With Satellite C660D-181 performance issues

Hello

Hoping someone can help me.
I've had the above machine now for about 2 months and it is so incredibly slow. It has 6 GB of ram and a processor double heart and was bought to replace a child of 4 years another laptop.

Constantly, it crashes when loading pages. Farmville is the worst offender, however it happens with all pages.
I'm at a loss as to why complete what should be a very capable machine is unable to deal with the most basic of tasks that an old Dell has no problems with at all.

I searched the forums and have heard of software conflicts possible, but all I have loaded is software AVG.

If someone could please point me in the right direction, now I seriously think contact Toshiba for my money, this machine is so bad.

Hello

I know what you mean, I think I can help you
I had a similar problem with the new laptop, the fact is that several applications running in the background and this could slow down the performance. The CPU and RAM can be overloaded. In your case, I recommend disabling of certain processes is not necessary.

But first download and install the CCleaner. It is a free software that allows you to clean the registry and remove the garbage system.

Then start the msconfig and switch to the Startup tab.
You will find all the processes that are loaded at startup, when windows starts.

Remove the mark to disable the process.
If you n t know exactly what is controlled by the process, don't disable it.

  • Satellite C660D - 181 Power Cord issues and can not read CD or DVD

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660D-181 and my power cord has had problems with the connection. I plugged it in and the light on the left indicating it is plugged in and charged off and my cell phone begins to lose his load.

I must escape around and try to get it just in the right position to show him it is plugged. I have it plugged into an extension of the Strip which is connected to the main outlet (and the only outlet) in the room.

I use it exclusively in the living room so I'm close to the telephone and TV, so move it to another room will not be the answer. I'm afraid that the repair costs would be too high and the purchase of a new laptop computer is out of the question for now.

Another question, I'll have, it's that I can't read a CD or a DVD. I have Windows Media Player and Apple Quick time Player. I chose to play the media instantly, but it still does not work. I installed cc registry cleaner to see if it was a registry problem, but no joy there. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

The most important issue to address at the moment is the power supply cord. I appreciate your help. Please, profane as computer jargon escapes me.

    > I worry that repair costs would be too high and the purchase of a new laptop computer is out of the question for now
What is this option? You want to fix it yourself?
Don t think that it s a real option since you would need good parts, hand tools, maintenance and find out how to fix it.

Since you and I don t know exactly the cost of repair, I would recommend first asking how this fix could be I mean, you can request a service in your country for a price and could decide if its worth for you

  • Satellite C660D-181: Questions about the 3D feature

Hi guys, I'm new on the forum, but not for Toshiba laptops,

I bought my girlfriend Toshiba C660D-181 earlier today, and myself, I think it's a great phone for the price. Especially the amount of Ram
    and the graphics card.

One thing I'm confused is part 3D Capable.
What is meant by 3D Capable, that it allows to me? Do I need additional equipment?
I have no idea how to use this feature, or what he actually did. I know that 3D capable means generally (although on 3Dtv) that you can view a 3D with glasses content.
But exactly how it works, if so, on this computer?

I'm a little confused about that to be honest, and any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Paul

    Hello

The laptop is equipped with the AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics card.
This graphics card supports 3D graphics accelerator and a 120 Hz 3D, Toshiba TruBrite HD, LED backlight display.

This means that the screen is 3d compatible, so you can see on the screen with DLP 3D or polarized or shutter (all are rare and special) drinks.
Therefore, the laptop is 3D ready.

You will need these glasses to watch 3D content.

    Welcome them

  • Compatible wireless network cards for Satellite C660D-181

    Hello

is it all the same to discover what are WLAN cards are compatible in my laptop Toshiba C660D-181 girls?

The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, all drivers/bios are up-to-date.

    I tried...

Intel Centrino Advanced - N 6230 - detects, installs, wifi says "no connection is available" - FN & F8 does nothing

Intel Wifi Link 5100 - detects, installs, wifi says "no connection is available" - FN & F8 allows me to turn on wifi power but still do not see the connections

Atheros AR5BHB92 - detects, installs, wifi says "no connection is available" - FN & F8 does nothing

All of the above cards work in other laptops that we have in the House, Acer Aspire 5741Z (6230 Intel, Intel 5100 Atheros work and detect wifi), Toshiba L655 (Intel 6230 (bluetooth does not work), Atheros and Intel 5100 all work and detect wifi), Toshiba L450D (Atheros works and detects wifi).

