OptiPlex 3010 - PCI-e slots to prevent sleep?

I have an Optiplex with Win7 pro OS 3010.

I have a (RC-305th) Rosewill 4 port RS232 Serial Card occupy one of the card PCI-Express slots on the motherboard.  The serial ports work fine except when the system is idle.

Everything works, application, leaving the serial device connected to the card.  When I come back a few hours later, as long as the next day, the application using the serial RS232 port has stopped working.  He reads is no longer the serial device.  Swtpping the application, then by restarting has sometimes everything works again.  Other times I have to restart the PC.

I went the power settings and have done everything to NOT go to sleep.  It is my understanding that the PCI-Express request mode specification 'sleep' when idle.  What I want to do is to disable this option completely.

All ideas and thanks for the help.

I knew a lot of trouble when the maps in the series contain the MOSCHIP on DELL OptiPlex 3020 chipset.   I think you'll find that Rosewill RC-305th contains this chipset.  I bought two cards series both with the same CHIPSET (STARTECH VANTECH), the two MOSCHIP chipset.  Serial devices had been set up for weight scale Truck Stop (9406 Fairbanks series) in a Serial Communication continuous with continuous data flow.

Requirements for my Serial Communication:
Scale software installed on DELL OPTIPLEX passively listen to the COMM PORT communication as long as the COMM Port is opened by the software.  The scale of Fairbanks send data via an interface series in a constant loop.  What I find is the MOS chipset is idling somehow over time.   If I close and open the PORT Serial Communication will continue to listen passively to the stream.

I had the following problem with the map:

-Card series would have slowed after a period of TIME (5-15 minutes).   Initially the problem was related to PCIe power saving features, but I'm sure that issues are assigned to the MOSCHIP so.  In general, I have to CLOSE and REOPEN the port for the serial card process the incoming data stream

-After a period of time (a few days) the map would pass the bone, (not available in the device Mgr).  Attempts to remove the CHUCK, restart, reinstall the driver did not find the MOSCHIP series card.   To get the card works to new necessary physically reinstalling the card in a different SLOT PCIe for the operating system to recognize the serial card

Requirements for successful communication:

-Turn off all Power Saving settings in BIOS
-Disable all CommPorts onboard in the BIOS
-Disable all Options Windows power functions, specifically:
-State of the PCIe Power Management links - OFF
-Selective suspension USB setting - DISABLE "this should not be necessary w / PCIe.

CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:  Buy a card series PLX/OXFORD OXPCIe952 chipset.  For my DELL 3020, 7020, 9020 Optiplex machines) I have been using the STARTECH PEX1S1P952 (containing the PLX/Oxford - OXPCIe952 chipset) like this work for my needs.

My hope are some my find this useful.

3 & 4 usually diagnostic lights indicate a memory problem, see page 42 here:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/OptiPlex-3010_Owner%27s%20Manual2_en-us.PDF

First of all, try the following:

Remove and reinstall all memory modules and try to start the system, to see if that makes a difference.

Still does not start, remove all the memory modules [page 14] and then install only one module in the connector 1 and see if the system starts, and if the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module.
Do not start, move the module in slot 2 and still a time see if the system boots.

Still does not start, then remove the first module, and using the other, repeat the sequence described above.

Still does not start, purchase a new compatible memory module and try that.

Then, if the computer still does not start, it is possible that the motherboard has failed and must be replaced.

  • OptiPlex 3010 upgrade of RAM!

Hi, I have a dell optiplex 3010 with Intel i5-3470 processor and 4 GB of RAM and I want to update 8 GB or 12 GB / 16GB, sort of Rams which are compatible with my own desktop (8GB / 4GB per slot, 800/1033/1333/1600 Mhz by RAM) and I searched for compatibility with Ivy H61 bridge (normally (, it should be my motherboard), but I did not pay what I'm looking for.
    Thanks for the help!

    Hello

    Thanks for joining us.

This machine can hold up to 8 GB of RAM.

The type of RAM installed on your PC is DDR3

The speed of this motherboard supports

    • DDR3 1333 MHz (Non - ECC)
    • DDR3 1600 MHz (Non - ECC)

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you

  • PCI vid card will work on MBs that have a PCI-E slot?

