Windows XP will not be updated (all pre April 8, 2014 updated)

Anyway I can force my XP copy to start downloading all updates of day April 8, 2014 pre? I installed it and for a few days, the download will not pop up in windows. Unfortunately unlike Win 7 there is no update button check either.

You must have Service Pack 3 before XP updates.

  • Satellite C850 - Windows 8 will not be updated

    Hi all

Recently bought a Toshiba C850 laptop for my wife.
Working in I.T the first thing I did was run windows update, it invites updates are available and starts to download.

However, it is just eternally on 0%, I checked the download folder in the distribution of software and it fills up with updates, but the windows update screen never changes.
I made some updates on the another victory of 8 machines on the same network so I know this isn't a problem with the internet.
Have reset the pc by using the reset my pc to function within windows 8, tried again and still the same.
A ran files hotfix microsoft... always the same support windows update.

Even if I chose an update to download and install only for sticks to 0%.
Deleted the contents of the folder dist\download software. picked up the update, this issue starts to fill up, but even after leaving, for 24 hours, its still on 0%

Have reset all components of windows update, checked nothing uses the same port as the windows update server and still no luck.

I noticed one thing, it is that if I try and stop the windows update service, and then the laptop everything grinds to a halt, it will begin to stop, however, then hang on the screen to stop.

The only one, it was so he could stop completely must end the svchost.exe that's more critical system process related to the specific process that is running.

Any ideas at all as I find myself with this laptop that will not update despite the set back to the factory settings.

Svchost.exe is a Windows internal process that hosts several Windows services (Internet Protocol is a part of the possible services)
Because svchost.exe is used as a common system process, some malware often uses a "svchost.exe" process name to disguise herself.

So maybe the laptop is affected by malware and therefore the update does not work correctly.
Maybe you should try to repair or to reset the system of Windows 8?

  • Windows 7 will not be updated

I have a laptop of 64-bit windows 7 that I use very often.  I started earlier this week and started day of windows for the first time in a few months.  He repeatedly identified several updates, but when I tried to download, the window update indicated repeatedly that the download of the update was stuck at 0%.  I tried to manually update a couple of more times with the same result (that is stuck at 0%) The last time I went through this process when machine (always to the poster that 0% updates were downloaded), and I made a hard stop.

Subsequent attempts to run windows update in the past days have failed, now windows update just turns continuously, never identify updates at all.  I tried to run the update of Windows Diagnostics program.  He said that he had set a number of things, but also identified a Windows Update error 0 x 80070057 she stated it could not fix.  I tried to empty the cache, but that did not help.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

TrashZone advice is probably good enough.  But I can tell you what I did for about 50 or if client computers in recent weeks that has worked very well.

I've seen this many lately.  This is what works for me and I did it on a large number of computers in the last 2 weeks.

    1. Change Windows Update settings to NEVER.

    2. Type services in the text box that appears when you click on the globe to start

    3. Select and open the services window

    4. Find and right-click on Windows Update (service), choose stop

    5. Close the Windows Update window.   If she will not close, start the Task Manager (right click on the taskbar) and end of the task.

    6. Now go to:

    7. Download 5 all updates are listed in a folder on your desktop.  Choose the correct column for your computer.

    8. Double-click on and start each one, one at a time.  Don't be surprised if one or more respond with already installed.  It may take a while to process.  This is probably one or more of them will install.

    9. You should not restart after each one ends, if there is more than one installed.

    10. Restart and wait for the Windows Update process to complete and automatically reboot your computer.

    11. Open Manager tasks again and wait until you see the percentage within the reach of the bottom and stay below 10%

    12. Now start Windows Update

The Windows Update process happens much faster that it would otherwise have.

  • Windows 7 will not be updated after you disable the upgrade of Windows 10.

We have a number of computers at work that all run windows 7 pro 64-bit. We cannot upgrade to Windows 10 because it is not compatible with our companies critical software.

    I disabled the update of windows 10 via;

    -Uninstall KB3035583

    -Installation of KB3065987

-Start-up of "disable update" in group policy under admin template/windows components/upgrades

He worked on all the computers except one. All other computers are updated to windows 7 with no request an upgrade to windows 10.

Simply, a computer that will not update hangs on the screen of "check for updates". I ran the Microsoft fixit50123.msi to this topic.

What other options can I try on this computer thugs?

    Hi Paul,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that one of the computers will not update for Windows 10 and I appreciate the efforts made in the patches that you have already tried. Let me ask you;

    • This computer is connected to the domain?
    • What security software is installed on the computer?

From now on, I would ask you to refer to the methods provided for in article below and check the status.

You cannot install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2

In addition, refer to the suggestions provided by Andre Da Costa in the thread below link and check the status.

I came across Best Buy, bought the first thing I have seen & to the left. It's just the small things. My main PC is myPC music recording studio (never online) so for my this, that I bought... I don't care.

a m9402f 7.00 GB 64-bit system quad-core 2.30 Ghz procesor.  On the 626 GB on the 'C' drive, I only used GB 129.  I don't know why I've bothered w/a Seagate external extreem HD 1000GO?  Works great, I've never used one before Vista but works very well.

