Windows XP Pro product key
I got a laptop for my father and I try to reformat & get going for him. I got an operating system disk Windows XP Pro to the place of the local computer. I am trying to install & using the product key on the bottom of the laptop tells me that the CD key is not valid. The Lady instead of the computer told me that the product key on the bottom of the laptop is what I needed. As I walked she told me that they reformat for $80. So if the product key at the bottom of my laptop does not work, how they will reformat? Something smells like fish on this subject. My question is how can I get a valid product key code?
This is a question for the people who sold you the XP disc. Microsoft sells more than XP, and as much as I know they will probably not help with activation. You might have a chance with the manufacturer of the laptop; they might be able to give (sell) you the installation media that work with the product key on the computer.

Blocked for Windows 8 Pro product key
So, I bought a copy of Windows 8 Pro on Ebay a little more than a month. I was able to install AND activate Windows 8 Pro with success at the time (1 month ago). It was a clean install on a new hard drive.
However, I decided recently (a week) to upgrade a bunch of material (card video, monitors, power supply and also temporarily hard drive)... and in doing so, I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 8 (on a HDD test,) then hard disk that I had installed Windows 8 on a previous month. Both of these fresh relocations a week ago, I was unable to activate Windows 8. My product code is blocked.
Am I blocked because of my hardware changes? Or am I blocked because I bought a bad Windows 8 (e.g. maybe I bought a MSDN code)? Here is the result of Licensingdiag.exe.
Thank you very much in advance!

Just bought the Windows 8 Pro in Windows 7 home premium upgrade. Fresh installed from a USB...Got mine sorted... I called customer service... you guys can check it out here for your countries respective http://support.microsoft.com/gp/customer-service-phone-numbers
So yes... to explain the situation, they will provide you with this diagnostic package... click on the package, reset your comp... and you should be able to activate your shiny new operating system... they were quick to fix my problem... Bravo to them... hope it helps = DMethod for those who don't want phone customer service:Your key is a unique key for update... meaning that it will not allow a new installation... unless you do the workaround of Windows 7 registry. You must open a run dialog box and type: "Regedit".Then I located this key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE /.And find one called "MediaBootInstall.Double-click that and change a 1 to 0.Then open cmd as administratorType the command "slmgr /rearm.You will get a restart of your computer messge.RestartThen when you restart your computer, you open a dialog box run again and type "slui.exe 3" and it will allow you to enter your product key and activate :) -
My Windows 8 Pro product key does not work to activate my copy of Windows 8 Pro
My work of Windows 8 product key is not
Step 1: Yesterday I bought a new hard drive clean Virgin and I bought Windows 8 Pro at a local big-box store. It is a complete copy. Not an upgrade.
Step 2: I removed all the other my system HARD drives and installed Windows 8 on the new hard drive. The system asked product key. I went in and everything installed perfectly. Windows works fine. I like it.
Step 3 However, when I went to 'activate' my copy of Windows 8 and I enter this SAME product key, that I used to install I get the following message "this key did not work. Check it out and try again, or try a different key. "I repeated this step at least 4 different times after the reboot. Still does not accept it.
Question: I can not activate my new copy of Windows 8. How can he accept my key for installation and then NOT accept for activation?
Help!
JWM
The problem was solved!
Step 1: I called Microsoft support MICRSOFT (800)
Step 2: I navigate through all voice menus for installation tech Support for Windows 8
Step 3: I explained the problem to the technology (Jerry)
Step 4: The tech had me find the search function and he get a function of 4 letters (I forgot the command). I executed the function, and I got to a screen that asked me to enter a code for the Microsoft Technical Professional. I entered the 8 digit code that the tech provided for me.
Step 5: I get to a new screen and technology (Jerry) explains that I am turned on.
Step 6: I restart my PC and I go to the 'System' page in the control panel and it shows that my copy of Windows 8 is activated!
The Tech explained that my copy of windows is an "upgrade" version (it isn't) and that is why I got the sentence. I explained repeatedly that it was a COMPLETE copy. Finally, I dropped my 8 Windows has been activated.
Call the technical support and good luck!

