What e-mail programs do you use?  Windows XP can use Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail.  Windows 7 can use Windows Live Mail.  None of them have Windows mail.

By default, Outlook Express mail and contacts use these folders in XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\user \Local Data\Identities\ {identity } \Microsoft\Outlook Express
\Application Data\Microsoft\Address C:\Documents and Settings\user user .wab Guide\

Windows Live Mail uses this folder in XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\user Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

where:

User = your name of user of Windows XP
Identity = a string of letters, numbers and dashes

To import mail XP in Windows Live Mail on Windows 7, press ALT + F , click on import > Messages , and then follow the prompts. Owner, Boulder computer Maven

  • Aktivating preinstalled Windows 8.1

    Hello
    I bought a new laptop (https://www.toshiba.de/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?service=DE#tab0;)
There are 2-3 weeks. First of all, everything was fine. But then a few days ago Windows 8.1 startet to panic. Many functions no longer works:
could not activate firewall nor Defender
could not change the settings sometimes
could not update or reinstall Windows
    ... and so on

So I decided to "repair/reinstall" Windows with the CD of my friend because there is no CD of toshiba when I bought the laptop. After that, all the problems have been resolved, except the activation problem. This time I finally got an error code: 0xC004C003. Which means that my key was probably has been blocked all the time. How can this be?

I discovered that the CD of my friend's Windows Pro and I think that I only had normal Windows. But why it does not work until I "fixed" my PC with the CD Pro "wrong" to Windows? Why Windows wanted me aktivate Windows suddenly out of nothing? I tried to get a correct Toshiba Recovery CD, but it's quite expensive (around 40 euros!) and I don't think that it can fix my problem.

Each new book offered with Windows preinstalled is actually pre-installed with recovery image designed for certain model of laptop. Recovery image is software which includes the Windows operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools/utilities and a few software additional.
This preinstalled recovery image is also saved on the HARD drive as back-up that allows that you said HARD recovery disk image installation in case where there is a problem with OS preinstalled that you got with your machine. Each owner of the laptop can also create recovery media (USB or DVD) using of preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. This recovery media can also be used for the recovery image installation if the installation of HARD drive recovery unbootable, or in case when the HARD disk is damaged and must be replaced. This is described in the paper manuals user s. I guess you were not informed on this subject and you didn't create this recovery media. For about 5 years, Toshiba does not provide records of installation with new laptops. Recovery media must be created by the owner of the laptop.

Please note: original recovery image should not be enabled. You can install it 1000 times and each time after the first connection to the internet OS will be activated automatically.

After the clean operating system installation (installation of non-recovery media) you will not be able to install the recovery image using disk HARD recovery option. It works with the factory only settings.

    You now have two options:
1 / to order the original installation disc of recovery and install the original recovery image that should NOT be enabled
2 / to install Windows using another media, but then you have to pay for valid license code

In my opinion best solution for you is to have the order image backup and recovery by Toshiba recovery disc.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • [Solved] T440s unbootable after recovery

    Hi all

I have a laptop of lenovo T440s, whose mother has been replaced a few months ago.

Today, I want to do a clean install (windows 8) using the recovery USB I created before the replacement of the motherboard (note that I already used it and it worked before changing the Board of Directors).

It goes through various stages, delete files and create the partitions, but when it's actually the computer is not able to boot to the hard drive. I have the following messages:

Intel (R) Boot agent Ge v1.5.43 copyring (C) 1997-2013, Intel corporation

    ... during initialization and linking...

PXE - E61 - Media test failure, check cable

PXE - M0F - boot agent intel coming out

(looks like so he attempts to start on the pci lan)

Then he returned to the start menu where I have the choice between:

    ATA HDD0

    PCI LAN

If I select the first item, nothing happens, and the LAN PCI gives the above error message.

I tried to reset the bios default settings, but it did not help. So I wonder if it has something to do with some change to the ID of the motherboard, bios version...

I also launched the lenovo fast storage device test to check the hard drive, and everything was ok.

So if you have any inputs or suggestions that I could try, I would be very gratefull

    Thank you!

