Windows XP goes into the BIOS to communicate with hardware devices

Hello.

I would like to know Windows XP uses the BIOS layer to communicate with the hardware? Can Windows simply talk to the hardware directly or does aid in the BIOS?

Thanks in advance

Victor

I found my answer on Youtube. Woohoo...

Will change the bios fix it?  If yes how?

    CharlesR salvation,

This concern is usually caused by an incorrect configuration of the BIOS of your device settings. If you have recently installed Windows 7, then most likely the boot priority is always set to the optical drive or USB (depending on which you have used in the installation of Windows 7).

The BIOS settings are dependent on the manufacturer of your device, this is why we invite you to contact the manufacturer of your device for assistance by changing its settings.

  • Communicate with hardware devices such as scanners and printers

I'm trying to design a test lab and I am a bit confused on the approach that would work well when it comes to hardware devices (which obviously can't be virtualized).

Our interracts of software with scanners and specific types of printers and that experiments play an integral role during testing of the software.  We are already able to connect these devices to multiple environments that are provided on request by our it Group (we do not use Lab Manager now for our test but continuing execution environments in ESXi environments).  So far its been easy because the environments exist directly on the network.

I searched in the laboratory as a way to automate and provide Manager

these environments faster but the link to the physical world is

    always interested me.

Given that the configurations are made of several machines, well there is also a dependence on the machine name/ip address for the configurations to work (we can also reconfigure those before using a configuration but less repetitive work better)... for this part I was thinking of using closed networks that tie together with Active Directory looks like this will be a problem unless I have to create a domain controller in the configuration.

I can't find any script that I could use at the level of the configuration that would allow me to 'register' an environment on hardware devices so that they can be used together.  Is there such a thing?  or maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong direction.  I know there are scripts to start and stop and this is probably the best place to do (e.g., update the hardware device when a specific server is started).

Someone else encountered similar problems?  How did you work it?

    Thanks in advance!

If my understanding of your problem is correct, here are the steps you should take to perform the activity you describe.

    1. Deploy a closed configuration.

    2. Find the external IP address of the machine (s) who need to register with the material.

    3. The IP address of step 2 to save with the material.

    4. Run your tests.

    5. Unregister?

    6. Cancel the deployment of

If this is the correct sequence of events, then you should look into the SOAP API to automate this process. Assuming that all above steps would solve your problem, you can orchestrate this with an entirely external script to your LabManager system. We organize this kind of thing in a server of Continuouis Build for example, CruiseControl, TeamCity, Hudson...

Although we don't have any other external hardware dependencies, we do many other automation that depends on the knowledge of external IP addresses of computers deployed inside the gate.

Regarding the part of your question about Active Directory, I would put up my library with AD + preconfigured in machines. Then, all you have to do is bind addresses deployment configuration deployment hardware in time. The rest of your configuration may use IP addresses and names for internal configuration intra communications.

    Hi Maddy,

This problem may occur if the Windows startup files are damaged or missing.

If your computer has integrated system recovery options, you can try to perform the Startup Repair and check if it helps.

If it fails, you must have a Windows Vista installation disc and try to parade Startup Repair boot from the disc.

If the problem persists, try the steps in the article to rebuild BCD, boot from the installation disc.

Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

Because you replaced the hard drive, you can also get in contact with the Dell helpdesk for assistance.

    Hope the helps of information.

The best way to do what you ask is with the widget of Composition. Start with the ToolTip predefined, which by default displays the info on working capital. You can change the display option to click, which is what you are looking for. You can also add the close button or the info disappear in slowing.

  • Cannot get into the BIOS on my Sat A30

    Hi all

I have problems to enter the BIOS. I heard when I want to get into the BIOS I have to press the ESC key when Toshiba logo is shown in the startup.

    But nothing happens!

    Could someone help me?

    Sammy23

    Hi Sammy23
That is right. It's actually the ESC you press. But there is more to know. During the time where appears the Toshiba logo, that represents about 1.5 seconds or so machine "listens" for the ESC at the beginning.
Means that you have to be quick like a cat to press ESC. I usually press ESC several times all the way to the market (until the Toshiba Logo is displayed). Try this. Another way to get into the BIOS uses Toshiba HWSetup (looks like a key any) in the in the Windows Control Panel. You can access almost all the parameters of the BIOS from there.

    Hi there @BobMarley

I understand you are looking for assistance for the recovery of the BIOS by using the shortcut, or by using a USB key. I'm happy to help you with this.

Here are two documents for you to check. Of course, the first is specific to desktop computers and covers the shortcut key. The other property that for laptops also includes a section on the use of a USB device.

