WMP won't play files

original title: play DVD on WMP

I just bought a dvd that plays very well on a standard dvd player, but when I try to play them using wmp on windows 7 dvd wil start and play on the menu screen but won't let me open (click) on the individual lessons on the dvd. I can open individual files by right click & Open the drive. Please help as confused!

What is more confusing, is that I can play other discs with the VOB's, on the VLC Player. The discs in question won't let me past the screen "menu" when played on my laptop (windows xp) or on my laptop (windows7), but they agree on a standard dvd player.

    Hello

ZIP files are compressed, so you need to unzip and then play the content if the
content is of type WMP files.

On my laptop XP SP3 WMP11 won't play .wav files, including the wave of Microsoft sample published in KB 316992, "Information on the types of media files that support Windows Media Player."  He used to do.  She still plays WMA and MP3 files among other types.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall WMP 11 using the software of control panel of configuration or remove without change in ny in use.  Any thoughts on aditional troubleshooting and resolution?

    Hi shbermingham,

-What happens when you try to play using Media Player 11 .wav files?

-You get an error message or error code? If Yes, indicate the same.

Try this step and check if that helps:

    a. open Windows Media Player 11.

    b. go to tools. Click on Options.

    c. on the File Types tab, remember that there is a check mark in the box Windows (wav) audio file. Click on apply. Click OK.

  • My music files have changed in WMA format in Windows Media Player, and now my MP3 player won't play them.

My music files have changed in wma format in windows media player, and now my mp3 player won't play them.  can anyone help please.

    original title: Media Player

Download and install WMA to MP3 Converter, then install it, you can get it here... http://www.WMA-MP3.org/

Then select all the WMA files you want to convert, and then convert them to the MP3 Format.
The reason why they are WMA is because when you ripped the files on the disc to your pc, by default, Windows Media Player is configured to save in the Windows Media Audio (WMA) Format.
This default can be changed by opening Media Player and click on Tools > Options
Then select the Rip music tab
Format: select MP3 from the drop-down list.
    Click apply and OK.
Now the next time you rip a CD on your drive hard it will be automatically saved as an MP3 file.

Audacity will work however (and you can also get rid of rumble Platinum and clicks at the same time) as it is a freeware Audio Editor. If your turntable is plugged into the microphone or line input, check if you have chosen that option entries in Audacity.

  • Why Vista WMP can't play .asf files and why MS has not created a fix for this?

Why Vista WMP can't play .asf files and why MS has not created a fix for this?

    Hi pdaamckechnie,

The ASF Format (Advanced Systems) is the preferred Windows Media file format. With Windows Media Player, if the appropriate codecs are installed on your computer, you can play audio content, video content, or both, that is compressed with a wide variety of codecs and that is stored in an .asf file.

  • Syncd music on my USB won't play in WMP 12 directly

I created a playlist in WMP on Windows XP, then syncd this playlist on my USB key.  Everything worked perfectly and synchronization was successful.  All files have been exported as .wma on the USB which is fine.

The problem is when I try to play music directly from thumb in WMP12 on Windows 7.  In the left pane that I can browse my USB, expand the node for the 'music' and then see all my music as expected.  Everything is superb.  The problem is when I double click on a song to play, or click and then press Play.  Nothing happens.  No errors, no message, no load, nothing.  I can't change the notation of music either.  It of as if the songs are there but not accessible by WMP12.

Now Interestingly if I manually navigate to the song in Windows Explorer and open it, of course he loads into WMP and started playing.  I don't want to make this good sense because the game is not continuous for an entire album. I want to play these songs by WMP.

Also, I don't want to copy the files locally; It's a working machine, and I prefer to keep the music files on the USB key.

So, what's the problem here?  How can I play these songs directly from my USB without copy them locally?

    Thank you!

Yes thank you for the reply, but that doesn't work anymore.  I tried to add the location of a 'library', but was not allowed to, as a message stated "this file cannot be included because it is on a removable device.

Anyway, I guess that the solution I posted above might be the best.  I'll transfer here for future readers:

"I found a way to play the songs in WMP12, but this isn't the ideal solution.  When initially insert my USB in the machine Windows 7 prompt me if I want to play songs with WMP, browse files on USB, etc..  If I choose to play the songs in WMP12, it opened WMP and creates a new massive playlist with my 2500 songs +.  In this list, I can play all my songs.  However, the playlist is slightly combersome to navigate even with sorting options.  However it may be the only option I have if I can't play them directly from my USB drive in WMP. »

If someone figures how to play directly from the USB in WMP without going through the routine above, feel free to post the information at any time.  Thanks again for your help.

  • I burned music from my computer to a CD - RW. Now I can play the CD in my computer, but it won't play on my CD player.

