WMP Playlist limited to 10,000

I wonder if anyone has come across this oddity. I have a large collection of audio files, over 32,000 and I like load all in a playlist and shuffle the playlist and start listening to them. I was able to do that for years with previous versions of Windows and WMP, but now with WIndows 8.1 and WMP 12, after my return to the list of reading to do something else (another list of reading, video, or other) when I go back to the playlist, it has only 10,000 files, almost as if the playlist file type is restricted to contain only 10,000 entries. Does anyone have a solution?

There was a limit of 10,000 dating back many versions of the OS. Just try to save it under m3u. Do not delete the database, there was a similar offshore discussions and on - see:

  • How to synchronize a WMP playlist on a USB

I have a bunch of MP3s at home I organised with Windows Media Player 11 on my desk.

I want to put some of these playlists on a USB key, so my wife (who is not a computer genius) can play songs to his students on his computer at the school during art classes. Note that she has to play the songs of the USB and cannot import to the computer's music library, because it gets erased every morning (it's a policy at her school to restore the computer to the same State from each AM).

This looks like it should be easy to do, but I tried to do it for a month now, and I keep hitting a few insurmountable snags.

First thing I tried to do is to sync the playlist on the USB as follows:
    -Put the USB in
    -Open WMP
-Right click on the list of reading and then "add to sync list."
-Go to the sync window, and then click Start Sync (which shows the USB drive letter)

This transfers actually all MP3 playlist on the USB.

But it is not copy the actual .wpl file.

No problem... I just manually copy the file .wpl on the USB.

Songs played very well from my computer at home, but not to the computer of my wife's work. The reason is that the paths of the MP3 files in the. WPL file were absolute paths that refer to the original Pathé on the PC, not the paths of the USB.

So, I opened the. WPL file and substited all paths so that they are related. For example, what has been "C:\Users\Alain\Music\etc..." becomes"... \Music\etc...". (I had copied manually the.) WPL file to the path of the musique\selections on the USB).

    It worked, sort of...

My wife was able to play the playlist on his computer at work, but if she made any change to the reading list (ex: remove a track she did not), then WMP would eventually rewrite the paths of the. MP3 files, so that they are absolute paths to files in the library of music on the C: drive. Needless to say that these paths do not exist on the C: drive of my wife. They exist only on the USB key.

Of course, there is a bug in WMP.  To try to work around this problem, I replaced the paths of the selection to absolute paths that point to the USB key. In other words, "C:\User\alain\Music\etc" was susbtituted to 'G:\Music\etc '.

I didn't like this idea, because it works on computershere that the USB is tagged as G: and even there, the letter that is assigned to the key depending on what other USB devices USB box you connected to the computer and in what order. But I thought that I had no choice and in any case, my wife does not use too many USB devices to work, and she always listens to music on the same computer. So, in most cases, his USB stick will be the letter G:.

But it STILL DOESN 'T WORK!

The reason is that when WMP sync MP3 files on the USB, it actually changes the names of files and directories. For example, WMP ended by removing the hyphen in the following path:

    "Tiersen\Tabarly - B.O.F Yann Tiersen Yann"

and replaced it with a space, as well as on the USB, it acctually appears in the form:

    "Yann Yann Tiersen B.O.F Tiersen\Tabarly"

But in the. WPL file, the path is the hyphen in it, and therefore, even after the substitution of 'C:\user\alain\Music' to 'G:\Music', the file is not found.

To resolve this issue, I must try to play hundreds of songs on the USB, to identify those who don't play, figure, or is it that the new path, change this in manually the. WPL file that is located on the USB.

I have to do EVERY time that I synchronize a new version of the. WPL file for the USB key.

Now, which is becoming a little too crazy for me.

Am I the only one to experience this kind of problems? If someone has been able to find an easy way to synchronize playlists with a USB key so that they can be played from any PC without having to import songs in the library?

    THX.

    Hello

It is, for all purposes useful, not a supported configuration.  You must copy the files to a local drive.

If you wish to continue using technology in this way, you can use find and replace the functionality of wordpad to edit the file.

Another option you could possibly use is to create the environment variables for your script:

  • When I drag files in WMP the sequence of songs is not because it is in the list of files. the first certain tracks are at the bottom of the playlist

When I drag music files in WMP and in the field of reading list, the sequence of songs is not as it should be determined in accordance with the list of files in Explorer windows, the first or the first few tracks are at the bottom of the playlis.
For example when I drag the track 1 to 10 in WMP playlist could end up with the 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,1,2,3 sequence. It ranges from which follow playlist starts with, but the first track (s) (rare) is at the bottom every time.

    PS. Shuffle is not lit.

Is not necessarily any indication of a fault as WMP does this, even when it is running correctly [he apparently gets files loaded in the order that they appear in the allocation table disk files].