Edit: problem solved, I had to change a bios option in UEFI (the new motherboard has been set default to legacy, spoil the whole recovery process)

    I finally solved the problem.

I spent a few hours trying to repair the bcd with different methods described on the web using /RebuildBcd, Bcdboot Bootrec and also to define the good partition as active. However, none of the methods worked as I always had several error message telling me that it is not possible to access the material (or "failure when you try to copy files from a startup." after bcdboot for example).

After that I realized that the new motherboard default settings have been set to "Legacy" for the boot mode. I spent to UEFI, then went to the recovery (with new partitioning) process and it was ok.

I hope this will help others, avoiding slowing trying to solve the dcb in the command prompt (actually I don't know if it could have been corrected as well...)

  • XP unbootable after using the recovery disk, but Linux will be

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L25-S1216. I had some bad virus, so I used the TOSHIBA Windows XP Recovery and Applications/drivers DVD provided with the computer when I bought it. I had used this once recovery DVDs or two before without problem, the last time was about 1 year ago. The recovery process seems to be okay: he seemed to format the disk and copy the files from the DVD to the hard drive. He copied about 5 600 MB hard disk for about 10 minutes and 40 seconds.

But the computer does not boot from the hard drive after using the recovery DVD. I tried the process several times and it does not start in Windows XP on the hard drive. I checked the settings in the BIOs to make sure he can start, but it does not start in Windows XP on the hard drive. All I get is a white screen with a horizontal blinking cursor, nothing else, no error message, nothing.

Then I got a copy of Linux (Fedora 14 live) on a CD and started on the computer from the CD R - W, DVD R drive. Then I loaded Fedora 14 hard disk. , I can boot into Linux (Fedora 14) of the fine to hard drive. In fact I use Linux to write this e-mail now. I also see the files that have been copied from the DVD recovery Windows XP on the hard drive, when I'm on Linux.

Does someone has an idea what could be the problem? The only difference between now and the last time I used the recovery about DVDs a year, is that I had to replace it internal CD R - W, DVD R drive, as a mechanical part was broken. I replaced it with the same exact model (TS-L462) who was in the computer when I got it is new.

    Thank you

Not sure how a restore xp cd may give you the option to start the recovery console.

With a regular xp, recovery cd / repair console is launched all simply by selecting the 'r' on the configuration screen.  Subsequently, the recovery console opens and takes you to the drive prompt.

In any case, what I suggest is to execute commands to drive at the command prompt that could make the drive bootable again.

    the commands are:

    Chkdsk /r

    Fixboot

    bootcfg /rebuild

    FIXMBR

Normally, fixmbr running on a laptop is not recommended because it disables the hidden partition that contains the files for recovery.  Then re-enable it manually, is not easy. But since you have your on dvd, then you are lucky.

  • Installation of recovery on Satellite C50-A-1Jn

My son has a Satellite C50-A-1john and was doing a restore of the partition of drive hard, but stopped at halfway.

When it tries to start, it receives the message "no boot device - please reboot."

He did not create a floppy disk to restore his laptop, but I found where I can order one from Toshiba. Before I spend £30, I want to know if it will restore his laptop.

Recovery image installation can not be interrupted. Now, the laptop is confused and unbootable. Problem is that interrupted recovery installation cannot continue, cannot be started from the beginning and also not ended correctly.

What you need to do now is to get the installation of recovery disc and start the installation again.

After doing this you will have factory again and everything works OK.
Biggest mistake has been that media recovery is not created in the past.

  • Problems of recovery with satellite A30 303

  • partitions and recovery disk

I have a satellite a10 and have partitioned the hard drive. Now, I have a small primary fat16 partition with a bootmanager, a partition main ntfs with windows xp and a partition extended, completely occupied by logical ntfs partitions with my documents. My wish was to install another operating system, making the smaller primary ntfs partition and put in the form of free space unallocated as a new primary partition.
BUT... when I was doing the smaller partition, an error has occurred, and the computer is unbootable. Now, I think, my windows partition is damaged and have no chance to save.
WHEN I try to use the toshiba recovery cd, will I have any chance not to format the entire disk, backup of my documents? Is possible to format (install Windows inside) that the space left by the corrupted partition?

