Wireless G USB adapter

OK, I'll do my best to explain what I'm trying to do, so that is:

I left my PC the original location in the living room where the internet has been implemented in my room where it is not set. I got a very long cable and it's that winds through my kitchen in the House of separator in the living room (I live in a basement suite). Now, I don't want to have to call the cable/internet company to come hang internet access in the room, I would use the wireless G USB adapter I bought.

Now, I would like to keep my router in the living room and not have a cable that runs through my house, but Wireless G USB adapter will allow me to do? I manage the router to the router itself, the IP address, so I need to add the MAC address of my PC to the list of allowed devices and wireless adapter should work?

I hope this makes sense and I hope someone can tell me if I have the right idea or not before I have to move things around .

Thank you!!!

You should have no problems with this set up. My neighbor the w/speed of usb wireless adapter boost to his desktop computer to connect to my router and had 2-3 bars of signal strength. And I also had a friend who lived in the street w/wireless usb adapter connected to his laptop, his NIC was not working and was able to connect with my router.

If I were you I would configure the router and adapter usb first before picking up the ethernet cable. Just make sure that you disable your LAN device in network settings for the network for Vista or XP, and the wireless device is detected and enabled and working properly. Good luck and hope this helps.

I'm guessing that it's version 1, because it is not any version number, written on the back...

in any case, the adapter is used since December 2008 and had no problems before...

it suddenly stopped working and gives the 'USB device' ball not recognized on a Vista laptop...

I tried on another laptop and the result is the same, I tried to reinstall the drivers from the CD and that I got on the linksys website, it still does not work...

the unit ran his life already?

As the card is not getting detected and you have tried it on two different machines, it seems that the device is defective.

  • WUSB54GC Wireless - G USB Adapter question

I have a vista computer running with a wireless router model: WRT54G2 V1, and a computer with adapter WUSB54GC xp who usually find the wireless network, im using WPA-Personal encryption.

    Any help would be grateful.

Oh and by the way, I can connect to the network with my phone without any problem.

I think you need to change some settings of your router for the wireless part. Follow the steps below and change the settings of your router.

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...

For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.

    Click on the Wireless tab

-Here, select manual configuration... Wireless network mode must be mixed...

-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...

-Set the Standard - 20 MHz Radio band and change the Standard channel to 11-2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...

Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...

    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...

Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything... Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings...

Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network... Click the settings advanced wireless

Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...

Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

  • D-Link DBT - 122 Bluetooth Wireless Network USB adapt

My adapter doesn't kick in on my Windows 7. It worked well on my Windos xp. ideas everyone. Thank you Ed

He worked for XP because that D-Link provided drivers specifically for Windows 2000 and XP.

D Link has published NO drivers for the DBT-122 since July 2006, which means that there is NO support for Vista and Windows 7.

Look for something that is Windows 7 friendly. Have a look here...

Hello doc78, I checked out the Kindle Touch and the show of specifications:

    Wi - Built-in Fi:
Connect to Wi - Fi hotspots at home or on the go. Includes free access to Wi - Fi hotspots AT & T through the United States.

The specifications did not show the version of the wireless device. It could be the published versions to date, version A, B, G or N.

As you have found a new wireless router, I suggest to get the N version, since it is the most recent and sends and receives a greater distance and speed than the versions A, B and G.

The Kindle Touch maybe not the wireless version N device, but would still be retro-compatible with the version N router, but only at speeds of wireless Kindle Touch device.

Router purchase N version assure you that you have later, right now, for future updates wireless.

  • Problems with wireless USB adapter. Icon missing "Wireless network connection".

I recently got a laptop HD malfunction cause me to start my PC from 2004. I bought a Belkin N150 Wireless USB adapter to connect to the internet connectivity. During the installation, I do not get a "Wireless network connection" icon I am running Windows XP SP3. I installed the same USB adapter on a computer running Windows XP SP2 and it works fine. I double checked the drivers, reboot the cable modem, so that appropriate services were activated and still no dice. I have read forums and I'm almost at the point of paying MS for technical support services, but it's really just my last step before I shell out money for professional help. Notice to lovers? =)

    Hello

Well, at this point, you should make an executive decision.

If you think that someone will take just guilt because it's comfortable, it is not going to happen.

If a new card that is known to work does not work, then you can try to re - install Windows.

One of the differences between computer enthusiasts and regular users is the availability of the material. I have a set of wireless router, network cards, etc. that are known to be good.

The components are used for the sole purpose of trying them temporarily on the troubled computers to rule out hardware problems.

  • Cannot access Internet even if the router USB adapter Wireless G made the connection and

Hello, I recently bought a Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster model WUSB54GSC to go with my Wireless-G Broadband Router model WRT54G2 and I can't access the internet.  The laptop tells me I am connected and that force is Excellent, but when I open my browser, I can't access any site at all. When I try to add the laptop to my network magic on my computer, it tells me that it cannot connect with the laptop.  My Nintendo Wii and Itouch work perfectly with the router so I think it's my browser settings, but I can't understand it.  Thank you!

Hey, thanks for trying to help out.  It turns out that my firewall did not allow the laptop to access the internet.  I made a few adjustments on my firewall settings and it all worked out great.

Is it possible to test this adapter?

What is the model number for the adapter?

You should try to uninstall and reinstall the adapter to do so follow the below mentioned steps.

Remove the Linksys adapter and uninstall the Linksys software menu programs... Re - install drivers insert the CD of Linksys install in your CD-ROM drive, when the welcome is displayed click on exit, connect your USB adapter now... When the Hardware Update Wizard window appears, click on install the software automatically (recommended) and then click Next... Click Finish when the installation is complete.

NOTE: The hardware installation screen may appear indicating that the adapter has failed the Windows Logo test. Ignore the window and click on continue to continue the installation because the adapter has been tested and it works with Windows XP. When Windows has finished installing the driver, click Finish.

Click Start and go to control panel and double-click on network connections. Right click on wireless network connection, and then select view available wireless networks "-If you see your network wireless in the list, the highlight by clicking 'single' on it now, click on the 'Connect' button below-if your wireless network is secured, it asks you to provide the network key - provide the wireless network key and confirm again in the confirmation box and click 'Connect'."