Product key bad for the wrong version?
Hello
Recently the computer in business inherited from a friend, very fast and very good. Regardless of the operating system no - geniue, is with Vista Business, while the thumbnail of authentication is Vista Ultimate. I took a screenshot of what it says when I put Vista Ultimate product key: (it does not appear if you are unable to use it: P)
http://S13.PostImage.org/57nfn5pqv/vistareg.jpg
He said: "the product key you entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista. You must run the Windows Vista Setup program or enter a Windows Vista Business product key."
How would the installation of Windows Vista? My files would still be there when you need him? My drivers would still exist? No matter what to get deleted or become unusable? He would return to SP1? Any response is welcome.
You can order form of the manufacturer's recovery media.
The reason why the system as non-authentique shows currently is using a license in Volume KMS - these licenses must be re-activated at least every 6 months by connecting to the KMS user license activation server.
It will require a reformat and reinstall whatever you do, unless you can connect to the KMS - Volume media server cannot be upgraded under normal conditions.

Re: Different Windows 7 another pro product key then press the down key
Hi all
Why is this?
Different product under Windows 7 pro key other then the button on the bottom of the laptop.I used 2 different tools to recover my product key Windows 7 Pro.
I have reinstalled this once using a defined recovery DVDs. Using 2 or 3 discs, but I do not remember that I had to enter the key when I reinstalled.I used nirsoft ProduKey. Can someone there check pls?
Mine is a 64-bit system.
One of my friends bought a laptop with a windows system 7 at home, but the office went to black. I told her check the product key, if it is the same as the bottom of her dressing room, then maybe the seller or someone else has used its product key on another system and Microsoft has taken this key on a blacklist. I don't know, just a possibility.I tried to check mine, but it shows me a different key. Checked with 2 tools.
Thank you

Hello
Laptop Toshiba computers are preinstalled with an image of Toshiba. This isn't a single Windows operating system but a pilot cotaning package, tools and additional software.
Of my knowledge, the Toshiba preinstalled image is already activated by the factory.
The same image is used for the entire series laptop and I think that's the reason why the product key of Windows 7 at the bottom of the device is different from the key used in the image. -
Update Windows 8 pro 8.1 pro - product key/activation required?
I have a dell latitude E5530 it came preinstalled and active with windows 8 pro. I get guests to update to 8.1 and indeed when I go to store the link is available. However, I want to know if I need the product key for this upgrade? Will I need to reactivate after upgrade? If so how can I get the current installation product key? The upgrade will also default 8.1pro?
Thanks for your help, I know that these issues are pretty basic but I can't seem to find the answers in the son and I saw the charges based on complaints from upgrade so I'm trying to be careful.
The product key for the 8.0, you already is built into the system (it was on stickers on the laptops, but now it is embedded in the BIOS of the motherboard).
The 8.1 update is a service pack, so it won't change your product key or activation, and no new key is required. It's just a set of updates.

EDIT: Additional information
Things to watch for.
Recently reported several cases of blocked MSDN keys packed with the media looking legitimate. I can not stress enough to save your packaging, media and reception, if you buy software such as this to appeal to the Bank, you bought it and report it to www.microsoft.com/piracy
If you bought a key, with or without DVD or packaging of EBAY, or any other person or seller and this could be a MSDN key because your key has been blocked you can check a few things yourself, if you have received your key with the physical product go to www.microsoft.com/howtotell and check your product, however some counterfeit software are thus convince you may not be able to identify it as such.
To check your PID press the key to victory and the pause at the same time, or system opened via the Control Panel, scroll to the activation section and properties related to computing PID will look something like this 12345-067-1234567-54321, the part that you are interested in is the section to three digits, if it corresponds or is included in one or two digits for the examples below You probably have a MSDN key.
065, 066, 067 for Ultimate, box 220 for Pro and the 230, 231 area of award, there are probably others, but they should be close to those that are displayed
If you have a similar PID, or your key is blocked and you want the confirmation message, a new thread with a report from the MGADIAG tool, download and run the tool, click on copy and paste it in a new post here and Darin Smith of MS can check your key for you. NEVER send your keys, the report will be sufficient.