Thanks to all those who will read and help me!

    Hi there @MarcoFast

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are looking for help that your system does not start successfully after the upgrade to Windows 10. I'm happy to help you.

I realize that you may have about the reset of the BIOS, but I think you should try to work first of all through the process on this page. HP - computer desktop PC won't start not (Windows 10.8)

Then if you still have questions, I would recommend you restore your previous operating system, a feature that allows 10 Windows when you install an upgrade; You can restore 29 days.

I wouldn't do anything with the BIOS until you are in your previous operating system, assuming that this is necessary at all.  Here is the rollback of the desktop computer BIOS method: PC desktop HP - BIOS recovery

    1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.

    > I do not have the windows installation disc, because it was not provided when I bought the laptop.
The disk was not provided because it was possible to create a recovery disk using Toshiba disc creator software recovery which was available on the HARD disk!

The Toshiba Recovery disk is NOT the same thing as the common Windows installation disc!
The recovery disk contains an image, and you can just run the recovery disk to put the laptop in the same State as on the first day of purchase. This means, you HARD drive will be formatted!

If you don t want to lose the file on the HARD drive, I recommend booting from a Linux live CD or disc of WinPE.
WinPE is downloadable and you can create a bootable CD.
Then you could get access to HARD drive and could back up the data on external HARD drive or USB key.

Google for WinPE or linux live CD for more details

  • Created recovery disc is ok, but does not start Satellite A300

    Hello
as the title suggests, the disks fail to start, details below formatted for reading easier (I hope :))

    -All-new series Toshiba A300
-J' have created a disk of restoration with the toshiba utility, there was no error, the files are there but the drive seems to be unbootable.
-This happens with both attempts, I made, using Verbatim r and Sony + R media.
-The recovery disks will NOT start on my desktop system either.
-L' laptop starts fine with a couple of distributions Linux on CD - R.
-J' use F12 to tell the laptop to boot from the DVD.
-J' have much experience dealing with the LiveCD, bootable disc burning, etc., so I'm inclined to think there is a problem with the toshiba utility.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hello

There is certainly nothing wrong with the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.
I burned the recovery disc too. Once it failed because I did not use fully compatible DVD. Then I tested it with TDK - R and everything went well.
No errors, nothing. Finally, I booted from the DVD and could reinstall the OS too.

I presume that you should check the other DVD.

    Good bye

  • No system boot, how to access the recovery partition?

    Hello
While messing around with win7 and xp (from vista that was preinstalled on my system), I managed to make my computer unbootable.

I made the recovery discs when I came to my computer, but I left with my parents... which is be the other side of the world (literally).

However, I also kept the "recovery partition" intact, I hoped I could start somehow, but I don't know how.
I tried holding down the zero, F2, F8... of other ideas?

If not, is there another way to do it from a live CD? (like the one I currently use to write this message)

    Chris.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to access the files for recovery. It can be done if the laptop has only factory settings. You use updated the system with two operating systems. If you want to have the factory settings again you can have with using the recovery disc only.

I put t know how long it will take but maybe you should communicate with your parents and ask if they can send you the recovery disc as soon as possible.

Otherwise you will have to use the installation disk of Microsoft for clean operating system installation. It can also be good solution for a few days until what you expect of original disc.

  • Help! My MacBook goes to sleep when the disk (on the recovery partition) utility is running!

Currently, my MacBook is initialized in the Lion recovery partition. I am running disk utility and try to reduce the main partition, so I can clone a smaller HD (Yes, still there is enough space on the smaller disk.) But I have a problem... my custody of Mac to go to sleep, resulting in a never-ending cycle of wake - sleep-cancellation. The progress bar is apparently stuck to half way through. I don't want to touch anything, for fear of making the disk unbootable. (Of course, it is possible that it is already in ruins, but...) But I also have other things to do; I want to stay here all day just to keep typing on the keyboard, move the mouse, etc, to keep my Mac awake.