I thought that the problem was initially that Toshiba C660D-181 is based on a chipset AMD (like the Toshiba L450D) and no WLAN Intel card would work so I had the Atheros AR5BHB92 cards instead. The Atheros installed and worked immediately in the Toshiba L450D but it won't work in the new Toshiba C660D-181.

Basically, I'm looking for a card that works on 5 GHz. The card that moved into the laptop is a Realtek RTL8188CE is only 2.4 GHz and we have a lot of wireless activity if I was alive, the 5 GHz range is clean and I get amazing speed to use.

    Any help/advice is appreciated.

    > is anyway to find out what are the WLAN cards are compatible in my laptop Toshiba C660D-181 girls?

No, I haven't found any details
I think the compatibility depends on factors such as BIOS or motherboard and this, if it is always different. Any Toshiba or a laptop from another manufacturer supports various BIOS and map different mother (smart)

But in most cases, you can get all compatible parts of a Toshiba service partner... so in all cases where you are unsure, I recommend you ask a favor for a part of comaptible

  • Really random issues with Satellite C660D-102

Hi, I've had this laptop for about a month now, and everything was fine until a few days ago, when a few strange things started to happen.

Firstly, at random times that it doesn't let me scroll using the touchpad and secondly it wont let me anything by clicking on the task bar or tabs in my browser and sometimes nothing on the screen is clickable at all. Another problem, it's just random, I'll be striking and flashes the right-click options to the top, and if I press left click, it does not, right-click options keep showing.

It all started at the same time, so I guess they are related. The only solution is if I use the Task Manager to stop the Explorer, then run it again and then it works again for a while but it's just unpredictable when it will happen, but happens about 60% of the time I use the laptop. It gets really frustrating now that I have a lot of work time and slows me down having to run the Manager of tasks all the time.

Please can someone shed some light on what they think may be the cause and how can I solve it. Thanks :)

    Hello

have you installed programs recently that can affect a laptop normal functioning? run antivirus software to check the virus if you have. Restore factory settings, then.

  • Satellite Pro S300 - Performance issues running Everquest 2

Hello, I am currently using the Satellite Pro S300-EZ1511.

I was trying to find a way to share the memory in the BIOS, but I've been reading around and it seems that you can not do this with these laptops... My question is, what I currently play the game Everquest 2, and I was talking to someone of performance that I currently have to run the game on the lowest setting, and we exchanged Plug and it turned out that his laptop was actually not as good as mine, but he managed to run the game with a better graphic quality.
Anyone who is familiar with this game, or you have any advice on how to increase the video if possible memory or to simply improve performance?

I think I should at least be able to run a top quality graphics game layer is... I was looking in the graphic propertiese (when you right-click on the desktop) and under setting 3d but alas I'm not sure what those setting are.
    Any help would be appreicated.

I find it strange that my laptop older can run this top quaility set then this laptop from new and better.

    > I think it was 1 G of ram and 64 MB or 128 MB ATI onboard card video (I think it was the 128)
I think that this is the reason why the game runs better on your old laptop because it of a ATI card and these cards are designed for games. There are a lot more nVidia and ATI cards, they are much better than the most recent card Intel graphics.
As resident said Intel cards are not designed for games.

Also did you check the system requirements for the game? He argues that Intel graphics card in your laptop?

The graphics settings are ok. S default settings and for better compatibility and performance. It do not change anything.
If you read on the internet that other people changed some settings why ask n t they? These people he'll know what to change, but I doubt that this can help you but it s worth a try! ;)

  • With Satellite Pro L300 wireless issues

    Hello

I recently install a new wireless network and a new laptop.

The wireless access Point is a Netgear WG102.

Wireless laptop card is a Realtek RTL8187B.

    OS: Windows XP SP3.