    Desktop HP - BIOS recovery

HP Notebook PC - restore BIOS

Also on the support forums, there is a process described by @HaggisCat, you can find of use in the preparation of a USB flash drive. You will need to have the correct BIOS softpaq to go with it.

    Hi Thomas,

The normal to access the BIOS path will be to press ESC then F1 during startup. This will give you the BIOS menu. Some laptops use ESC to show the progress of the POST and F2 to enter the BIOS menu.

F8 will allow you to start in safe mode.

F12 to select boot device (disk, CD, etc.).

When I restart my laptop I have the HP logo with the small "leak of press to enter the boot menu. Usually, when I press ESC at this stage, it gives me options to go into the bios, change the boot order and enter the Recovery Manager.

But earlier when I try to do it, by pressing esc it will start in the windows Boot Manager, giving me the boot options in windows or to do a test of memory and I don't see any option to get into the bios!

  • T530: Cannot get into the bios

    Hello.

The issue of this link does not seem to be solved with the last update of the BIOS (or it's a similar question).

I'm running 2.04 and since I have set to UEFI boot only I can't get into the BIOS. When I press Enter to interrupt normal startup the screen goes black, it seems to interrupt the boot but nothing looms on the screen. Starting continues after a few seconds (I guess that after the time-out of the screen of the interruption).

There seems to be a problem with the code modesetting, because if I connect to an external monitor to the VGA port everything works correctly.

Note that what is happening with optimus, as well as with only the active Intel card.

    Thank you.

This seems to be fixed with the last BIOS update (2.07).

Although a little more comments would be welcome.

    Thank you.

  • Pavilion P6-2378: Cannot get into the BIOS

I've recently updated my BIOS to v8.19 on my motherboard of Jasmine using service pack SP67068 after seeing a security warning on my original BIOS on the HP driver update site.  After the update, I am unable to enter the BIOS and more!  I see more startup or other screen.  Here's what I've done so far:

    (1) I entered "bcdedit/set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy" (and standard).  No splash screen.

    (2) I momentarily pressed and also pressed the ESC key during several start ups.  No splash screen.  When I press ESC after turning, the drive just stops.  To continue, I have to press Ctrl-Alt-Del to continue, and it starts Windows normally without a splash screen.

    (3) I went to change the settings of pc and navigated at startup in the UEFI Bios, but after the restart, but the computer crashes just until I press Ctrl-Alt-Del, then it boots normally into windows 8.0, but without the boot (legacy or HP splash) screen.

    (4) I opened the discount to zero the BIOS jumper and removed the battery for 5 minutes, several times.  No splash screen and press ESC or F10 after that reboot causes hang until you press Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

I wouldn't have updated the BIOS if it is not for the security warning, as it worked very well. Now, I can't get into bios no more.  Help, please.

Hello!  Yes, your right, it's the graphics driver!  But I had already updated just before I had this problem, so I rolled back the driver and still had the problem.  But then I realized that my TV is connected to the computer when I upgraded and downgraded the graphics driver.  I've updated the driver with the TV disconnected and VOILA, I see the spash screens and am able to get into the BIOS.  The graphic resolution of boot has been masking splash screens.  THANK YOU for your help.  I am very grateful.

  • Windows 7 goes into a loop of repair and does not start

A very kind person (Frederik Long) tried to help me, but couldn't.

    Now here is my problem:

Everything done my Windows 7 to stop starting, here is what I get:

A blue screen coated in white data flashes quickly and Windows 7 goes into a loop of repair.

I tried all the lines in the form of repair, including orders bootrec.

    Nothing works.

I then invested in Easy Recovery Essentials and that no longer works.

So if some genius out there can help, I would be very grateful.

Thank you for your help.  Sorry, I tried to thank you before but could not get this page!

Ultimately I was easy to work recovery Essentials and it solved my problem, whatever it may be.

  • Why won't my Microsoft keyboard work during the start sequence () trying to get into the BIOS)?

When you start up/reboot my system, my Microsoft Natural Wireless ergonomic Kayboard 7000 does not work to thus preventing me the ability to get into the BIOS to make the necessary changes. Can do something about it? Before ask you, Yes, legacy USB support is enabled.

This problem is usually a problem with the BIOS Setup.  Several BIOS can have different settings to enable / disable the USB keyboard / mouse access.  These tend to be listed as:

    Use USB legacy...

    Activate USB keyboard...

It is a major problem with motherboards that have the old PS/2 ports for keyboard / mouse.

Also, I found that if your keyboard is not directly connected to a rear USB port, you may have this problem.

And according to the number of devices USB is connected to your PC, if you 'maxed out' device (all ports used), your keyboard is not working as it should during the windows "pre-seed" process (including the BIOS screens "P.O.S.T.".)
