Windows Vista SP1 installs, not anything else

None of the suggestions work threads. I reinstalled same full operating system from the original cd. I had already replaced the hard drive as the old man a bad wwnt. Just curious, if maybe the old hd had a license or something attaching it to the product key and maybe that's what's causing problems?  It seems to me like a lot of people have had this problem where the service pack says it installed, but is not displayed, and continues to appear in Windows update. What a shame. Doubtful that we'll never know what caused this to happen and why there is no patch from Microsoft to simply fix.

Hello

You can change the hard disk; It's activation with a new motherboard that you have problems with if you change this.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you which SP you have installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30

  • Cannot install Service Pack 2 using Windows Vista Home Edition or anything else on the internet.

    Hello

I tried to download and install Service Pack 2 using Windows Vista Home Edition, or anything like that on the internet without success. According to me, the key word is internet or a block of Vista from the internet to install anything. Many people here get the same error 80070005 for SP2 as I am, but I think that the problem is with Vista, how the system allows any installs or blocks installed from the internet. I suppose that some are able to go through the download process, but installation is where it does not pass through. There are moments where it seems that the installation of SP2 works, but it will fail eventually. Other times what ever happens to the installation process. The same goes for all other downloads and installs from the internet. I am able to install a program that already exists on the computer, so I know that installs works just not the Internet. Do not send me a link to install because it probably won't last through. I may be able to download but installation will not pass by so that the program will not work. I used the words installation and internet a lot for some reason please take account, when responding.

    Thank you

Go to your retail store, they should have the disk recovery for you or you need to go to your manufacturer directly because the manufacturer is best qualified to support the software that the manufacturer has installed on the hardware, provide your serial number and order the CD on their part. I bet they arrange an expedition to the France and tax treatment for it, but should not be too much.

Note: The manufacturer was required to provide a way to reinstall Windows. If it is not a set of disks with the computer, there will be a hidden restore partition (do not be confused with the system restore), you would use to return the computer to the State of the OOBE (Out of Box Experience).

  • Repeated installation of Windows Vista SP1 in Windows Update and fake notification of successful Installation.

I was using Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit OS in my Dell Inspiron 1501. The operating system is preinstalled and Windows Update updated to SP2. But recently an unknown problem has occurred and my laptop cannot connect to the internet. As no reason was found, experts have advised the reinstallation of Windows Vista. I reinstalled Vista by running the operating system provided by Dell with my laptop DVD. The laptop started to connect to the internet normally.

I started to receive an update to Windows Vista SP1. I installed it. Installation has suddenly didn't have that about five minutes and the computer also has not restarted several times on its own as expected. At the end of the Windows Update notification "Update" successful installation Update history shows also succeed installing SP1. However, I am receiving the same updated daily and installed in exactly in the same way with the same result. After installation, the Windows version does not display Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 but only Windows Vista Home Basic. What should I do?

I had the same problem and it really irritated me. Even when you install SP1, and he says there are successful (takes like 1 sec inst) and you click on updates search is there once again. He said in the story who is has been installed, but is not there, when I tried to install SP2 maually it is said first install SP1, and then I tried to manually install SP1 and it says that I have already. But if you go to start > right click on 'computer' > properties it does not say you have SP1. So here's what I just did and now it worked and SP2 as well.

When you click on the support link that he gave u get the ability to run a thing 'fixit '. That run. And it still didn't work. (read everything in the support page) Then I went on this link and ran the virus Hunter MS. Nothing was found, problem still there. so I ran again the file 'fixit '. (twice he said them that something was fixed.) then I restart my computer and tried to install the SP1 Setup again and it worked perfectly :) then SP2 and it worked as well manually. and he has actally took like an hour to install. maybe try, worked for me. lol, don't know what measures was unnecessary, but it worked. You can download the SP to install it manually, simply google "manually install SP1/2 for vista" or something and download it.
Sorry for the bad grammar/spelling. In a hurry, lol. I hope that you manage!

