WLCs manage LWAPPs to use chs overlapping?

I'm a beginner with the wireless and more, the WLC. (I use a WLC module in a search report international No. 2851). I have a few general questions about the WLCM:

(1) I will deploy five laps out of the WLCM in a floor of a building. It's true that I don't have to worry of duplication of canals as the WLCM detects contention and change the channel? Don't I have to configure anything in particular about channels, on the side of RF?

(2) I have will be also using 7920 s in my deployment and want to ensure call quality when a user walks/wanders between the towers. I'll use static and 7920 WEPs s are on the same VLAN. Since all APs are associated with the same WLCM, is it true that I will not make additional configuration in order to ensure smooth roaming?

Thank you!

Greetings,

It is what it is supposed to do. It has been my experience and other institutions, this is not necessarily the case.

Regarding the allocation of channels, this device did a mediocre job, even though I have many more AP 5, so your mileage may vary. Be on the lookout for the same location co channel features where is not necessary to be.

Power settings also not are managed properly. Almost each AP in my installations are power 2 (17dBm or 50mW) level and it is only because I do not allow the maximum power in option. There is a wonderful document you must download if you want to be anywhere near LWAPP - http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/114/rrm.pdf

read especially the emission power algorithm and the algorithm of hole in coverage. I took the third AP of any AP has a threshold by default - 65, which means that if this criterion is satisfied that the power will not come down. My investigations are at 11 Mbit/s to-65dBm, that would mean my third AP since my first AP location will be at the edge of the first cell in the AP. If you draw three circles on paper, your first circle is where you want, the radius of the third circle must pass through the edge of the first circle... so now that you have to enter the second circle somewhere in there. This scenario is called duplication of 50% - where two AP (two 50% (a 100%) overlap to another AP. If in the case of a failure of AP - two others can pick up the slack. Well, if I draw my networks as such, what the hell do need me LWAPP for? I opened a TAC case and vain quickly actually, I got nowhere at all.

My solution for me is to redesign the existing infrastructure in order to have 20-30% overlap and have 11 Mbps cell boundries to-65dBm. The only way I'll be able to maintain the allocations of power and the channel will remove auto channel RF and power capabilities. I'll harcode that in. Perhaps, once the design, I get up and functional, I'll experiment with sections of the installation and let auto RF have a chance in a properly designed environment and see what happens. Unfortunately, I'm in a production of high-profile health care environment, and I'm not comfortable, especially given the results that I've seen so far.

I hope that you have determined that the 5 you need the AP was based on a valid poll, preferably using the 7920 as the survey tool.

If you have determined your coverage, throughput requirements, and plans for future growth, and read about what rate you can get each access point in the scenarios of data and voice and has determined that some areas may or may not be more densely populated with users using voice or data or both - then you should be ok.

Please think of voice being on the same vlan as data, which should be separate even more data wired people.

If you have many users then go ahead. If you think that the user density could bite you in the pants, he will and he won't let go.

If I have not scared the crap out of you yet, I hope to have given you some things to think about and tools to use so that you are not in the situation that I am currently.

However, being the payer cleaner remarkably well. I'm kind of the wireless "Mr. Wolf" in the film of our network.

Well - being

I need manage the bandwidth used, PowerConnect 6224 traffic collision and packet traffic. I downloaded the MIB from the Dell support site and I saw thar there are about 105 MIB in the downloaded file. My question is: in what Mib, I can find the OID which allow me to monitor the above?

    Thanks in advance

    Rogerio

Unfortunately, there is not a complete list of the different OID in different MIB. In order to find this info to simply browse through the different MIB seeking the OID, you need. We did some looking through the MIB and found these OIDs that can help you. Another thing to keep in mind is that the MIB downloaded are in general of a group of switches. So there are situations where a /OID MIB listed will work for a certain model of switch with certain level of firmware.

Another method, some people have had success, done using a SNMP walk.

  • With the help of new access points with old WLC 4100; LWAPP layer 2 switching 3-tier

    Hi all

We currently use two solutions Wiresless LAN - a 10 AP1230 access points-based autonomous (5 years) and a solution based on a Cisco WLC 4100 (4112, running 3.2) with 12 AP1010 LWAPP access points.

