Windows Vista Vista replacement drive?

Several years ago, I bought a laptop Sony with Windows Vista preinstalled.  I've then upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate when it came out.  I was recently infected by a virus that froze my computer and I had to wipe the hard drive but have no disk Vista replacement.  How can I get these?

Hello

Contact Sony for a recovery disc.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

    Hello

A manufacturer of recovery disc is designed for a particular brand and computer model; they are not interchangeable.

Here is the link to order the Acer recovery disks:

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

And if the Acer never included a drive to purchase, you should have a recovery Partition on your hard disk to reinstall Vista to how it was when new.

With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the process of recovery back to new condition.

  • Windows Vista C drive is not accessible, the error "the parameter is incorrect."

I recently got a used laptop and have been clean files and install updates and now my drive "C" indicates "0" bytes. I can't open the files or download anything to try to fix. I also got the message "the parameter is incorrect." Can anyone help?

I suggest that, as it is a laptop that you reinstall Vista second-hand:

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • I downloaded by Windows vista on drive D error. I want to uninstall it. How do I do that?

I was getting error messages when I tried to update windows. The help page proposed that I have download windows vista on the disc that came with the computer when I bought it. By mistake I downloaded on the D drive and I lost all of my programs (internet, program of virus etc...) I can switch back to C drive on reboot, so I can access the internet and all my programs but still get an error message when I try to use Update Manager

    Hello KurtHansel,

    1. do you have dual boot at startup options when you try to start?

    2. are you still able to boot to the old version of Windows Vista that is installed on the C drive?

    3. What do you mean exactly when you say that you want to uninstall?

If you have installed Windows on another drive, you will have a dual-boot option. You can uninstall Vista by reformatting the drive. You can refer the link that will give you information about this below:

    Hello

AFAIK the Tecra M5 came with the graphics card Intel or nVidia.

On laptops with nVidia graphics card, you can set a different option in nVidia Desktop Manager. for example allow several computers to office
You should find it in the control panel.

Unfortunately, I put t know exactly where the parameters are placed in the nVidia Manager because this notebook was shipped only with Windows XP but I'm sure that you will find.

    Good bye

  • Windows Vista Ethernet driver

My Ethernet driver has been accidentally deleted. How can I determine the manufacturer so that I can get a replacement. Alternatively, are there other sites where I could download the driver?

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

The computer you are using now if you have an Internet connection with the other > download / save drivers > copy them into Flash Drive > transfer / install on another computer/laptop.

  • Inspiron 1525 / Windows Vista replaced but disc will not load the drivers

Inspiron 1525 (6/2008) hard drive failed.    Bought a Western Digital spare hard drive 500G (WD Blue) SATA III 5400 RPM.   (NOTE: this is the 2nd replacement hard drive because I bought the 1525... the first time I replaced the hard drive, everything worked as it should.) Original hard drive was a Seagate).

Replacement hard drive installation is installed it will not load the Vista OS from the disk to the operating system (which came with the laptop) because it does not recognize the driver for the hard disk.

I tried downloading the latest drivers from the Dell site, but which did not work or the other.

As I said, the previous hard drive replacement (an another western digital) works perfectly when I reinstalled the Vista operating system in 2010.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you...

Thanks for the detailed instructions.   I tried everything, but it didn't work.

Then I read about someone trying to install the same on an Inspiron 1545 hard drive and need to adjust the drive to align with the connectors using paper and another person was using the foil which made me realize that it was a problem of 'size' or 'worthy '. I then decided to open the laptop and manually set the new drive in place and everything works now. (Dell 1525 has a side load drive holder therefore had to open to make this setting correctly).  The player on the 1525 is 9.5 mm thick, but the new disc is 7 mm... even though the sales page for this player said he would fit a 9.5 mm slot.

    Everything is good now.

  • Could not restore Windows 7 for replacement drive

HP Pavilion 6267c running Windows 7 64 bit would not start.  Diagnostic said failed to find the startup disk.  Replace 750 GB drive with Seagate Barracuda 1 TB drive.  A ran disk original restoration and after initial installation, but I have the following message:

Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on a hardware on this computer.

Retries of installation with the same results.

    any help is appreciated.

    Hello

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery process, it is a job before right around if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE your PC came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to version exact commercial that you would need.

If you don't have access to a retail disk, you can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA to demand and when the installation is complete use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load delivered normally with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.

    Hello

I guess you need a driver for Vista compatible cardbus.
I noticed that Toshiba provides the Vista driver not for all Toshiba laptops.
Right now the Vista drivers are provided only for several series of laptops.

I got this Toshiba document on the support home page, and it seems that satellite M30X is not listed in the Microsoft Windows Vista support driver index ;(
