Windows upgrade offer - lost product key

Hello world

So here is my dilemma - I have a Toshiba laptop that came pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium, when I bought it in October 2012. At the time, Microsoft was running a promotion called the Windows upgrade offer (http://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com), where, if you had purchased an eligible PC/Laptop, you could buy an upgrade to Windows 8 just AU $ 14.99.
Later, Microsoft ran a promotion where you can receive a free media center upgrade which allows you to install Windows Media Center.
Unfortunately, I lost the product key Windows 8 original I had received the supply of Windows 8 upgrade - and my laptop has been infected with a virus. I figured I'd just best to re - install Windows 8 by using the option "remove all and reinstall Windows" in the Windows 8 Control Panel. He was able to reinstall Windows, but asked me to enter a product key. Due to the fact that I could not find my product key, I used Belarc Advisor to find my product key, just before I went ahead with the process of re-installing. Bit I didn't, the product key that Belarc Advisor found was in fact Windows 8 with the product key for Media Center.
Thus, Windows won't let me activate, as the Setup is 'Windows 8 Pro', not 'Windows 8 Pro with Media Center'.
I contacted Microsoft via Twitter, phone (technical support, billing/accounts, activations and Microsoft Store departments) and live chat, those who have no record of my purchase. I still have the Windows upgrade offer promo ID and registration confirmation number I received in an email to * address email is removed from the privacy *, but they prove to be useless for support teams. Also the use of the Windows command summary site (http://mswos.com) does not seem to show my order.
Is that what I am able to do?

Try contacting Microsoft, once again, that is your best option;

I bought windows 8 on November 27, 2012 at a local retail store and I even my Bill.

I installed it on my PC and everything was going well until the day my CPU everything has exploded and I had to fix it.

After repair, I found that my product was not activated, and when I tried to turn it back on, the great mishap was even, I lost my product key to this moment there.

    Now what should I do?

    Thanks in advance a ton.

    Mihir salvation,

I'm sorry to know that you are facing problems with activation. I wish to inform you that, whenever there is a significant change in material to the computer, such as upgrading the hard disk and memory at the same time, you may be required to activate Windows again. You do a repair after your CPU, Windows asked you to activate the copy.

I suggest you ask the retail store that had purchased you the copy of Windows 8 with the purchase invoice because they will better help you to provide the product key and help you to activate the copy of Windows.

Alternatively, you can contact Microsoft activation for assistance. Consult the following link:

  • What happens if I install a new windows on a computer product key OEM windows laptop?

I bought a laptop in 2009 with Windows Vista Home Basic OEM on it (I still have the sticker of the portable product key).

This year, I bought a larger capacity HARD drive and installed on my laptop.

I thought it was the perfect time to upgrade to Windows 7, so I bought a DVD of Windows 7 Ultimate.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my HDD new and used the new Windows 7 Ultimate DVD product key.

    My questions are,

What will happen to the product key Windows Vista Home Basic OEM?

If it is replaced with the new product key?

Is the OEM product key became invalid?

Now I use Windows Pro 10, as a free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, so...

What my new Windows 10 Pro registered product key?

I know that since windows 8, the product key is installed on the BIOS (am I right?).

    then, how it actually works?

Thank you very much for the reply.

    Kind regards

    Hello

No matter if you did a clean Windows 7 or updated installation to upgrade to windows 7 from Vista, this OEM Vista product key is blocked on this computer and cannot be transferred to another machine.

You can only use this key OEM of Vista to reinstall Vista on this particular machine and start over.

    Licensing rules (my words)

If the computer/laptop comes with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) or is licensed to OEM System Builders, that the product key that came with the computer/laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) and the license OEM System Builders are related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when machine who dies.

Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Rec would be the free upgrade to 10 7 as Vista never qualified for the free upgrade to 10.

The key/license Windows product to describe the operating system, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, etc. is absorbed by upgrading Windows 10 during the installation process and becomes an integral part of the active Windows 10 final installation.

