Is windows vista compatible with windows xp and I have to have HP OPSWARE to update my system to vista?
Hey mooredale24
they are two completely different operating systems.
You can switch from xp to vista, if you meet certain conditions
under microsoft link has the vista minimum system hardware requirements for you to check if you have
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/products/system-requirements
and as you mention HP go to their Web site below and see if your model computer has vista drivers available for him
http://welcome.HP.com/country/us/en/support.html
If it is not an hp computer go to the manufacturer of the brand of your computer and do the same
If no vista driver is available, do not upgrade to vista
link below has xp to vista upgrade paths
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/upgrading-from-Windows-XP-to-Windows-Vista
and microsoft sells more vista
you'd have to try online on amazon.com, ebay etc or ask at your local computer store
Windows 7 is now available
Why not visit if you are compatible with this operating system
Here are his requirements

RISK II for windows 2000 compatible with VISTA
I have an older version of Risk II and want to run with VISTA is this possiable? If I need to updates or patches where I can get them.
Hey 50 legs.
Risk II appears to be an old game that is compatible with Windows XP and earlier operating systems. Given that the game is compatible with Windows XP, it is likely that it runs under Vista.
Use the program compatibility Wizard to change the compatibility settings for the program automatically. You can also choose to change the settings manually. See the steps in the article below.
Make older programs in this version of Windows

Are the games that are compatible with Vista, they are also compatible for Windows 7?
Are the games that are compatible with Vista, they are also compatible for Windows 7?
Hello Karen W.
In large part, Yes. I didn't fall on one that does not work on Windows 7, which was done on Windows Vista. But by saying that I haven't met one who does not work on Windows Vista and I have a fairly large library of games.
The only thing that I actually noticied is lowest for the transition to 64-bit, where the 16-bit applications no longer works, and some games just there about 8 years ago still used 16-bit installers.

Is what camcorder compatible with Windows Movie Maker on Vista Home Premium?
I'm in a bit of a dead end. I have to make and edit a film which is mostly clips stored in Windows Movie Maker on my old computer which has VISTA Home Premium/64 bit.
In most old clips (that are compatible), I have to shoot some new images. My recent purchase of a Sony camcorder does not work.
Can anyone recommend a camcorder that will have files that are compatible with Windows Movie Maker? My Sony clips seem impossible to move outside the Sony software so I can't convert them.
I'm ready to buy a new camera. I just need something compatible. Would even buy a used one on E - Bay as long as it will work with the old Windows Movie Maker.
Can anyone help?
If its on a memory card to buy a card reader, if you do not. Or if you connect the cable it should allow you to see what on it
Most camcorders these days support MP4. If it is HD. The new Panasonic cam I have here, I think that it records in MP4. Since it is 1080 p
The old who is also Panasonic may have been old, (it is not HD), but it had a firewire port.
But I think that it saved videos like WMV (I mean I don't know that it loaded in Movie maker, when I got it)
You will have either to buy a program that supports MP4, or use a video conversion program and convert to WMV

Program, managing your money get the version of the file is not compatible with Windows Vista
I'm trying to run an old program, manage his money, on Vista Home Premium 64 - bit. It ran OK on Win XP. When I try to run the setup.exe, I get error - "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows hou are running." I tried to use the program compatibility Wizard. No help. Same mistake. Anything else I can try?
If you get this error and the Compatibility Mode doesn't help, then the program simply is not compatible with this version of Vista, and if you want the program, you will need to check with the manufacturer to see if they make a full install version which is compatible with Vista and buy the program more recent. If they do not have such a version, then I'm afraid you're just out of luck with this program. The only other option MIGHT be Virtual PC, but even that is not a guarantee and is a little extreme just to get an old program running.
Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's like that.
Good luck!

Windows Vista Home Premium compatible with Office Excel 2013?
I have Windows Vista Home Premium.
I bought Office Excel 2013. While trying to install Excel, "system of operation unsupported" appears. Says I need a 32-bit Windows 7 in the office of successful execution.
My Windows Vista computer is a 32-bit.
When I bought the product key, the employee said that Windows Vista works with it very well. Is this true?
What should I do to be able to use this Excel?
Thank you.

No office 2013 is only compatible with Win 7/8. As it says here

I recently installed Windows Vista on my Dell Inspiron 6000. This installation is completed successfully, but when I tried to start, I got an error message:
Winload.exe
Attempt to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with the 64-bit mode.
I've been clean installation Windows Vista Home Premium. I already had Windows XP Media Center 2004. What should I do?
Thank you

Hello
Do a clean install of XP with the XP disk provided by Dell, if you.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/OperatingSystems/SS/instxpclean1.htm
If you do not have your XP disk, you can contact Dell and ask them to send you a XP disc.
They should do this for a small fee.
You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the order of startup and startup disk:
How to change the Boot order in BIOS:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm
"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246
Vista installation was able to destroy this option of relocation:
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall XP back on how you purchased your computer.
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
A Dell must rely on Ctrl + F11 at STARTUP to reinstall XP
See you soon.