First thing, we are considering to replace the stand-alone solution with the WLC one. However, I'm not sure if we can use the new access points such as the LAP1041N or the LAP1252G with our current 4100 WLC. Access reported data sheets 'Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 7.0 or later version' 'software '. Does this mean that these access points can only be used with controllers running 7.0 or later?

If we are unable to use the new access points with our current WLC and need to buy a new controller: can we use access points AP1010 current with a new WLC as the Cisco 4402?

Second thing, it is that we want to expand the networks configured on the WLC 4100 to another site that is connected via VPN wireless. Wireless Setup guide indicates that the LWAPP mode can be changed from Layer 2 to 3 layers so that the access points can be configured with an IP address, which allows you to place access points basically anywhere as long as IP connectivity exists between the AP and the WLC.

Y does it as described in a document with the change of mode LWAPP layer 2 to 3 layers? Or ist just the following steps (if I understand correctly):

-Change the Mode of Transport LWAPP on the controller of layer 2 to 3 layers

-Creation of a PA-manager interface with an IP address in the same subnet as the management interface (tried that, without changing LWAPP mode transport first and not was not possible - error)

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Is it really just as simple as that? All information about it is very appreciated!

/ edit: I would also like to know if the 1260 series access point are backward compatible with 802. 11B. Whereas it is stated in 1040 and 1250 for example series data sheets, it is not particularly mentioned in 1260 data sheet.

    Thank you

    Michael

Well, let's start with the simple question/answer

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Yes, it's as simple as that.

As for other issues, looks like you would be better served with a forklift upgrade.  New controllers and new AP.

Now, the AP 1230/1240/1250. all work on the 4.2, 1140 code starts with 5.2 and 1040/3500/1260 are 7.0

The AP 1000 series is not supported after 4.2 code.

Refer to here for the complete list of the AP and taken codes supported:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7.0.html#wp610751

From what I see, the 4100 is not supported after the train of 3.2.

So, it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the upgrade.  If you are looking for a 80.211n support, you really want to be 5.2 or better, we had some problems with MRR + 40 Mhz channels, 4.2, 5 GHz band only.

I tried to restart my computer, the I tried to uninstall and reinstall uninstall, delete all files of firefox and folders, then reboot and then reinstall. Also, I tried to open the Profile Manager to edit my profile. After you have reinstalled several times and try to open the Profile Manager before launching firef0x, I got the firefox crashed window and the process in the Task Manager always uses 50% of my cpu. The most recent strike and then re - download gives me an error "the file is corrupt" and will not even install the program.

Kill the process that you see, including any plugincontainer.exe, only once firefox has stopped running don't try to update.

Completely unexpected instances of firefox running can sometimes be the result of malware activity.

  • What is superfetch? Its in my sTask window manager and he uses a lot of CPU power... .do I need it and what is?

The program is placed in my Windows Task Manager and takes a lot of CPU power, and I wonder what use it perhaps can cause? my CPU usage was 100% and my antivirus uses only 5%.

"Superfetch" and "The host Windows Services" take so much CPU power on i3, 3 gb Sony Vaio!

SuperFetch is a Windows service that is designed to accelerate the launch of the app by preloading some applications based on your usage patterns. Tune-up blog has a good explanation of what it does.

However, it should not be maxing out your CPU all the time. If it slows down your computer, you can try to disable it.

    To turn off:
    Open the Start Menu.
    Type "services" and press ENTER.
SuperFetch. search in the list and right click > properties
Set the startup type to disabled, and then click the Stop button to stop the service
    Click Ok

You want to make sure that your antivirus software is up to date and your computer is clean.

  • Open manage - can be used on a cluster NIC.

The subject is a little weird and don't know where to put it, but here's the situation.

I have a Power edge 515. I have two GB NIC.

I noticed on my a hostname called idrac-1SNMFP1 DHCP server.  I have never see this before. It was just sort of. I ping and it comes back on the network with an ip address of 10.1.0.55 and his life.