I noticed that the PCI video cards will not work with a motherboard that has a PCI-e slot.  My ACER machine would use my GeForce FX 5200 (relented and bought a WG 220).  Now I have this HP Pavilion a1510n Media Center Edition 2005 that will not recognize an ATI Radeon x 1300.

The PSU has more that required, Antec 380W Green (even a pcie 6pin).  I tried to change the main display in the BIOS to the PCI, but should not be.  Also tried to install the drivers, then change the BIOS setting, still will not take.

I noticed that MBs with AGP are able to use PCI vid without the same question cards.

Is it me?  Other people running into that?  I know its sad to not use the pcie slot, but I have to work with the hardware I have.

Y at - it a trick to make the thing work?

    Found!

Although I've been using a PCI video card, BIOS asked me to choose the PCI-E option from the list of video devices of the pcie, pci and onboard.

The PCI option wouldn't work for the PCI in the vid!

    (HP Pavilion a1510n MCE2005-> ATI Radeon x 1300)

Never thought to try that, but when I was watching the IRQ I saw that he was not part reserved for PCI-E.  It is the question of the nature of the PCI-E and so tried it because I was thinking about it.

I hope this helps someone else.

  • HP dv6-3150us has a PCI express slot?

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02497785

I want to add an external graphics card and it is possible olnly via PCI Express slot or a slot express card, and this model does not have an express card slot.

I also discovered the mantanence and service guidehttp://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & lc = in & product = 4308465 this type of models support bluetooth module, since my laptop doesn't have a bluetooth, is it possible that the PCI Express slot for the bluetooth module is empty.

And I would like to know if it is possible for me to add an external graphics card or I need to change the graphc card that comes with this laptop?

There is no way to change or supplement the graphics system. I've seen the videos floating around devices of Frankenstein connected to the card slot wireless with the back cover open and then a powered external Bay with a standard desktop video card. Trying to put something like that will almost surely fry the motherboard, or at best will not perform very well. The mini pci-e slot for the wireless card is a 1 x pci-e bandwidth and video cards require 8 x bandwidth. So if you want to access a pci-e slot, you will need to remove the wireless card. Bluetooth on this model is made by a card in combination with the wireless.

Your laptop doesn't have an expresscard slot, as you acknowledge. They are available only on business models high end of our days, and the same limitations apply to have an external videocard connected through an expresscard slot.

You can change the motherboard of your laptop. You have a version with the Intel HD graphics only, and I'm sure that other versions of the series dv6-3000 used best graphics systems. You seek to a significant investment in time and money for it. Post back, however, if you want to just give it a shot and we can track down numbers of specific parts and manuals of instructions or videos for you.

  • The NB305 has a mini PCI-E slot?

    Hello
    I have a NB305 (PLL3AA-01E009), I have purchased from HN about 3 months ago.

I just read with interest on Whirlpool where a guy pulled apart his Aircard 880U and adapted from the mini pci-e card in his laptop computer "Dell".

As my NB305 has a light for WWAN (at the front), but no hardware, I wonder if she has the pci - e slot, where I too may be able to adapt this card?

I checked the specifications and is no pci-e slot - but the light on the front gives me hope!

    See you soon,.
    Rick

The light in the front doesn't say much. Loan of equipment (slot, antenna) and compatibility is important.
If I understand you well this guy that write you about has probably changed his address. What you want to change on your laptop?

If you want to use the AirCard 880U USB version of this card check card.

  • Lenovo Mini PCI-E Slot P500 locations?

    Hello

Happy holidays ~! Hope everyone is having a great time.

I need help to determine if the Z500/P500 manual material actually told the truth or not.
According to page 27 of the manual of the equipment to the Z500/P500 Ideapad, there are 2 Mini PCI-Express slots:

"PCI Express Mini Card Slot: Slot 2.

That means actually? To me, it sounds like there are 2 mini PCI-Express slots somewhere on the motherboard, but when I opened it upward, I only found one, and it was taken over by the Wi - Fi card. I looked under the slot where the Wi - Fi card has been, but I couldn't find another location.

Can someone tell me where is the second Mini PCI-Express slot? I looked carefully through the motherboard, but I couldn't find the other - I hope it was just because I haven't looked hard enough.

    Assistance specialists have an answer?

Thank you very much for your time and once again, happy holidays!