    You can

1 after dragging in the playlist, drag files to the top or to the bottom of the playlist in the desired order before you save the playlist.

2 Allocate Index properties for each track before slipping as WMP then normally behave correctly when you drag them.

3 you can also drag the in WMP individually to achieve the same end result.

  • Automatically delete the files in the playlist WMP damaged

I always delete some music files on my pc but not on my WMP playlist. Is it possible that I could find all the missing files that are on the playlist and remove?

  • Why Windows Media Player won't allow me to save the playlist that I imported from iTunes?

I have iTunes (10.5) and Windows Media Player (not sure which version). I have all my music in iTunes and WMP and I want to copy my playlists from iTunes to WMP. I exported the playlist from iTunes and saved as a M3U file. I open the M3U file in WMP and opening perfectly on the right side of WMP, but it wont let me SAVE the playlist in WMP. I tried to drag the iTunes playlist WMP playlist files and it wouldn't let me. Any suggestions?

    Hello

    (1) have there been recent changes to the computer before the show?

    (2) what exactly happens when you try to save the playlist?

    (3) you get any error message?

    (4) is the issue limited to the M3U file?

I suggest to follow the steps provided and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try to run the troubleshooting Windows Media Player settings Troubleshooter:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Media-Player-settings-Troubleshooter

Method 2: If the problem persists then clear database of Windows Media Player. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. exit Windows Media Player.

    b. for Windows 7: click Start, run, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click on OK.

    c. Select all files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows media player 10 playlist order mutation during synchronization

V10 of WMP on XP SP3

I have my songs in my playlist, but when I sync them with my MP3 player, they come out in a completely different order.  For example I have songs in order in a playlist:

    1

    2

    3

    4

    5

    But when synchronized

    3

    2

    5

    4

    1

Same problem for every playlist regardless of their size. Shuffle is not lit on WMP.

At first I thought that the problem was with my MP3 player.  It's a Sony NWZ - W252 (B).  I formatted and reset It has always worked well, the same order as WMP playlists.  Shuffle is not turned on the MP3 player.

I did a test, I made a copy the same playlist but revised the order of song to what order out on the mp3 player after synchronization.  When I synced playlist changed, it not reorganize itself, he remained the same order as the original after synchronization, as if the songs have some fixed order.  But there is no logic in the order that the songs themselves in arranged after syncing, I compared the sort order of the options and file size but no match, so it has nothing to do with the size of file or sorting.

This problem just started to happen suddenly and without reason, I have not installed/uninstalled/improved/changed anything.  One day it was working fine, the other the problem started.  The only thing I noticed at the time was that Norton has found an infected file and instructed me to delete what I did.  So unless my WMP is somehow damaged by a virus.

I considered uninstalling and reinstalling WMP but I don't want to lose anything... I'm not sure if I could import it back all my music files? and if I have to reselect the location of each file that would take forever.

It was my MP3 player, I had to keep me pressed a button on my MP3 player instead of simply pressing it... silly.

  • Question about playlists and file nav

Research in get a rocket, or a variant of the Sansa, b/c I get lazy with the long method involved in duty sync w/iPod songs and their playlists, even with the Zune.

I have read the manual for the rocket, and it seems that I can just drag and drop the files on the drive. My question is can I make records, as driving music, trance, etc. And then put different songs in every folder and then be able to go into that folder and shuffle the songs in that folder?

Second issue (assuming that my answer is not), is on the creation of playlist. Looks like I have to do inside WMP playlists and then sync it to the top? Is there another way? I read an old thread on the use of other software to generate the playlist, but my playlist would be basically all the songs in a particular folder (the one I'm talking to the 2nd paragraph).

    Thank you for any input!

Yes, with the most recent firmware, you can browse and read in folder.

  • Alphabetical sync in WMP 11

Is it possible to automatically synchronize the WMP Playlists alphabetically by the "rocket"? I have many lists of reading that I want in alphabetical order, but it still syncs in the order of default synchronization by putting them in the artist. Is there anyway to change this order of automatic synchronization? Or say the "rocket" in the alphabetical order by order?

  • Windows Media Player - how to add files to existing playlist

    Separated from this thread.

They do not speak a playlist of "unregistered". They mean that they already have a saved playlist and want to add, where the term "existing reading list." I'm having the same problem, and it's a real pain. I just want to add some songs more to a list that I've saved, but it let me just remove or create a new playlist. It wont let me not just drag the new songs on the list, which would be just way too easy, I guess. This is totally ridiculous.

    Jessi - hi...

You should definitely be able to add new songs to an existing selection. I guess that you are talking to a WMP playlist you are and in Windows 7, as with the original post?

