Without backlight blackBerry smartphones...

I spilled water on my phone yesterday and removed from said water as soon as possible. The phone was already on and never went. The screen blinked several times and I have taken out the battery as soon as possible and dried that never was wet. He really didn't get too wet. Everything works except the backlight.

I know, now, that I should have never turned it back and should he put it in a bag of uncooked rice, disassembled, dry. Is it too late to dry, and is there a way to fix the backlight?

Thank you.

It's never too late to try to dry out completely, but yes, you might have been too anxious to rehabilitate the battey and ruined.

Here are some additional tips for you: http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Got_Your_BlackBerry_Wet%3F

Bottom line - wait at least 5 days before inserting the battery again.

  • Backlight blackBerry Smartphones comes on its own

If I lock or just leave my phone and put it down, the screen will normally less light and off, but after a few minutes it turns. This is a new storm since I just replace the one I broke. It is significantly reduced my battery life and its very annoying. Help, please!

    Thanks in advance

Well, my first suggestion would be to look and see what applications are running in the background. Something is waking up the device. See my notes below.

In the second place, the first measure to be taken with any parasite on the BlackBerry is doing a reboot without danger of the device:

With the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart.

To avoid a freezing response development or late / slow on any BlackBerry, most important practice that you can adopt is to ensure applications CLOSE when you are finished using them.

If you simply press the Red "end call" key to return to the home screen application is actually open and running in the background. If you do this several times, you will have many apps open and therefore your memory will get used. Lack of memory is the main reason for your BlackBerry slows to a crawl or crashes. If you make a habit of actually use the menu button to close the applications that will at least slow this process memory-clogging. You may still do a battery pull or using the "Quickpull" app from time to time when things get slow.

Similarly, check your applications running in the background. There are four or five applications that will always run fluently (Messages, Call Logs/phone, BlackBerry Messenger, home screen and the browser; there are other third-party applications such as BeeJive and alerts of BlackBerry that will work also in the bottom that you can not close if you want they work). Ensure that the browser is NOT on an active Web page (open the browser and select the Menu > close). Close all other applications that do not need to be running (the camera or a game you were playing or Google Maps).

  • Switch to new device without old blackBerry Smartphones

8330 keyboard my daughter stop working so we ordered a replacement Verizon 8830.  She had already saved the old phone so I downloaded the latest version of BB Desktop software on his computer and save the old phone in hopes of transferring its contacts to the new phone when it happened.

Not knowing that the switch device Wizard requires you to have the phone connected to the computer to launch the device switch I sent the old phone to the carrier.

Is it possible to transfer old contacts to the new phone without having to first fix the old phone?

Thought I might get contacts save the file on the PC and drop it in the new phone backup folder and then synchronize hoping to fool the software?

Or y at - it a way to take the backup of contacts file and export it to text so that I can download on Google contacts, and then save it to the new phone with Google Sync?

    Thanks for your help?

    Hello

If you have already saved peripheral of your daughter, you can restore the data to the new.  Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software, connect the phone again, then under the device from the drop-down list (at the top left), select restore.  You can then navigate to where the previous backup file was preserved (as in your Documents or Documents folder > BlackBerry) and restore this file.

    I hope that helps!

  • Backlight blackBerry Smartphones and text messaging...

I have a friend who just got a curve and I was wondering if there is a way to have the backlight lights up when you receive a test message? I have searched but could not come up with anything. Thank you.

No, this isn't an option on the BB.

There could be a third-party app that does that (towers on your all when a new message arrives).

You can set your SMS to blink the LED on the device when you arrive, or you can get BBAlerts which will take your BB alert you audibly forever on receiving an SMS (or any message) until you turn it off.

  • Backlight blackBerry Smartphones

    Help everyone,

new to the Blackberry age and can't understand why I can't see my screen, it is very very weak in fact you can't even do anything on the screen, any suggestions?

    Thank you

Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most defects and errors of operating system, and you will lose any data on the device doing so.

    Does make a difference?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones how can I do a factory reset without going into the blackberry software?

    Hello

My Blackberry Curve 8520 I just "App Error 523".

Whether the bust means that I have to do a FACTORY RESET, but I was wondering how to do this without using the Blackberry Desktop software?

I wonder if the blue keys inside Blackberry anything on this subject.

    What blue keys inside?

You'll need a Windows PC. Period.

