Windows Vista Auto Update error 8024 has 000
I have a Toshiba A305 - S6872 Windows Vista 32-bit SP1 I had to install a new Western Digital HARD drive, I have loaded the cd of windows vista Toshiba gave with the laptop, when I go to Windows Update I get the code A 8024, 000, I tried all of the solutions in the pop-ups for the code under cmd, I tried the fix it is but a Shell of power error , I also installed Microsoft Update Standalone Package (.msu) I get the 0xc800247 error code, I tried to make each step under the toshiba web site say it's the Intel Rapid Storage driver, I downloaded the update they had on the Toshiba site and still no luck, someone on Fixya said to download Sp2 on a disk and try this way a different error code. I can't get any help on why windows update will not work all I get is error code after the error code. I never had problems in the past. I just tried the cmd together all the steps listed and does still no update. The codes will tell you to go to intel, then intel tell you to go to Toshiba toshiba said its microsoft? IM so confused. Thank you

Hello
(1) what is the description the updates that are failed?
Method 1:
I suggest you to check if Windows update service is running, here are the steps.
a. Click Start, go to control panel.
b. open administrative tools, right-click on services and click Run as administrator.
c. scroll to Windows Update service, check whether it is started.
d. If no, then right-click on the service and click Start.
Method 2: Also try to reset components to update Windows from the following link, which would help you to install the updates of windows. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
Method 3: Try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and then try to install the updates.
By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.
Method 4: If the problem persists then try to install updates manually from the Microsoft Download Center.
a. go to the Microsoft Download site, type the number of "KB" of the update in the download search box and then click OK.
b. in the list of search results, click on the (KB) Knowledge Base article link to go to the download page. If there is more than one list, look for a link that goes to the Microsoft Download Center.
c. If there are several versions on the download page, find the appropriate for your computer. Click on the download button and save the update to your desktop.
d. When you are prompted, click open to install the update.
Hope this information is useful.

Windows Vista. Update error Code 80072EFE
I'm so sick of Vista, error code constant update and cant update since April 2010, windows Defender won't update, installed a service pack manually, but I can't get the security updates, get error 80072EFE code, very frustrated at this point, all scanned and it's showing no malaware , or virus or anything, so he doesn't let me access my desktop unless I'm scanning the c drive for errors first (2 or more hours to scan) Oh so many questions, I could try windows 7. At my wits end with Vista premium 32 bit... Thanks if you can help... frustrated!
Hello
I've seen this error quite often.
Error 80072EFE is related to the update server closing the connection.
Mosty likely, the computer can be infected by ROOTKITS.
Try TDSSKILLER to find rootkits.
Download and run from here
http://support.Kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/TDSSKiller.exe
Then try to update Security Essentials
See you soon

Try to install 4 ' important'updates on Windows Vista and get error codes: 80070641.
Try to install 4 ' important'updates on Windows Vista and get error codes: 80070641, who has had a lot of answers posted but none does not seem to work and I tried to install this upgrade for the last 6 months! (I did one where you made sure something is running in the Control Panel, but it works just not - I HATE Vista!)
Now just got a new error code: 6 to 8.
The updates, I can't update (!) are:
- SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4
- Update of security for MSOffice 2007 System
- Update for MS 2007 Office system
- Update for MSOffice Outlook 2007 Junk email filter
Unfortunately I'm not technically proficient at all and do not understand the jargon I've read on this site so if anyone has an answer, please could you write it as if you were talking to your grandma who only discovered what a mouse! ;-)
Thanks in advance
Sharon

How can I stop windows vista without updating the updates
How can I stop windows vista without updating the updates because it affects my computer in error mode and I have to restore to get vista to startup after I reopen it later
Hello
You can change the settings for windows update to check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.
Change how Windows installs or notifies you of updates
You can also check in the update to the update history recently failed, double-click the update to get the error code and let us know.
See the Windows updates are installed
You can also read the following article to reset the Windows Update components and check.