The license qualifying operating system, either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, etc. cannot be used anywhere else, or in a dual boot with Windows 10.

But there is no product key for your free upgrade to 10.

Hardware configuration you laptop is stored on Microsoft servers and how your machine will be recognized if you always want to reinstall 10.

    See you soon.

  • How to install windows 8 using an product key OEM (under construction)

Hello everyone. I bought a computer laptop sony vaio about a year ago and he had 8 integrated windows which clrealy means that the product key is embedded in the motherboard. Now the thing is I want to dual boot with ubuntu and use it alongside windows 8.1 (that I've updated 8) and the ubuntu installation went a little worse. When I went to reinstall I erased by mistake my hard drive and all I was left with was an operating system reinstalled ubuntu.  Now I know that the product key for the windows kernel 8 is in my motherboard, so I want to install windows 8 on it, but it seems that there is no way I can get the iso standard for installation. I tried to use the 'upgrade of windows with a single product key' by Microsoft after the extraction of my key by using a program, but it says my key cannot be used to obtain a version of windows.

Im stuck pretty bad here now, and any help would be appreciated. -There should be a solution because after all I don't have a genuine product key-

As you probably know, most of the machines are supplied with recovery disks more, they just put in another partition on the hard drive.  Sometimes, you can get this in now shift while clicking the option restart from the menu of the power.

Given that, most of the manufacturers have prepared with their own solutions. My computer Vaio from Sony has a button of special pinhole that I had to press with a paper clip to enter into recovery mode.  Other manufacturers have other options, some require a USB thumbdrive to enter recovery, or a CD.

At this point, you probably want to contact your manufacturer to find out which method of recovery they use.  I hate to bring bad news, but they'll probably say "why did not a recovery USB disk? (as if someone creates their own set of disks of repair when they receive a new computer).

Help a friend with a Dell laptop (did not have a problem, but wanted to install a pure one)

passing), Dell sent us a free night FedEx ship from a restore CD. The manufacturer of your can be so nice. I know that Sony was not. If the recovery of my Vaio button didn't work, they wanted $60 for a CD!

Anyway, the manufacturer is your best bet, that now, if you don't have a USB self made for recovery.

  • Have a computer dell laptop. replaced the hard drive; tried to install my Windows XP and my product key is not accepted. I was wondering why and how do to accomplish this task.

My dell laptop had the hard drive replaced.  My son, who knows computers, installed the new hard drive.  Then he tried to install my Windows XP Professional software - when it came time to put the product key #, it was not accepted.  It's authentic.  The product key is: * removed *.

There no mention of this issue in section outages or other information provided in the booklet provided.  Can you help me with this problem?

The license key and product type must match (XP Home vs XP Pro;)  (and OEM license vs the retail license).  If it's a Dell computer and you get the product key from a sticker on the case, then there is likely a version of Windows XP OEM this product key.  If you install Windows XP from a retail installation disk, then the types of licenses will not match.  You will need to use the license that accompanies the retail installation disc or you will need to contact Dell for an OEM installation disc to go with the license on your sticker case.

I have no idea what a product key is and don't have anything either in the type comes to connect as usual.  I can't access anything to be same to reduced functionality.  I can not type in a new product key because I did not.  I can not contact HP - phone number does not... !!

    Moved from Vista programs Forum.

You should have a sticker with the product key on your computer, on the bottom, or under the battery cover.  I try to type this key in and see if it accepts it.  If this isn't the case, you might not have an authentic version of Windows installed.

    Hi Rob,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forum.

I understand that you are looking for a product key for Windows Vista install. I'll help you with this problem.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. have you bought Windows Vista in a store?

If Windows Vista was preinstalled on the computer, then you should look for a sticker on the computer. This sticker has the 25-character product key that you are looking for.

If you bought Windows Vista, then the product key will be on the DVD packaging. If you purchased Windows Vista online, then you need to connect to your account and check the e-mail that contains the product key.