    (1) make sure that you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    (2) on your PC, go to start > run and copy and paste the following line exactly (i.e. with quotation marks):

    'c:\program files\common research in motion\apploader\loader.exe' /nojvm

    (3) the Application Loader Wizard will appear - click on "next".
    (4) in the ' connection: ' drop-down menu, you should see "USB - PIN: UNKNOWN". Click on the button "next".
    (5) you should see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Press Next and finish, and that you are well on your way to get your Blackberry to life. Congratulations! Just unplug and let the process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not display the list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead to see the message "the Blackberry Desktop Software has no Blackberry Device Software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator', then you must download the Blackberry operating system for your support and your device.

BlackBerry Device Operating System downloads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-device-specific/
Simply select the model of the device in the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the steps above again and you should be on the right track.

  • An other 'Wifi without data plan"blackBerry smartphones Question - Rogers Canada

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and blackberries in general... Please bear with me.

I am a student. Currently, I have a voice plan base on a LG Xenon with Rogers in the Canada. It includes minutes and unlimited texting. Enough for me.

I am looking to buy a Blackberry Curve 3 G/9300 off someone. I just want to throw my SIM in there so I can use my normal plan with the phone. My understanding is that I can phone Rogers and tell them to block all data, if I get no charge on my Bill. Fine. However, I also understand that the 9300 is a wi - fi phone.

Let's say that I get the 9300, contact Rogers and tell them to block all data on my plan.
Can I still use my browser in a Wi - Fi hotspot? How should I do? (I know that I read somewhere that you need to configure to be about to access and not talkspot... If someone could help me with this that would be great).

Also, I read that, so that I am still able to use a wi - fi connection, I need to have data 'on' in the phone. If the data is 'on' in the phone, but I've blocked data with Rogers, can I still use a wi - fi connection? This would prevent the costs of data on my Bill?

In addition, I understand that I will not be able to receive multimedia messages without a data plan. Once again, if I'm in a wi - fi hotspot... Can I receive these messages from photos?

I'm sure it's a question very well known and well hated to you all and I'm really sorry to ask, but I just need some clarification. I don't want to be stuck with a big Bill with I ever intend on paying data charges. If someone could help me with this, I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you very much!

In addition, I understand that I will not be able to receive multimedia messages without a data plan. Once again, if I'm in a wi - fi hotspot... Can I receive these messages from photos? No only simple navigation cannot be made and Pandora can be used in mode Wi - Fi.

I recently acquired a 8820, but I can't remove the security settings.  I'm currntly do not have access to a PC to connect the device to.  is there a way to delete the settings?  Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the community!

Exactly what 'security settings' you are asking about? Only these words, there are a lot of possibilities...

My guess - if your BB has a policy due to have been associated with a BES environment

    • KB30076 How to check for an it on a BlackBerry smartphone policy

and if you want that political removed, then see this KB:

    • KB14202 How to remove a policy from IT to a BlackBerry smartphone

You will notice that methods 1, 2 and 3 require the admin BES to do something... If you are no longer associated with the BES, then these methods do not work, which leaves... method 4 not requiring connection to a PC.

On the other hand, if I guessed wrong, then please specify exactly what 'Security Settings' you're curious about.

  • Curve Smartphones blackBerry without service Blackberry in Norway?

Hello. It is a follow-up question to another post.

I'm in Norway for 6 months. I have T-mobile USA with the Blackberry service that I intend to suspend this period of 6 months. The only provider of services of Blackberry in Norway (Trigcom) does not allow a 6 month subscription (1 year), do not know if others do.

I was just wondering, if I have the telephone service by a telephone company with no Blackberry service, which features in my phone I have not will be able to use. I can survive without the push email service using Google's Gmail for this period. But I rely on web browsing, google chat, google maps and other services intensively. I also use T - mobile UMA much, which works very well at home. The phone itself is excellent, so I was hoping to just put a SIM card and use everything normally except for the push e-mail and UMA.

Does anyone have experience with the help of a curve without Blackberry service while retaining all the features above? Ask yourself what to ask because I get a mobile service provider.

    Thank you!

    Hello

without a BlackBerry service, you have GSM and edge (no EDGE).
This means that you can do with your BlackBerry

    • phone calls (send & receive)
    • SMS (send & receive)
    • MMS (send & receive)
    • anything that requires no internet

especially, no navigation available, unless you have a Wi - Fi connection on your device.