    -Zoey

    Hi Zoey

It is confirmed that the computer that you have only 1 location but this machine could be found also with two slots as the Z500

    Thank you

  • The attention! Error initializing PCI express slot 4 (for a PCIe used in the PXI-1033 chassis)

    Hello

I have problems with my PXI system. When I try to contact the 1033 chassis using his high card my computer does not recognize (the PC displays the message during the start-up stage: "alert!) Error Initializing PCI express Slot 4). It was working fine before, but the chassis has been disconected with the PC on. I read that it may cause failures of communication, but I have not found a good source for this problem. Could someone help me with this problem?

    Thank you very much!

    Victor

    Hi Victor,

Can you check something for me? One, can you try to disconnect the cable between the PXI and PCIe cards and try to restart your machine. When you do this, you still see the message? I know that you mentioned in your first point that the chassis is turned on when you see the error message, so I'm just trying to clarify what you mean by that.

Also, it is quite easy to plug in a cable express MXI upside down, so even if point 2 you said that the links appear to be good I had to check to make sure that the cable is properly connected. You have additional cables, you can test?

  • Pavilion p6340f: version PCI Express Slot p6340f

Hi all!  I'm upgrading graphic on the hp p6340f computer and need to know the version of the PCI-Express slot for the card that I get functions correctly.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

By checking several motherboards using the Intel G43 Express chipset (same as the one in question), they are all are rated 16 PCI-E 2.0.  The standard 3.0 is more recent than the date of reference of the manufacturer of your PC.  Some PCI-E 3.0 might be OK in this motherboard but make sure that they are backward compatible.

  • I can't get my computer to work when I move the NIC wireless to another PCI-e slot.

I bought a new graphics card for my desktop computer (e9220f HP Pavillion, MOBO H-RS880-Μatx ALOE), then when I tried to install it I noticed he had a profile higher than my last card and would require the displacement of the interface (p/n 502300-001) WLAN card to the PCI-e slot x 1 higher following. The problem is that when I did that I would get the start screen initial followed by a black with a half inch Bright screen multicolored in the form of a toothpick or a model, (green light with metal lines) run through a quarter of the screen there are 3 of these slots PCI-e x 1 which look identical to each other. Why can I not move the device map local network without any problem? Help, please...

If you can live with it in 'only the lowest PCI-e x 1 slot work.'  Then the big.  If you have to have in another location, then maybe try a USB wireless adapter led.

  • Façade Dell optiplex 3010 problem

    Hello everyone.

    "Dell OptiPlex 3010" I have a computer.

I burned the motherboard. I bought another motherboard. brand: ' ASUS H61M-K '.

I have a problem, please help.

Façade cable does not fit into the motherboard.

There are currently 15poles. but this isn't the entrance to the motherboard. How can we do?

    I'm waiting for your help.

    Thank you all

Dell uses connectors custom between their motherboards, and facades. They do not have info on wiring in this connector available to the public.

So unless you or someone else can map connections, you may not be able to use this new motherboard in this case.

And, you will need to purchase a new license for Windows to use this new Council because the Windows license that came with the 3010 is related to the card mother Dell. And you have to reinstall Windows anyway.

    Options:

    1. Buy another motherboard of Dell 3010
    2. Buy a new Microsoft license case, new, re - use all the parts are compatible with the new Board of Directors and reinstall Windows on your HARD drive.
  • OptiPlex 3010 with third-party RAID controller

    Hello

I installed an Adaptec RAID 1220SA controller in an Optiplex 3010 and contains two HARD drives in the annex. It is not all disks connected directly to the motherboard. The RAID card, or readers connected to it are visible in the BIOS, so they cannot be selected as boot devices.

The machine starts OK, past through the initialization of the controller RAID OK, but then it stops with a 'no hard drives detected' attention, giving 3 choices: continue, go to the bios, go to the automatic test utility.

However, if (continued) F1 is pressed, it starts perfectly among the RAID drives and everything works as expected.

Any ideas how to get rid of this error/warning message?

    Hi nehamanoka,

I got the same problem as you, only with an Optiplex 7010 and also an Adaptec 1220SA and a Promise Fasttrak TX 2300 raid controller.
    (press F1 to continue...)

I also tried a lot of things and my 7010, she collaborates with the following parameters of the BIOS (Dell):

General - startup sequence: drive HARD internal
System - integrated NIC configuration: enabled w/PXE

I have no idea why it works now and I had no problem with a 790 Optiplex.