Everything connected correctly the first time and was allowed for the first days but it has stopped working. When the laptop was switched on it would not automatically connect to the access point.

When I opened the Windows wireless configuration utility it told me that there are no wireless networks in range. It was not true that there is a non-Toshiba laptop in the same room connected to the access point at full power and never had any problems.

As a matter of course, I updated the firmware on the router and updated the drivers on the laptop at the latest.

Realtek drivers came from their site:

    [http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=1&PFid=1&Level=6& Conn = 5 & DownTypeID = 3 & GetDown = false & downloads = true #R TL8187B]

I've even updated the Bios later and the problem still occurs and intermittently - still sometimes, when it starts it will connect, others he used.

When he used - Windows cannot disable or remove from Device Manager and crashes when you perform a reboot - it of like the unit is not an answer and causing Windows problems.

I couldn't find anything specific to the event opens a session on the issue.

I think to do a guarantee ask for it.

    Any suggestions would be welcome

    Thank you

    Dave.

    Hello

I would like to start with your last sentence. Warranty claim it is very interesting. Can you please tell me something first: you have Windows XP edition SP3 family of Toshiba recovery image or you have installed Windows XP SP2 home edition on your own? If you install on your own how you can make a claim under warranty. I'm sure that there is a problem with SP3. I always use SP2 and my laptop works well. Security features in Sp3 are not known to me, but I recommend you to check all the WLAN settings. Perhaps there is a new option that must be activated.

I assume that your laptop comes with Vista OS. Am I right about that? Have you noticed the same problem with Vista preinstalled running?

  • Discount rates & 3D on Satellite C660D-181

Windows says that the screen can run at a maximum of 60 Hz when the so-called specifications 120 Hz and how you enable 3D, do you need glasses for her?

I found specification for your model of laptop Toshiba UK page and I didn t find info about 120 Hz display inside.
Can you please post the link where you ve found this info?

As far as I know satellite C series is available with the standard 60 Hz displays and none of them can be used for 3D.

  • W540 with nVidia Quadro K2100M performance issue

    Hello

Recently received a bunch of W540 with the highest specifications here in Norway (REF: 20BG001CMN), but I'm a little surprised by the performance on the descrete graphics. I run the Benchmark in the Valley (http://unigine.com/products/valley/download/), and on ressolution of 1920 x 1200, I am able to get about 20 FPS. While testing on a game (not sure of the plug) 1 pc, we got 170 FPS. I got the latest driver from nVidia. I wasn't expecting this card for performance so low? We see the same results on several W540 with the same specc'd.

This card is just brilliant to CAD or y at - it something wrong with the drivers? Anyone else got any experience with this card?

Please be specific about the parameters.

Valley of the Extreme HD parameter on GTX690 (3072 hearts) gets only 75 fps. K2100M has 576 carrots.

170 fps is result Quad SLI or wrong settings.

So in short, 20 fps is fine.

This boot problem after a storm in my area some time ago.

Because other devices don't work properly and because procedure didn t get it back help you solve this problem, I think that the problem is related to the hardware malfunction possibly that the motherboard was hit by lightning, which would explain the problems

I think you should ask the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country to check the motherboard.

Hmm, I think that it would be difficult to remove a faulty screw, I think in this case you would need some special tools to do removed I think that a laptop technician should be able to remove this so either you will visit a Center technician for laptop or will get in touch with a Toshiba ASP in your country and will ask for help

    Hello

I was installing Windows 7 via the toshiba Recovery Wizard, but during the installation, the laptop freezes and I need to.

When I start it up again, it shows ups two error messages:
    (1) PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
    (2) reboot and select proper boot device

Then I can't go to the Recovery Wizard (F8), it does seem that these messages. I disabled the lan on the bios. The first message disappears, but the second is still there. The hard drive is recognized by the bios and the bootsequence is ok.

    What I did:
    (1) reset the bios to its default value
    (2) try to install with a win xp cd, but it hangs after some time and gives me a blue screen.

What can I do else? I appreciate your help. Thank you.

If you want to have the factory settings once again, you must install recovery image using the recovery disk.
    Have you created this disk?