It may be you just not enough go about it good sense... for example have you tried selecting a song you want to add, then right - click on it? You should see the option "add to" and when you hover over which another box showing your playlists - you can make the selection from there. You should also be able to drag and drop in an existing list, but for this it must be open in the "now playing" pane on the right - click here to read the list you want to add to... then you can navigate back to the track that you want to add and drag it through. You will be prompted to "save changes" when you leave.

    I hope this helps... R.

  • How can I import playlists in Windows Media Player in XP to my new Windows 7 computer?

I found and preserved from the old machine to xp, WMP Playlist files. How to import them into the new W-7 machine Pro? I have several long reading lists and rebuild seems them such a waste of time... I think that the playlists can simply be transferred.

The files are PLAYLIST. CDX; READING LIST. DBF; READING LIST. FPT; and playlist.dat. (I think). They were previously under Documents and Settings Application Data etc in XP. Is there a place in W7 I can stick and I WMP to recognize them? Is it really that simple?

You will not be able to use if the files are not in the same exact spot. If you had backed up your computer running Windows XP by using Windows Easy Transfer, your personal files (music - playlist, docs, pictures, photos, and contacts) was saved and be much easier to import and maintain. • Using the effect numbers and cannot go above 30 000

I'm doing a model where I have account numbers upward on the screen.  There seems to be lots of ways to do it, but perhaps the simplest use effect numbers.  But it seems that in this sense that I can not exceed 30000.  It is a real restriction or I do something wrong?

I also want to add commas afterwards and we found an expression in line to do this.  If anyone has any ideas on this subject, I would be grateful of those too.

I use this animation preset to create a money counter that will do anything. Simply apply to an empty text layer, set your font and adjust the settings in the effect controls panel. Adjust the multipliers, tun on and off the commas to set duration of the County... Everything you need is right here: Dropbox - moneyCounter.ffx (Note If dropbox adds a filename to remove .txt extension)

I also have a universal time counter and additional custom animation that makes me more productive in almost every motion graphics job I do about 200 presets. I suggest that you start building a library.

And, Yes, the numbers of plug-ins are limited to 30,000... Nothing you can do about it except using multiple layers, what I did too. Start with 3 digits, then a comma in a text layer, then three and so on and so forth to count to 9 trillion times in 5 seconds. My preset is much easier and works perfectly if you choose a monospaced font

  • CanvasClear causes the application crash

I use a simple rectangular control canvas with movement indicator (Vshape) that displays the currently measured value.

The value is updated 10 to 14 times per second, and deliberately, I made these values fluctuate.

The canvas is filled with gradient colors (5 ranges) and the indicator moves upwards or downwards. In order to redraw the indicator,

I use CanvasClear with the VAL_ENTIRE_OBJECT attribute and then redraws its content.  A few days ago, I noticed,

that the software crashed, when the Panel containing the canvas control, was behind another window (belonging to an another SW

After that the software worked anywhere from 0.5 to 5 hours and the questionable control was behind another window.

I also have seen, before the accident, if I move the window covering away from the canvas control, rectangle covered

becomes black (break in non-se mode, it remains white) and it takes several seconds to redraw the partial region.

Sometimes I noticed irregular elements (a diagonal line, not planned, from the left corner down to the right).

Labwindows2010 IDE always shows crash-point as a call to CanvasClear().

Sorry for the delay in response. I followed a red herring for a few hours when troubleshooting this. It turns out that this could have been resolved much more quickly using the resource followed in CVI. If you have the full development system, you can change the compiler Options > debug to cabins lying level and then open the window > Resource Tracking. This will show you all the memory and handles your code currently open. It will appear when the elements are created, changed, or destroyed. Looking at it when your application is running (you need to suspend execution at a breakpoint to see the tracking of resources), you will see that the program continues to create plots that belong to the curve of the COLORSCALE. It is your intensity graph. If you look at using the function for PlotIntensity, he recalled in a note that a new trace is created every time that you call this function, and you want to get rid of these plots with DeleteGraphPlot.

You can add something like this in InitScaleData.

    if(plotHandle != 0)
    {
            DeleteGraphPlot (IndicatorPanel(0), IND_COMP_COLORSCALE, plotHandle, VAL_DELAYED_DRAW);
    }
    plotHandle = PlotIntensity (IndicatorPanel(0), IND_COMP_COLORSCALE, scaleArray, 2, OGL_SCHEME, VAL_DOUBLE, gColorMap,gColorMap[OGL_SCHEME-1].color, OGL_SCHEME, 1, 1);

I don't think you run necessarily in a memory problem here throwing the parcels. Intensity plots use rather a small number of GDI handles. In Windows Vista and 7, the number of GDI handles is limited to 10,000 by a Windows registry key. I look at the number of open GDI handles in the process Explorer reveals that 10000 handles were open when the application crashed on my system after about 45 minutes of execution.

Let me know if it works if you have a chance to try this solution.
