  Have you tried to install the updates manually?  If this isn't the case, I would start by doing this.  Click Start > all programs > Windows Update > view update history; Double-click a update failed, and then click the link under "More information."  This should take you to a page on this update and the file available for download.  You can then save on your system and run it manually by simply double-clicking it.  Alternatively, you can perform a clean boot before installing.

  I would like to know why my computer always returns an error when you try to check the updates from Windows Update and Windows Defender. It also cannot download content Microsoft Web sites, so the manual updates are not possible without another computer. I tried many clean installs a copy of Windows 7 RC (build 7100) and the problem occurs even when freshly installed (no third-party software facilities yet).
