Wireless icon disappeared

My WiFi icon has disappeared from the network connections, (sometimes it reappears)

Hi YCain,

Remember to make changes before this problem?

This problem may occur if the following conditions are met:

ؠ There is an incorrect entry in the Rasphone.pbk file. Some third-party programs may create invalid entries in the Rasphone.pbk file.

ؠ There is a problem with the driver for the wireless network card

Method 1: If you don't see the wireless network connection icon in the network connections folder, or if you cannot view the properties, there is a problem with the driver for the wireless network card. To resolve this issue, see the section driver installation problems .

Method 2: Download and install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), see the article below

  • wireless system tray icon disappears when the wired connection is present

When I plug in ethernet, the wireless icon disappears in the system tray.  Sometimes I connect to a Wi - Fi, and at the same time.

Is there a way to make it stay put?

    Hello

It is not possible to show the two notification icons when you connect to a Wi - Fi network and at the same time in the system tray.

When you connect to a wired connection, it will display the wired connection icon and if you connect to the internet wireless, it will display an icon of wireless connection. Both will appear in the same time.

However if you have connected both cables and wireless Internet, it will show you one of the two icons based on the priority that you have set.

We can change the priority of the network connections and make them follow an order of desired connection. You can make Windows 8 use wired connection instead of wireless. When you start your laptop, if there is a wireless connection, your Windows laptop will connect to the Wi - Fi connection. Even if you connect to a wired connection, usage will continue to be the Wi - Fi connection. This is because, when more than one network connection is available, Windows uses the one with the lowest metric value.

To change the priority of network connection, follow the steps.

    a. press the Windows key + C.

    b. Select Search and then type network connections.

    c. now, click the ALT key to open the convening of Menu bar. Click on advanced settings. This will open the properties box.

    d. under the tab cards and links, you will see the list of connection and Windows services related to the order in which they are consulted by network connections and others. The default value is Wi - Fi, Ethernet, and then remote access. The network connections service manages objects in the network and remote access connections folder, in which you can view the local area network and remote connections. Using up and down arrows, you can change their order and set it according to your priorities. When you change the setting as shown above and make Ethernet as first choice, your laptop will use the wired connection first by choice.

    e. click OK and the output.

Your Windows PC will now follow this order of priority when the detection of the available network connections.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • HP Pavilion DV6: Wireless in the mobility settings icon disappeared

Normally, I do not use my wireless but connect via cable.  I used it in the past but not recently.  I have upgraded from the computer to Windows 10 about a month ago, but did not check to see if the wireless worked before I upgraded so I don't know if the upgrade has caused my problem or other somethng

The wireless won't tun on.  It lights up normally by going to the Windows Mobility Center panel.selecting control and then clicking on an icon of HP.  I tried to do, but it would not turn.  I tried different patches and the icon disappeared.
The HP icon, when it was there said something like "added by HP.  I'm sure this icon and his dissapearance is my problem.  However, I find anywhere where I can download a patch or app that will add this icon back in.

My motto is a Qualcomm Athros AR5009

I saw the forum for some possible and tried fixes without success.  I checked the BIOS and also reinstalled thedriver for the currency.  I also downloaded a different driver from the HP site.  Nothing seemed to work, or bring back the missing icon.

Glad to hear Windows 10 clean install fixed.  Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • Wireless networks icon disappeared in network connections

I ran a software malware recommended by my administrator (Verizon) internet agent after a long period of trouble connecting to the wireless router. After telling it to remove the files mentioned, I'll be back to see the wireless icon is missing under network connections in the Control Panel. No idea what happened to her. Now, I can not access the router somehow. What can I return this icon of wireless networks. ?

I do not think that you do not forget the files that you have deleted or 'malware software' you used?

I would like to start by uninstalling and reinstalling your wireless adapter.

If you have an external wifi adapter, go to the manufacturer Web site and download the latest driver for it.

If you have an internal wifi adaptor (probably in laptops), go to the computer manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your wireless card.  Most computer manufacturers provide a link for the correct driver after you identify the specific model of your computer (in the case of Dell, use the "Service Tag").

Save the driver a place that you will be able to find (on a USB flash drive if you have used another computer)

Open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK)
Expand the "Network adapters" category by clicking on the +.
Right-click on the entry of your wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
OK, go out of your way and restart.