  • Windows Vista SP2 installation error loop (x 64) 0xc0190036 error number

Hello, after installing SP2, I constantly make the same mistake, the bad thing is, insteath to back off, the SP2 update keep trying on and again and again to change the file that contains an error (file checks! error 0 x 00190036 mshtml.tlb!).
now... I think that microsoft really screw them this time, because the installation program runs in any mode of windows, that is to say, cannot go to safe mode to attempt to recover from there, it's just again ONCE the attempt to install the sloppy SP2, restart the computer does nothing, as the update again will activate itself , so I always end up stuck in this part of the file with this error code mshtml.tlb (it continues to blink constantly as his try again and again access the file)

    Specs: Windows Vista SP1 Ultimate x 64
    GA - X 48 - DS4
    Q6600 @ 3 Ghz Kentsfield.
    4 x 2 GB (8 GB ddr2 800 Mhz)
    Sapphire Hd 3870
    2 x Western Digital Caviar (500 + 160 Gb) + Seagate 250 GB
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Zs

Previous mistakes: I could never install IExplorer 8, it still reported a similar error, but with the ieunit file (don't remember the exact file currently extension)

so the question is: will there be a fix for this problem? or do I just simply restore and try to recover manually in the hardway (Ie, run the Vista cd repair tool)
im not wanting to use the repairtool, because he already ruined an once installation after a poor pass from windows update.

    * edit *.
just to correct the incorrect error code, the correct error code reported is: 0xc0190036

Sometimes the error is then replaced 0 x 0190002 then 0xc0190005 when stopping down.

Note that I am on windows vista ultimate SP1 x 64 = programmer Noob =-

    Hi Tamalero,

You got the error message indicates that mshtml.tlb is damaged and there is one possibility of other files system is corrupted as well. All what we need to do is to rename the DLLs corrupted, restart the computer and let start the computer normally to complete the installation. Follow these steps to rename the corrupted dll file.

    (1) Insert the windows vista dvd and boot from the dvd.

    (2) select repair your computer.

    3) click on command prompt

Type the following commands and press ENTER after each line

    C:

    CD windows

    CD system32

    Mshtml.tlb.old mshtml.tlb Ren

    (4) output from command line

    (5) restart the computer and boot up normally

If you GET the black screen with a similar error and one different (other than mshtml.tlb) file, make a note of the dll file, repeat steps 1 to 5 and type the name of the file in step 3.

Restart the computer. It may take a while and you will be asked to connect to the desktop computer.

Check in system properties if SP2 is installed.

I hope this works. If you still have problem please do after back...

    Thank you.

    Hi error_counter here:
do a "repair" is only starting problems, and once they are solved, the problem persists (mshtml.tlb error)
I tried to remove this file, but then the error from 0xc01900036 at 0 x 000034
so I'm stuck again, I don't know why the file mshtml.tlb is really important to "detect" If service pack updates it anyway.

and like I said, even though vista windows SP1 supposedly has DONE a system restore point, no system restore points were detected by the dvd (one of the things that I hate about Vista than their restore points are a draw, and you can get by no unnecessary work anytime..)

the thing which allow me to return back to SP1 followed the instructions of another post here, related to the error 0 x 000034 in this forum but for SP1.
I went to the c:\windows\system32 directory and renaming of software files, security, SAM and default and replace them with copies of the REGBACK folder in system32\config
It could back me to SP1, unfortunately a quirk stuck me then in an infinite "configuration updates 3 of 3" forever time it boots (it restarts itself after a few days). and had to delete pending.xml file

That did the trick... for now, since everything appears to be damaged (I can use the program and the work very well, but no file windows update will not work).
SFC detects inconsistencies but he did not get to 100%, it stops at 34% saying it had problems and "could not perform the requested operation."
I also tried different microsoft tools. as the URSCheck and he only says: "this update does not apply to your machine.

so I guess my whole installation is really really corrupt (and makes me really hate Vista more reason, until now almost all my facilities or computers other people that contains vista, are full of mistakes or quirkcs diferent that prevents normal use.)

so Im trying to install Windows 7 in another partition and Im thinking in whiping it that soon everything is installed there.

Your first post was unclear: I thought you were trying to install SP1 manually (after downloading the Setup program), not via Windows Update.

When you reinstalled Windows, the free trial of Norton would have also been reinstalled (but not valid, of course). Do you have (1) uninstall the Norton free trial once again and then (2) download/run the Norton Removal Tool before you (3) reinstalled NOD32? [Yes/No]