Thus, recent updates do not keep install .  What's up with the updates? What is happening with this? Should I just go buy Windows 7?  I spend hours looking for solutions and never ask for help, but this time I am so tired so I'm going to ask.  Below are updates that keep a failure... Notice they're on SP2 * and IE8. My PC alread had installed SP2.  I tried an update for this.  I have switch from IE 7 to 8. I don't see any other reasons.

My computer is compatible for Windows 7... should I go and buy and put an end to this? I could put it apart for just photo software stuff... Let me see it done 7 computers in the House.  sheeesh! Thank you... it's me now to lock up.

Hello, I run the servers at my work, and systems are 64-bit.  It would be just that sometimes your system needs to do things differently running 32-bit.  Not sure why they choose to divide them, but that's how it is on my servers.

  • Windows 7 will not be updated, 'check updates' stuck forever. Help me please

    Hi all

I have a few computers where I installed a new windows 7 sp1. In these machines, I try to install the updates, but he said only updates for hours. It has been about 8 hours straight and still saying check the updates. I tried to do a few solutions that I found on the internet but did not work. Also, I had a chat with a tech from microsft and they gave me a few solutions, but did not work. Can someone help me with this problem?

    Thank you

If Windows 7 have problems to find updates, causing heavy CPU or RAM with the Svchost.exe process, use the reason that Windows Update could not automatically update the Windows Update Client.

in this case, you must download the update manually, it's the latest version at the moment:

Note: if you have problems to install this update, stop the service "Windows Update" and quickly try to install the update.

  • Windows Defender will not be updated

I am experiencing strange shift of internet and I think it's because Windows Defender won't be able to update. I am running Vista x 64 final. I recently started to receive a new error every time I start my computer, something to the effect of Windows Defender service is unable to start. If I try to start it manually, I got the error: 0 x 80070003: the system cannot find the path specified.

Normally I wouldn't complain about windows Defender does not because I have my own solutions, but I believe that it is still problematic within my system. Every half hour or so, my firewall warns me to say that something in a temporary folder called mpistub.exe or something is trying to access the internet. I found this exe is a windows update, so I allow it through. Now, I believe that because the service cannot start, the update is impossible to apply and continues to go to the internet to try to get a shift to internet update, causing news for my pc everything.

Someone knows something like that? I would like to reinstall windows Defender so that it can update itself and let my only internet. And I don't mean simply turning on or off; I can't do this if the service does not start. Oh and I tried to restore to an earlier date, it is not far enough.

  • my windows 7 will not be updated

If I do a year of cleaning on my computer by restoring the computer. I recently restored my computer, so I need to update, but the update of windows just keep checking the updates for hours and it does not find anything to download and install.

I did some updating, but I know there are more because I remember there is an update to download and install approximately 80 files, but I've ever had.

Microsoft has cut the windows 7 update or something? I know they stopped support for windows 7, but this does not mean that I can't update everything. I'll even install it manually if they give me a .exe in bulk for me to download and install.

I really don't want to update windows 10. why they do this for us... Why force windows 10 on us... people who still use XP... cant they see that some people do not want to upgrade?

  • Windows 7 will not be updated, so can't update to Windows 10

I'm updating someone laptop computer from 7 to 10, but the updates seem to cause problems.

The machine is just looking for updates for hours. I tried to install Win10 from a USB memory created by the media creation tool, but they want to to check updates before installing again.

This is clearly a problem with the Windows 7 update procedure and even more annoyingly I fixed a similar problem on a laptop at the time, but unfortunately I don't remember what I did!

Anyone have any ideas? It seems that the box of Windows 7 did not updated since March this year

    Thank you

I got it ultimately work by running installation of stick memory rather than downloading, which also gave me the option does not check the updates, but just to install Windows 10. This has worked, and 10 Windows runs on the machine without problems so far.

    1. IN the stop step #9 => did you uninstall .NET Framework 4 Client Profile , or you go to step # 10 has?

2A. When you started to see #10f, were KB2570947, KB2616676, KB931125 (update root certificates) & the Malicious Software Removal Tool , the selected updates to be installed?

2B. what (s) [including any error number] you got during the installation of the system failed?

    Notwithstanding these questions...

OPTION A: Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.

OPTION B: There is a good chance that you see the effects of a hijackware infection!

NB: If you had no installed anti-virus application or subscription has expired * when the machine was first infected * or your subscription has expired since or the machine is not kept fully corrected in Windows Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: go to OPTION C below.  A repair install won't help!

Microsoft is sponsoring free, online (third!) for questions:

OPTION C: Your misguided use of Wise Registry Cleaner, cleaner CCleaner registry and/or Ashampoo may have "screwed the dog" here.

Follow the instructions in this post of mine in another forum (to-the-letter & in order!) to restore your computer to a State safe & functional:

If you need additional assistance with the clean install, please start a new thread in this forum:

Note: The computer must not be connected to the internet or local networks (i.e. other computers) in its current state. All your personal data (e.g., banking online & passwords credit card) must be considered at risk, if not already compromised.

Wish I had better news for you.  Good luck!

    1. uninstalled the .NET Framework 4 Client Profile
    2. one. Yes, these updates have been selected
    b. same error as before.  'A problem on your computer is preventing the updates being downloaded or installed' no error number.  Just say install again or try the troubleshooter.