If the Add New Hardware Wizard does not open when Windows reboots and detects the device, go back to Device Manager, right click on the entry of the wifi adapter and select Update driver
On the Hardware Update Wizard screen, don't let it connect to Windows Update, but select "Install from a list or specific location."
Click 'Search for the best driver' and also 'include this location '.  Click on the "Browse" button and navigate to the folder where you saved the downloaded driver (unpacked already, if you downloaded in compressed form).  Make sure you select the subfolder WinXP (or a similar name).
Click next and the adapter must install.

Assuming that the above results in an icon for your adapter in network connections wireless, there is more to do.

Right click on the network connections icon, then select Properties.

Make sure that shows the 'General tab '.
In the box under "this connection uses the following items", you should have 4 entries:
    Microsoft Networks client {needed}
    {Required} (TCP/IP) Internet Protocol
    Sharing files and printers for Microsoft Networks {necessary if you want to be able to share files and printers}
{Optional, but usually present} QoS Packet Scheduler

If these elements are not in the list, make sure, using the install and following dialogs.

In the wireless network properties dialog boxes, click the tab 'wireless networks '.
Make sure the box to "use Windows to configure my wireless" is checked unless you have the utility of the manufacturer do this work.
    OK your way out

The wireless icon in the taskbar notification area has been replaced by the wireframe icon.  Since I always use the Xe off wired connection wireless connection isn't helping.  How to bring back the wireless notification icon?

The switch is on and without thread is working but I don't know until I try to connect a place - and wants to get rid of the ed - X on the icon.  But oddly - the wireless icon won't appear again.   So I worry about this unless it disappears again.

  • All the icons disappeared spontaneously (charging, home, folders, files exe in tabs, favicons)

I use the latest version of Firefox (as of 3 October 2014 impossible to verify what version because I don't know which button to press - see question) on Windows 8.1. I did not close the browser, but all of a sudden all THE icons disappeared. If I click on the blank spaces, functions will continue to operate (for example I can always close a tab), but I don't see what follows: Reload, Home, buttons etc. Bookmark folder icons; No icons on the settings tab; Exe in the upper right corner of the tabs; Favicons.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • Drop bookmark icon disappeared. Using view > toolbars > customize to add, but it disappears as soon as I click on Done and leave the Customization screen.

I opened Firefox, and all of a sudden my icon to bookmark on the right side of the screen which opens the menu drop-down disappeared. I keep trying to add it by going to view > toolbars > customize. It appears that in the Customization screen, but once I click done and close the window to customize the icon disappears again. How do I add back and he can stay once I click done?

Just to clarify what cor - el said earlier, if the classic menu with the bookmarks menu bar, then the toolbar button that does the same thing becomes hidden. He hid before Firefox 23, only when it's on the Navigation toolbar, but now he seems to hide little matter which toolbar it is on.

If you're in the bar of classic menu for two compact columns (orange Firefox button) menu, then button to the bookmarks toolbar reveals itself. But then if you want the full menu bar you have to press the ALT key, or press F10.

  • Desktop icons disappear

Having just downloaded the latest Firefox update (I'm on the beta channel), as soon as it restarts, five of my desktop icons disappeared. I have more than 60 icons on my desktop and I don't remember what they are. Is it possible to know what icons have disappeared and the recovery please?

    Hi markyb208,

I'm not sure what you have a problem with Firefox.

Are you talking about icons on your Windows 7 desktop. In a standard installation, Firefox will try to add an icon on the desktop, but it shouldn't do something to remove the icons.

  • Pavilion p7: the desktop icons disappeared

When I started my pc this morning I founf that all my desktop icons disappeared

Hmm, that's strange. I wonder if you might have accidentally switched to Tablet mode, where the desktop icons would not display. See switch between Mode desktop and Tablet (Windows 10).

If this does not work, try to install the Windows updates and reboot your computer. I would also like to run a virus scan. Good luck!

    Hi Ewan,

When your CD icon disappears from the "My computer" screen, you are able to see your MATERIAL-> the DEVICES MANAGER CD-ROM. If Yes can you run the option against it troubleshooting.

Second, when your icon disappears your CD-ROM always registered in your BIOS settings.

If the answer is yes then it should be possible to recover the situation without resorting to a full recovery of the system of your recovery CD.
