without using foreign key

use jdev 11.1.1.4.0 using adfbc.

today I work around with foreign key constrainst are in the db table. between parent-child relationship between two fields in a table.

without using the dbconstraint.

How can I use the parent child relationship.

What mean average.

without using the foregin db key constraint.

When the deleted parent field means throw child error exists.

How I can do without database constrainst.

I guess that I have already spoken...

  • subquery in the IF statement in the trigger, without using foreign keys

    Hello

    I'm studying ways to write a subquery in an IF statement, which is placed inside a trigger.
    I want to write sth like IF (: new.jazz not in (select goldies from T which...)) etc. I don't know if the fact that the IF is in a trigger adds a few additional restrictions. (Does?)

    So far, I've found the solution described here: comparison of subquery in the If statement , which I think is a little cheesy, I could have the "cooleststarinthegalaxy" instead of 1 and seems you need to do extra light, but always very lifting.

    I also read on the possibility to use MERGE, what I'm currently doing research.

    Is there another way?

    Thank you

    OK, simple answer... you can not write a subquery in a State of the IF statement, it is not part of the syntax of PL/SQL.

    Hello

    I wanted to know if it is possible to select multiple items in a listbox without using ctrl or SHIFT key. I write code for a touch screen application and you want to activate the user select more than one entry in a listbox control.

    I saw a similar post that had a solution for a tree control. Is it possible to do the same thing for a listbox control too?

    Can I remove Logical columns at the level of the business layer that I'm not going to use the layer of presentation as the ID or foreign key columns? It will not affect the relations to the business layer?

    Kind regards

    Hi Nestor,.

    It won't unless they are used as keys, columns sort order, the ID column or the likes. But you can leave them in the MDB layer and expose just in the presentation layer - just in case you need it later. It is not use all the resources or generate overhead. • Foreign keys without ON DELETE CASCADE; Database design question

    It's the 3rd company, while I work, where I see that created foreign keys
    ON DELETE CASCADE
    clause.
    My colleague said that it is created without the ON DELETE CASCADE clause in order to complicate the deletion of data (records of children). Thus, for codes of the Purge and archive, before we delete the parent table we must remove from the child table first.

    Occasinaly, something is wrong and we will end up disabling FKs make them all and then purging, archiving, etc...

    So, is it not better to create foreign keys with the clause ON DELETE CASCADE, rather than having all these hassles?

    Experience, no matter what you think?

    Personally, I am firmly in the removal of the brand of hard data camp. In the vast majority of cases, trying to remove an active parent is an error if the user must be informed of what they are trying to do and must make a conscious effort to do so (in other words, remove first the children).

  • Extracting data from table without refreshment and without using the tab key.

    Hi friends,

    I have a problem I want to extract data from table without discount in the text field without using the Tab key. When I enter a field value any value then the text corressponding should enter into corressponding textfield without using the Tab key.

    for example. When I get back emp_id 101 in a text field then first_name and last_name, address would come in to the text fields corressponding without refresh and use the Tab key.

    How can I do that.

    Thank you
    Maury

    Hi Maury,

    I guess it's similar to: retrieving data without refreshing rather than Re: value of a textfield should enter into an another textfield without using the TAB ?

    If so, the only change you want to bring on the first is to use the parameter "Onkeyup" instead of "onchange" in the 'HTML Form attributes of the element' element.

    Note, however, that the user must move away from the issue at some point (for example, to click on a button), so the onchange will fire anyway.

  • Problems with Vista after disconnecting external USB key without using 'remove hardware safely '.

    A week ago, I unplugged my external Seagate USB drive without using a 'Remove hardware safely' first of my Vista pc.  Since reconnecting the drive, I had a series of problems.  The drive itself seems to be ok.   I am able to read and write to files on the disk.  I'm not able to do is the following:

    (1) open disk management.  It hangs on "Connecting to Virtual Disk Service".

    (2) stopping or starting without windows to snap or take an extra long time to stop or start.

    (3) failed to start Google Picasa3 or Adoble Photoshop Elements 7.  They both hang him.  I am able to use other programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Miro, Norton Antivirus.

    Points 1 and 2 above work fine if the drive is not connected.  I plugged the drive into another computer (Windows 7) and ran Seagate disk checking utility.  He came clean back (no bad sectors) so that the drive is NOT corrupted.  (Check of the Seagate utility disk hung on my pc Vista.)   It seems that something related to the disk under Vista service is corrupted.

    I also see "driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk2\DR2." event message for different devices.  I also tried a restore to a point just before that the problem occurred.

    I don't want to reinstall Vista therefore looking for a solution.  Thank you.

  • Can we create a foreign key by using built in functions?

    Hi all

    I'm in the need to create a foreign key referring to an expression of a column in another table.

    For example, I try below and I got some errors.

    CREATE TABLE TABLE_A

    (

    student_id VARCHAR2 (30),

    student_name VARCHAR2 (100),

    CONSTRAINT fk_A FOREIGN KEY (student_id) REFERENCES TABLE_B (UPPER (column_name))

    );

    Please suggest if it is possible that a foreign key could be made in an expression or not?

    No - it isn't.

    You can, however, create a VIRTUAL column in the parent table, and then create a foreign key that references.

  • Foreign key, check force

    Hello

    This is the structure of two two table.