Never mind. Looks like disk utility is stuck, and nothing happened. After a reboot and a repair, the volume is OK, but not shrunk.

  • Satellite L40 - 18Y: corrupt system files - how to use the recovery partition

    Greetings,

One of my friends bought the Bulgarian electronic Toshiba Satellite L40 - 18Y (PSL48E) from a major retailer and insists on the fact that it came without any CD, but the first time he installed Vista.

After that some of his other friends have uninstalled Vista and XP for unknown reasons (he says that some drivers and patches were necessary to make XP work properly, I think he might have something on LBA48 and SP1).

In any case, installing XP died, and the disk share is the file system is damaged.
After I removed it with gparted I have two disk actions now.
1st row in the table to partition: ntfs share labeled WinRE (no hidden bootable)
(He has a stash of file RavMon.exe and autorun.inf which implies that damage to the installation of XP are perhaps caused by a virus)
Second row in the partition table: empty (installation of XP was)

Third row in the table to partition: ntfs share with data

The problem is that the first partition unbootable and act like partition recovery, even when I toggle the boot flag.

It is all recovery partition and how I should go?
I read in some messages if you press '0' when the computer starts the Bios it will start automatically, but it did not work.

A manual which was available for download for this model on Toshiba Support site the key has been specified as F12. It didn't work either.

I'll be very grateful for directions, solutions or ideas.

    Hello

There is perhaps a little change to reinstall Vista with the HDD recovery procedure.
Please check if it would work.
-Turn on the laptop and press F8
-Check if there is an option called fix my computer
-If so, select it, and then choose the last option called Toshiba recovery.

But to be honest I don t see the chances it would work because you have already removed the Vista from the HARD drive.

You must have read the user manual before deleting the Vista.
The manual (Chapter 3), said that if the recovery DVDs has not been handed over with Notepad then you create the DVD using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator (is was also preinstalled). The user manual also describes the above HARD drive recovery procedure.

However, the recovery DVDs can also be ordered here:

  • HP Recovery Manager in Windows 7

I have HP Pavilion DV5 - 1111en with Vista Home Premium, but my little doughter hard disk crash and the operating system unbootable.

I change the hard drive with a new one and also I change the OS with Win 7 Home Premium. I reinstall all the drivers, the laptop works very well.

Using an external hard drive I plug the old hard drive and I see that the HP_Recovery partition is intact. How can I recover my old files?

I can't find HP Recovery manager for Win 7.

    Thank you.

    Hello

If you installed a retail version of Windows 7 (IE not an HP upgrade) you wil cannot find HP Recovery Manager, because it is only supplied with the OEM version of the operating system from HP.  As you have Windows 7 DVD to reinstall the OS, it is not really necessary anyway.

The recovery Partition, you can see when your old HDD looking at just the files etc to reinstall the old operating system (Vista), it will not contain any of your files, photos, etc.  To locate these, if they are not corrupt, look in the old HARD drive C:\ partition.

    Best wishes

  • problems with recovery / disaster assistance recovery

I have a compaq mini 110 with xp. I accidentally compressed disk hard when I tried to get some free space, so Xp is unbootable.

I'm doing the emergency recovery according to the instructions in my manual. I created the recovery initialization program disaster (SP42226.exe) to my USB and it starts the program of Roxie BackOnTrack, but the problem is that it requires a 'game' (*.) Where can I find that this restoration put somewhere, or maybe create one with another pc? Which folder these files sib_dr of roxie backontrack would be located if I have them?

Is there another way to restore my pc? Preferably something that costs nothing and I don't lose any of my files! Oh and if there is a restore partition (F11, F6 regardless), I can't get that either, given that the Boot Manager is compressed. Anyway is to decompress the drive without having to restore everything?

I'm getting desperate, so any help is very appreciated!

Okey I've now managed to start xp!

I found a windows xp recovery cd that I got for my old pc. So I installed to a flash drive (using Novicorp WinToFlash) and booted from that. I am now unpack the drive and will try to boot from there after that I'm done. I'll let you know how it turns out.