I searched and found that idrac stands for "integrated dell remote access controller".

OK, so I'm going on my dell servers and "10.1.0.55 ping - t" on a single computer carefully start cables nw on the servers where I can for a second or two. I see that one of the servers is indeed the IP address.  I can enter the lcd screen and see that this is the ip address of this server maintenance port.

I have implemented open manage on that server. Here are my questions?

    1. why the server called idrac-etc do not appear on my dhcp server before (from what I see in any case.)

2 - is only changing in the bios of the server ip address. I don't see anywhere to change it in the openmanage software. I have to restart the server to change and I can change the name to something more user-friendly.

    3. why I can't on the server from one IP address. What I mean by that

    If I put in;

    https://Backup2:1311/servlet/OMSAStart? mode = omsa & vid = 207122207229892

I can get on the server (its called backup2).

But if I put the IP for example https://10.1.0.55:1311/servlet/OMSAStart? mode = omsa & vid = 207122207229892

This isn't. It is the IP address of maintenance.

However if I put the IP address of the server that eg https://10.1.0.41:1311/servlet/OMSAStart? mode = omsa & vid = 207122207229892

    This method works.

    Finally

    4. the two cards that are in the network server are teamed together to create a single IP 10.1.0.41, they both seem to work.

Both cards can always be associated BUT have two IP addresses. It causes looks like I 10.1.0.41 and 10.1.0.55 since both of them are able to ping. I thought group put in place two cards so it became a nic but faster, because its two.

    Hello col288

    1. why the server called idrac-etc do not appear on my dhcp server before (from what I see in any case.)

I do not know. I have something suspicious about your environment or configuration has changed.

    col288
2 - is only changing in the bios of the server ip address. I don't see anywhere to change it in the openmanage software. I have to restart the server to change and I can change the name to something more user-friendly.

You can change from the iDRAC via CTL E BIOS when starting, via the web interface of iDRAC, or using the racadm within the operating system commands. http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/systems-management/w/wiki/3205.racadm-command-line-interface-for-DRAC.aspx

    col288

    3. why I can't on the server from one IP address. What I mean by that

    This method works.

    Finally

It is because this IP address is not local to the operating system. Port 1311 is an IPMI communication port to access the iDRAC. You can use any IP address assigned to the operating system, a loopback address or a host name of the system with the designation of port 1311 and should communicate to the iDRAC via IPMI. The 10.1.0.55 address IP is not local to the operating system, so it's off to your network, then he's looking for. IDRAC is not accessible via the port 1311 connections remotely. This port is only available locally. If you use https://10.1.0.55 it should display the web page for the iDRAC.

    col288

    4. the two cards that are in the network server are teamed together to create a single IP 10.1.0.41, they both seem to work.

Teaming has nothing to do with it. Collection is managed by the driver and the operating system. It has its own dedicated port iDRAC IP address (10.1.0.55) is on a port shared with one of the LAN on motherboards. If it is shared among the LOM are partitioned so that the bandwidth is dedicated to iDRAC. If you bought the add-on from the company and have iDRAC set dedicated mode then it uses its own network interface. The port of iDRAC has a symbol of a key on it.

  • Privilege in WLC management needs first 2.2

    The word Hello,

After you install a Cisco first 2.2 and added several WLC, my client wants to just a reading only the first management. Then, when I added WLC I provided SNMP v3 RO and no username/password / activate telnet/SSH.

The problem is that my customer wants to manage guest users of premium, I have of course some write type of privilege is necessary. Changing SNMP of ro to RW would be enough? Or maybe I need to add a user/password / activate SSH/telnet to manage? Or maybe I'll be times RW SNMP and telnet/SSH?

    Thank you very much!

    David

    Hi David,

most likely, you would need RW and ssh\telnet as well, but it depends on what type of operations, your guest user will have access to.

    Thank you-

  • WLC management

Does anyone know how to activate the WLC for an active WLAN management?

By default, this is not possible, but I was told that there is a way to activate this on the controller.

Management-> Mgmt via Wireless-> enable management controller to be accessed from Clients wireless check.

    I hope this helps.