I burned music from my computer to a CD - RW.  Now I can play the CD in my computer, but it won't play on my CD player.  Any suggestions?  Is there a problem with the help of a CD - RW on a CD player?  I would like to know what format would be best universally to play in a CD player.

    Any help please!

original title: Burning CD music computer

Some CD players cannot read the CR - RW, especially older. Check the documentation of players for the type of files, it can read.

What you burn as - CD music or data (mp3 files). Yet once, some players older cannot read data discs (mp3).

The best universal format is to burn a music CD.

CD - RW has only need to put in shape if they have already been used and have given written on them.

Everything you do and you choose, always make sure that the disc is finalized IE. do not burn as a multisession. Once more, the older players cannot read a multisession disc.

BTW, here is a better alternative to WMP:

  • Windows Media Player will not play files .avi or .mpg - Error Message: C00D1199

Windows Media Player won't play .avi or .mpg files; files which I know to be readable by Windows Media Player. In addition, this program has played these accurate files in the month of August. The files are readable on other programs. I searched other forums, but it is impossible to find an answer to this problem, except the recommendation of a codec - although I don't know how I have "lost" the codec in the past two months. Today, spontaneously and erratically, Windows Media Player recognizes the .mpg files, but not the .avi. Microsoft Security Essentials have installed and up to date, if it is not a virus. Have problems in other programs with the recognition of previously readable files. Not sure if it's related, so I'll post in separate... forums but I'll give you a link if you want to. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • DVD player won't play a movie made with movie maker

I downloaded the movie maker and made the movie to mpeg and jpg saved on my computer to my Sony cybershot camera. He burned first to a DVD-R and nothing. So I saved a copy on my computer then burn a copy on a CD - R. Now, when I put the CD or the DVD-R in my Portable DVD player it must play fair? No, it's the 'bad disk '. When I put in another DVD player attached to my TV they return "not found no file supported" for CD - R and the 'bad disc' on the DVD-R. So neither my old portable DVD player or most recent DVD drive attached to the TV will play one of them.  I know the movies is on their as when I stick to the computer, Windows Media Player plays automatically. Even with the DVD-R. So, this is the DVD drive laptop who can not read or what I am doing wrong?

What you were doing only works if you play the CD or DVD on the SAME computer that the movie has been created.

It will NOT pay in another computer, it won't play in any DVD player.

What you need is to burn pictures on a DVD Maker, not a "movie maker".

    Issues related to the:

    1. what type of operating system are you using?

    2. in addition to the #1 question... Why did you have to 'download' a movie maker?

    3. If you want to burn a DVD movie (not), you'll need a DVD Maker, not a Movie Maker.

What you had described, the DVD movie you will play only on the same computer that created the film.

He will not play in another computer.
He won't play in any DVD player.

    For your information...

Vista has Windows Movie Maker included.  Creating Windows DVD is only available for Vista Ultimate and Vista Home Premium.

Windows 7 should install Windows Live Essentials, which provides programs of your choice, i.e. Windows live Movie Maker and Windows Live DVD Maker, among others.

  • Won't play Rhapsody channels

Sansa E280R finally broken, then proceed to Fuze +.

upgrade to latest firmware first thing.

Connected rocket to the latest version of Rhapsody.  Authorized unit, transferred other titles and some channels.

When I boot Fuze +, I have the ' expired subscription titles. connect to PC to renew "message.  However, the titles that I downloaded (not bought titles) all play very well.

Rhapsody channels won't play;  get the titles of the subscription expired "message.

When I connect back to Rhapsody and then right-click Sansa Fuze +, withdraw the authorization is not an option, but if I go on my account, the "rocket" is listed as an authorized device.

I cancelled and renewed. no luck...

PC is Windows 7 64 bit. Rhapsody version is 4.0 Build 6.7

Thanks for the detailed reply neutron_bob

Short answer is that I fixed it now... as described below.

However, it is the strangest question I've ever met with Rhapsody and DRM, and I've been a Rhapsody Subscriber with MP3 players almost since the first Rhapsody support MP3 players!

Firmware Fuze + Rhapsody SW customer are the last two versions.  I put Sansa in MTP mode instead of detection.  There is a red dot on the top line of the rocket +, and I got the expired message whenever I started the "rocket".  HOWEVER, all the tracks I had transferred to Rhapsody the "rocket" (all securities subscription, MP3 files not purchased or local) fine all played without error.  All songs played fine.

However, NO Rhapsody channel would play at all.  I check the *.pla files exist through internal memory > Service > Rhapsody.

In addition, in the Rhapsody GUI client, when I right-click on Sansa fuze +, the link to withdraw authorization has been disabled, even if the "rocket" did appear in the list of devices allowed my accounts.

This morning, I decided to start over completely with DRM on my computer and with the rocket.  I followed the steps here to reset my computer DRM: http://www.fixya.com/support/t3872615-sansa_fuze_telling_me_need_synchronize

    Now everything works fine.