    Untitled.png

    DDL:

    CREATE TABLE TEST_PARENT
      (
        PARENT_KEY NUMBER (22),
        PARENT_ID NUMBER (22),
        PARENT_NAME VARCHAR2 (255 CHAR),
        EFFECTIVE_START_DATE DATE DEFAULT sysdate NOT NULL ,
        EFFECTIVE_END_DATE   DATE
      ) ;
    ALTER TABLE TEST_PARENT ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEST_PARENT PRIMARY KEY ( PARENT_KEY ) ;

    CREATE TABLE TEST_CHANNEL
      (

        CHANNEL_KEY NUMBER (22),
        CHANNEL_ID NUMBER (22),
        CHANNEL_NAME VARCHAR2 (255 CHAR),
        EFFECTIVE_START_DATE DATE DEFAULT sysdate NOT NULL ,
        EFFECTIVE_END_DATE   DATE
      ) ;
    ALTER TABLE TEST_CHANNEL ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEST_CHANNEL PRIMARY KEY ( CHANNEL_KEY ) ;

    Logic:

    Parent_id is always fixed to a Parent. But a Parent can have different attributes (parent_name here). Where the attributes are changing it will end the bu previous records put a value to effective_end_date and it will create a new line. New line will have the PARENT_KEY new PARENT_NAME with new effective_start_date and null in effective_end_date.

    Same logic applies to the CHILD table as well.

    What is the best way to put a reference to the type of the foreign key in the CHILD table that in case, will ensure that a child cannot exist without a parent now. I can't take PARENT_KEY as a foreign key to the same parent can change the PARENT_KEY and a child must always point to the parent ASSET (EFFECTIVE_END_DATE as null) folder.

    Thanks in advance.

    I would enrich your datamodel by tables of the object/version as:

    CREATE TABLE TEST_PARENT_OT
    (
    NUMBER OF PARENT_KEY (22) NOT NULL
    ) ;

    ALTER TABLE TEST_PARENT_OT ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEST_PARENT_OT PRIMARY KEY (PARENT_KEY);

    CREATE TABLE TEST_PARENT_VT
    (
    NUMBER OF PARENT_KEY (22) NOT NULL,
    NUMBER of VERSION_ID (22) not null,
    PARENT_NAME VARCHAR2 (255 CHAR),
    EFFECTIVE_START_DATE DATE default sysdate NOT NULL,
    DATE OF EFFECTIVE_END_DATE
    ) ;

    ALTER TABLE TEST_PARENT_VT ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEST_PARENT_VT PRIMARY KEY (PARENT_KEY, VERSION_ID);
    ALTER TABLE TEST_PARENT_VT add CONSTRAINT FK_PARENT_VT_PARENT_OT foreign key (parent_key) refers to test_parent_ot (parent_key);

    CREATE TABLE TEST_CHANNEL_OT
    (
    NUMBER OF CHANNEL_KEY (22) NOT NULL
    ) ;

    ALTER TABLE TEST_CHANNEL_OT ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEST_CHANNEL_OT PRIMARY KEY (CHANNEL_KEY);

    CREATE TABLE TEST_CHANNEL_VT
    (
    NUMBER OF CHANNEL_KEY (22) NOT NULL,
    NUMBER OF VERSION_ID (22) NOT NULL,
    PARENT_KEY NUMBER (22) NOT NULL,
    CHANNEL_NAME VARCHAR2 (255 CHAR),
    EFFECTIVE_START_DATE DATE default sysdate NOT NULL,
    DATE OF EFFECTIVE_END_DATE
    ) ;

    ALTER TABLE TEST_CHANNEL_VT ADD CONSTRAINT PK_TEST_CHANNEL_VT PRIMARY KEY (CHANNEL_KEY, VERSION_ID);
    ALTER TABLE TEST_CHANNEL_VT add CONSTRAINT FK_CHANNEL_VT_CHANNEL_OT FOREIGN KEY (channel_key) REFERENCES TEST_CHANNEL_OT (channel_key);
    ALTER TABLE TEST_CHANNEL_VT add CONSTRAINT FK_CHANNEL_VT_PARENT_OT FOREIGN KEY (PARENT_key) REFERENCES test_parent_ot (parrent_key);

    Using this you will not have to reallocate your child of the lines when a new version of parent is created and you will be able to have the independent channel versions of the parent versions (so no need to change all the children when the parents ends).

    the construction of views of parents and the channels which only show active lines.

    The problem you may have is to be sure to have for each point in time an active version and so I would not implement of an effective_end date, but inherit the effective end of the effective next to (which is a little more work but you will help gapelessness if necessary)

  • Optimize the foreign key for the removal of the cascade constraint.

    Hello

    JDeveloper version: 11.1.2.3.0

    I saw this blog and found something new to me: http://snag.gy/qI6dY.jpg

    Jdeveloper user interface, there is an option to select all tables to select the foreign key and set it for the removal of the waterfall.

    My project is deployed on multiple databases. I wonder where this change is registered. None of the project files is modified.

    Can I make this change (from limitations to the waterfall) for each database that I use?

    Here is the blog where I saw that: http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2013/04/22/master-detail-insertdelete-sample/

    I have my object associations optimized for the removal of the waterfall, but without the option above together, I always get constraint violations...

    Concerning

    Not sure however if you set the option the DOF looks like

    "EMP_JOB_FK' FOREIGN KEY ('JOB_ID') CONSTRAINT
    REFERENCES 'HR '. "" SELECT JOBS "("JOB_ID') WE DELETE CASCADE

    If you set the option to cascade for fk Job_id from the employees table.
