window mail contact restoration of system backup and restore files
I backed up my system on a portable hard drive, he said, he would return to the top of my window vista email contacts and emails, but when I tried to restore themn he wasn't able to find it can help any one?
Hello
The WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file is the file of database of WinMail. You will not be able to backup and restore that easily. You should back up the registry keys and the entire message store and no not only the database file. The WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file is only the database and does not contain messages. The messages are in the same directory, but under the directories that correspond to message folders in WinMail. Old Windows Mail would be apt file to search for.

Hi Debbie West,.
This is usually caused by a corrupt message store. To rebuild the mail store (WindowsMail.MSMessageStore), follow these steps:
1 save the email that you want to keep. While the reconstruction of the mail store should not result in any loss of e-mail, it is always best to be safe.
2. close Windows Mail.
3. click on the Start button, then on computer.
4. navigate to C:\Users\your user/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Mail name.
5 delete the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore
6. open the backup directory.
7. open the new directory.
8 remove WindowsMail.MSMessageStore.
9. open Windows Mail to rebuild the mail store database.
You should now be able to view and delete problematic messages.
Note - in order to follow the directions above, you must enable 'Show hidden files' in folder view options

Recently I had to reformat the hard drive...
Husband saved windows mail (?). Records will be more important, but they are all empty. Here's what's in this issue of WindowsMail... any help?
windowsMail type - msmessagestore file
file type-NEWSPAPER edb001do
Thank you
The WindowsMail.msmessagestore is the database file and has no message, messages as eml files which are located under the directory of local folders in subdirectories that match the foldernames. So copy all the Windows Mail directory to the new machine, including subdirectories. Then right-click on the file and go to properties and make sure that they are not read-only. Then in WinMail go to file | Import | Messages and choose the format from Windows Mail and point to this directory. See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for more information on the message store.Stevewrote in message News: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy *... Recently I had to reformat the hard drive...

My messagestore Windows Mail file has been damaged.
My file that I use to store emails from Windows Mail has been altered somehow. It is under \AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsMail\WindowsMail.MSmessagestore
I can not get the Import Wizard to find and use the file above. I can locate if I go through my computer, but when I click on the file it just open Windows Mail.
Is anyway to fix this corrupted file? Or even just to rename so I can get in to see saved emails?
Help! Any ideas?
TIA!
The WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file is only a database that contains information about the messages. It contains no messages. The messages are in directories named after the names of folders in WinMail and are stored individually as eml files. So if you are looking for messages, search *.eml. Whenever you close Windows Mail, you are prompted and that there are messages in your Outbox. There are also messages blocked in other folders, such as Inbox or deleted, you cannot delete.

original title: impossible to file attachments in mail
Hello; I'm with family Vista premium and windows mail as a messaging system. I was with IE8, and now I've migrated to IE9.
When I get an email, under windowsmail with attachments, I can't file attachments by using the file command menu. This option is blocked. Under windows mail, I went to tools, options, security and made sure that: Let not the attachments which are unsecured... box be deselected. It makes no difference, and I still can't save attachment like this; I CAN SAVE BY CLICKING and opening the attachment and save it but it is not satisfactory that I can't save the attachment by using the file command menu.
Can you help me please?
IE9 is certainly the culprit and there is more questions. I know that some MVPs have contacted their MS threads about it and even received no answer.
My guess is that MS will not address this issue. Do not forget that the development team of Windows Mail is dissolved by the MS in June 2006. (Yes, while Vista was still in beta). I seriously doubt they care.

Windows Live Mail, Mail.MSMessageStore, and SuperFetch
I now have serious problems to make Windows Live Mail to
drive at a reasonable speed, probably due to the size of this file
at first more more than half the RAM installed on the
computer, where the compression of the WLM database
stop working; so beyond the size of the RAM installed less
the size of the Vista system section the size of the WLM
program and make the start of WLM so slow I can't
to use it:Mail.MSMessageStore
The obvious solution, install more RAM, is not currently
appropriate given that neither the mother nor 64 bit Vista Home
Premium can more than manage the 8 GB I have already. It can
become a solution, but ONLY if the memory card
manufacturers to begin laying the more memory on every suitable memory card
for this computer and then upgraded again Microsoft offers to
the more expensive versions of Vista.I already tried to disable SuperFetch in Vista
because it seems to be responsible for the first part of the problem-
He made my very heavy use of WLM discussion groups section
This file used so strongly that SuperFetch is always try to keep
in memory every time that WLM is running, and also the copy used
during compression and stored in the Compact folder; but there is
simply not enough RAM to contain both of these files as well as the WLM
program in memory at the same time. There not much helped - WLM would be
commissioning fast enough, I could see it working, but the WLM upgrade to
version 2011 for months, I was busy on other issues
seems to have either deleted or hidden on how user controls
often the compression occurs, so I could not simply trigger a
compression. If she is only hidden, where is he now? If it's gone, could Microsoft
offer a program a bit like WMUtil which allows to compress
Mail.MSMessageStore of files larger than the amount of RAM?In addition, Microsoft would provide an option that makes this file to hold
little more than the name of the file actually keep what
already done this so great record and moving most of its other
contained in a separate file, for which the file name is changed to the
least as often it's compressed? Only the very heavy discussion groups
If users need this option, but it looks like one of the
simpler ways to exclude most of the current content of this file
to have SuperFetch force all in memory.Microsoft adding export and import functions for focus groups
positions to WLM, similar to that already in place for electronic messages,
while I would have at least the opportunity to export some less
frequently accessed records of discussion groups, but the import sections
them later?I suspect that the second part of the problem is part of WLM
herself - when it starts, he's trying to put all the program more
All Mail.MSMessageStore of the file into memory at once and can not
handle the case where the RAM is simply not big enough to allow this.[post abandoned on April 15, 2012]

How to uninstall windowsmail and reinstall
I'm unable to use my server Myone.com.au and they told me to uninstall my Windows mail and reinstall.
I am not able to send emails.
You can try to remove your e-mail account. Then close WinMail and compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/). Then add your account to mail back again and verify with your ISP that you have the right setting for the SMTP server under Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Servers and also under Advanced, make sure that the port numbers are correct.
