried to use the restore of the system for as long as possible, but it does not work. I want to update to windows 8.1, unfortunately I can't do unless I upgrade my windows 8 first. Please help me to solve the problem...

    Peter Sullivan 1,
Several times when you are unable to access the Windows Update web page, it is either caused by a firewall block or a type virus infection.  I suggest to turn off your firewall and then test Windows Update.  Don't forget to re-enable it as soon as you are finished testing.  If you are still not able to access it with the firewall off, then I suggest a more aggressive scan for issues.  Use not only your AVG but run an online scanner as well.  These links have some great info about viruses and anti-virus programs:

Problem has been resolved.  The permissions on the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\SensLogn had to be reset.  This enabled the settings of this key be restored and Windows Update works now.  I suspect that this problem occurred initially because of a crash of an Acronis image training program that was causing problems.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Just Windows Update maintains research & does not stop until I have shut computer down, did since 09/08/16

I received updates until 2016 to 8 of 9, now he does that to keep looking. Never had this problem before.

the patch tool that I have on my system failed to fix. In my view, that the problem is in the range of microsoft

not our computer.  I wish that they would fix it.  I need this computer even if it is old, that's all

I have.  Please help I shut the computer down is the only way, she leaves the research. I keep trying to get

updates, I run sometimes all day, don't stop the research.

This issue requires temporarily disable automatic updates.

    1. set him 'never to find updates' automatic updates.

    2. restart Windows.

    3. download and install KB3177725.

    KB3177725 32-bit

    KB3177725 64-bit

  • Network notification icon does not not for left click.

Hi all. All of a sudden my icon in the notification area network connection seems to be insensitive to the left click. This must, of course, open the "currently signed to" connect/disconnect menu type, IE: http://i.technet.microsoft.com/ff847520.Davies.CG.0710.Fig1(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg

Here are a few things I checked:

    • Left click works on other icons.
    • Right-click on the icon (which works), go to network and sharing Center and clicking 'connect or disconnect' works by triggering the appropriate menu.
    • Icon from disabling and re-enabling it.
    • Apart from this the icon looks in good condition, and all my network seems to be good too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Keith d.c,

Put the computer in safe mode with network and see if the problem persists:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If the problem is not repeated in safe mode, there is probably a startup item or service is causing the problem. Follow the steps on the following link to locate the item or service is causing the issue:
