Windows Vista on HP recovery, my current vista said that it isn't legal (it's that came with the computer)
I intend to recover windows vista on my HP Pavilion DV4 - 1400. For some reason any my current vista said that it isn't legal (it's that came with the computer) I have not changed the operating system. My key of vista down my computer is damaged. If I perform my vista recovery provided with the recovery drive, this will solve the problem? The recovery process will be asking for a cd key, because as I said above that on my laptop is damaged.
Hello
with HP, you press F11 on startup to start the recovery process
and it shouldn't have an entry of your share product key
for any other questions about the process of recovering HP contact HP because it's their recovery process not microsofts

Lost windows vista cd that came with the laptop
Hey guys,.
I own a t500 and I lost my cd of windows vista that came with it. I had planned to reformat my computer. What are my options to get a new copy of this cd? and lets say I wanted to upgrade to windows xp or 7, so which version should I?
Thanks a ton guys, I appreciate it.
Microsoft's XP cd won't work, unless it's a XP OEM disc (that microsoft not distribute themselves). Also, you would need XP series No. to activate the XP operating system which you do not have.
Try to call Lenovo and they can send it to you for free, as long as you have the remaining warranty.

Can I move my current operating system that came with the computer on a new hard drive?
My family got a hp pavilion m7560n some time ago. Last weekend I heard on that clicking sound from the hard drive I think. Since then, I only heard once or twice. All that I know is that clicking may mean the hard drive is defect or on the way that him. However I don't know if this is the case if the sound starts and stops.
I want to know if I can format a new hard drive to replace the one provided with the system and always keep the same format as on the system when it was new. I mean here the operating system and all other programs who came to this topic. The recovery that are made to work for this computer discs may work on a new drive hard format if it is put in place of the system?
Or are otherwise free to carry the operating system and other programs on a new hard drive.
The hard disk provided with the system's 320 GB, I have one that is 500 GB.
Hi logicman77,
the recovery discs are meant to be exactly for this purpose. You can put in a new drive hard (500 GB is fine), and the discs will reinstall XP, as well as all software provided on them.
The computer will look like it did the day you took it out of the box. This document will give you details on the implementation of the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07145

can't activate windows xp with the product key that came with the computer
I got a computer of 510N HP Pavilion from a friend who was absolutely riddled with viruses and malware of all kinds. Every thing I did to clarify apparently nowhere got done or made it worse. At the end of the day, the computer would only begin to restart, stop after the start of the HP logo screen, then start to boot, etc and more. All I could do was to install the hard drive in another computer and format, from scratch. Now, I'm trying to install the system to XP op for the disc that came with the computer.
the problem: the code the product key on the case went wrong with the disc. After searching for solutions, I found a code on the disk by searching the files it contains, tried and it worked! Problem is when I try to turn it on, it says it's an "unauthorized product key." I tried to enter that code on the box and who says he is "invalid". The Cd look authentic; are for distribution with new pc HP and Compaq. After a further inspection drives are XP Professional SP2, while if it is XP Home Edition. What gives? Activation does not anyway. It is any use that will not make me buy a new set of disks?Please let me know if more info or detail is necessary.
PS - only a single piece of hardware has been changed - the cdrom initially provided with the computer was bad, so I went out to perform the installation.
When you perform a restore to the factory on some HPs condition you have two choices: 1) a restoration which keeps your data and programs (in a repair installation); (2) a full destructive restore which brings back the machine to the State, it's when you first opened the box. In your case, you have already wiped the drive, so the question is moot. I would call the HP technical support. Normally when you use an OEM recovery media (HP, Dell, etc.) a product key is never required during the restore. If you have used the media to restore HP shipped with your system and are always asked for a key and one on the sticker machine is not accepted, then something is certainly. original title: what am I doing here? Help, please
the computer that we originally came with vista home premium installed on with no disc reset and I want to change Windows 7 to vista, but I don't have the disk to reset for it, anyone know where I can get the drive, or if it would be possible to reset HP windows vista 7.
and I have all the vista files in a separate hard drive
I really need help can someone help me please
Hi Jesse,.
I suggest contacting the manufacturer of your computer to obtain the replacement installation discs for Windows Vista: -
I need to know how to save my drivers on my hard drive or on a disc because I lost the disc to my computer and I want to change my hard drive on my laptop
You back up your operating system, not your drivers.

How to use the Vista computer backup and restore
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you buy a NEW hard drive, the new hard drive manufacturer is normally cloning software available on their website for you to download and do exactly what you want to do.
Alternatively, use 3rd Party software, you will have to pay for:
http://www.Acronis.com.au/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/
Or get a drive for recovery of your computer manufacturer, or borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft and reinstall Vista,
Read the info below:
How to get Vista recovery Media.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Both xp pro... dunno why its not working, worked prior to this installation. Same model, same format, reinstall installation routine... not working do not. Help, please
If you have an OEM of XP Pro product key version and a CD of XP Pro retail, which will not work because they must be of the same type of XP Pro.
If both the key product AND the installation CD are for the same type of XP Pro (otherwise, they are all two OEM or they are two retailers), so you just need to be very careful when you enter the 25-character product key, be careful not to confuse an 8 with a B, a 5s etc.

* Original title: restart the computer
I just got a new Windows 7 computer, and it has many applications in this shift makes the apps that I really need. How can I completely restart the computer world and lose all files, applications, etc., that came with the computer first
If these are apps you added and want more, you can use the functionality of your computer factory restore. Unfortunately, this erases the disk and leave you with a double précis of his State when you turned on for the first time. Then, you would have to do all the updates of Windows and then install all the programs you want.
Otherwise, use programs uninstaller (from Control Panel) for each application that you do NOT want to uninstall.

Bought an ASUS Eee PC a few months back - a well - was inactive for a few months and now has the following message displays on the screen "this copy of Windows is not genuine" - riddle previous owner installed Win 7 Professional w/o legitimate key? I have Win 7 Home Premium doc & key that came with the pc but not the Windows 7 installation disc. Is there one had to return/restore Win 7 HP without the original disc for Win 7?

A problem prevented the document are analyzed. Windows 7 - HP G4050 scanner.
I have a HP G4050 which worked fine with Vista. After the upgrade to Windows 7, I get the following error when scanning:A problem prevented the document are analyzed. Please try again, or to correct this information, see Help and Support or the documentation that came with the scanner.
I get a different error during an attempt of an overview. It starts to get an overview of the page, gets about 2 inches to the bottom of the page and then I get the following error:
An error occurred when you set the properties of the scanner. If another program is scanning, please wait to complete, and then try again.
I downloaded the latest driver (and reinstalled several times) of HP with no luck. No errors are recorded in the Application events.
I'm going nuts trying to figure out this one! Thanks for your help.

Update:
I finally had time to unplug the scanner, wait 60 seconds and then plug it again.
Problem solved.

I have a Dell laptop, Studio, approximately 1 year, delivered with Windows 7 Professional installed - the label with the genuine product key is located at the bottom of the laptop. Shortly after I got it I deleted the recovery partition to make room for Linux installed next to Windows. I had problems with Windows system (mainly caused by me bad installation software and drivers without proper backups) so I decided to reinstall Windows. I had already deleted the recovery partition and wouldn't use it anyway because I prefer a clean system without unwanted from the manufacturer in this regard. I did not receive a Windows operating system installation DVD with my computer, so I downloaded a (64-bit Windows 7 Professional, the same as the original operating system) which already had SP1 on it (the version of Win7Pro installed Dell's not SP1). I installed Windows on this drive and attempted to activate using the product key that came with my computer, but it would not accept the key. I don't have time to try to solve this problem, but now the period of one month is up and my computer does not work correctly.
I suspect that the problem may be due to me using the SP1 disc. If this is the case, should I reinstall Windows again? I have * NOT * GOING to buy another product key when I have already paid for a genuine version of Windows. I just want to be able to use my computer without the ridiculous slowdowns caused by pre-installed software and the way I chose.Thanks for any help with this problem, I really need fo fix my computer.
original title: Activation error, Windows 7 ProfessionalWindows product key: *-* - M3DJT - 4J3WC-733WDWindows license Type: OEM SLPThe key to your report is your OEM SLP key which can not be activated. This isn't the key to COA.
but the key I tried to use is what I copied on the COA the day I got the computer of the book where I put all the information on my computers.
Is the product key in your book is the partial key in your report?You must change the product key to the one on your COA.Check your compartment of the COA.The other solution is to reinstall your Dell OEM recovery disks or recovery partition. This self will activate your computer.Additional information:Computers, which are built by large manufacturers provided with pre-installed Windows are supplied with 2 two product keys:
(A) OEM SLP: this key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates. (that's why you had no need to turn on your computer after you brought it home)
(B) COA SLP: it's the product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or at the bottom, [or in the battery compartment]) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but must be used only in certain situations (for example, if the OEM SLP key stops automatic activation for a reason any). The key must be activated by phone. (Note: all manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key, on the computer)

deleted the windows on windows defender and impossible to reinstall! Message comes out and says that I should not install windows defender, because it came with windows vista. How can I try to fix it when I have windows Defender on my computer?
You can not delete Defender in Vista.
It is part of the Vista operating system.
You can only activate / it:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Defender-on-or-off
Enable or disable the Windows Defender
Many anti-virus have conflict Defender (McAfee, AVG, etc.), and turn it out / conflict with it.
Microsoft Security Essentials, it turns off because it has its own version.

I am a teacher in a college.
I have original vista of window for the past three years. Recently, my system got viruses. I went to a computer store. And left my laptop with him to solve my problem. I gave my original vista 32 bit cd. But now my window is not enabled. And he says that this key is already in use for someone. What I fear is that the merchant has installed on another computer and have turned on too. Is it possible so that I prove that I am the original purchaser of the window. I always have with me the original packaging of the window. Please help me.
original title: window is not enabled.
There seems to be no problem with the installation - with the exception of the fact that it has not been activated.
Assuming that your key agrees with that in the report, all you have to do is actiavte by phone.
Activate by phoneClick the Start button
in the search box, type
SLUI 4
and press the Enter key
Follow the instructions - but when asked which service you need the ansafone phone, don't answer - it should oblige the operator to answer, who can deal with you.If your key is different from that in the report, simply change the search to
SLUI 3
and follow the same procedure

they do it for a nominal cost of $

Ask them of the exact key sequence
