    Hello

The support is broken.  However, if you have the model of the tower and the NVIDIA GTX 960 is the only graphics card then it should.

  • HP ENVY x 360-15-u111dx: motherboard catch fire?

To give an excuse little to my situation: I bought this laptop the summer before my year freshmen August 2015. It's now a year and a month (September 24, 2016).  The device comes with windows 8.1 installed and some HP software (BLOATWARE) pre installed. I've updated to windows 10 day, they gave me the opportuninty.

Now to begin the most frustrating week of my life. Mid-September, my HP support assistant software recommended some updates for my drivers. Being always hesitant of driver updates, I rarely update, but recently, I had some problems connecting to my bluetooth Jam2 speakers. So, I downloaded and installed the drivers bluetooth through the application of HP support assistant. Remember that HP support assistant is a service provided by the manufacturer of my laptop and he knows my exact material and is able to provide the correct updates, or so I assumed. After the installation, the wizard prompted me to restart my laptop, I did. That's where everything went wrong.

My laptop off, then went into its boot sequence. The laptop could not start and went to recovery. Feeling that the driver had missed something, I decided that it was worth my time to restore to a previous restore point I had created a few days before. The restoration came with an error. Appalled and rather bored, I decided to cut my losses and do a refresh. No chance here no more. Time for a clean install, I thought; Well it does not either. Time and time again, I fell on something like "System Restore encountered an error." or something similar. At this point, I am Livid and confused. I know that my warranty was sold out in just a few weeks before that and I'm either going to have to buy a new laptop or do some serious work to get this working again; and with 3 future reviews in my college classes, I have to hurry to study.

I started by plug my usb in recovery of Windows 10 in my laptop and boot. Installing windows 10 come just as expected, but when I tried to click on install, an error came by saying something along the lines, "Windows is already installing, if it please remove the installation media and restart the computer." So I did that and hit the windows problem saying no drives were found and the facility has met a problem. I decided that my hard drive has failed, so I went to learn to my HD.

I took the pannel of keyboard to access my hard drive. I unlocked the tablecloth of the motherboard and unscrewed the reader of the frame. After removal of the drive, I noticed the smell of burning rubber or plastic. The water had been fried. To see if the contents of my hard drive was ok, I put in an external hardrive case and plugged into another laptop. The car was damaged and all my data was lost. Fortunately (from my situation), the car was still in working condition, all I had to do was to format.

My big question is what could possibly cause my tablecloth to have so much current flowing through it than some of the wires just sautéed? I didn't have any problem with my fan works do not, in fact, my fan has always kept my laptop well below dangerous levels. In hindsight, it was probably the only exceptional thing on my device. What are the chances that a bluetooth driver and a ribbon cable combustion happened inside even a few minutes? Do not forget that it comes from inside all the few weeks of my warranty expired. Something seemed fishy to me.

I was able to find the part on the store of replacement parts HP for more than $ 50 is not inclunding expedition to the France. A ridiculous price for a sata connector cable. I found on ebay at much more affordable prices and was able to get it before the end of the week. This is where the fun begins; not having is not a windows pc to format my NTFS drive, I had to walk a mile to a public computer to format my drive. After the walk back, I inserted the disk into the laptop and started on recovery usb. I ran through the process and ended up with a facility own about 3 hours later. Everything was back to normal. Now, I type these words on my formidable machine.

So, to sum up with a few questions:

Is this what can I do to get my money on the part that I bought?

Is that what HP can do to explain my horrible dysfunction and stress he put me under? I mean my laptop could literally burned down my apartment.

What to do if this happens again?

In Conclusion, I regret a few things. First of all, I'm sorry to have bought this HP laptop. I am dismayed that my purchase of THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS has led to so much trouble. Secondly, I regret ever put my trust in a HP software, especially HP support assistant brand. And finally, I never regret any of my resources (time, money, hardwork, ect.) put in any product manufactured by HP in anyway whatsoever.

Thanks for anyone who can give me any help on my situation, I do not want this laptop today, but I'm unfortunately stuck with it. Thus, all information is useful. Thanks for reading.

Thank you. I will accept as solution

  • Clocked at 20 degrees warmer since putting on 3.87 Rev A Bios Update on Z420 Workstation

    I have a question:

Not too long ago I put the Bios Update on A Rev 3.87 was considered to be as critical an update on my workstation Z420 (running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit), and lately I've found that the CPU idling at about 20 degrees more hot than before.  I used to hear creaking noises coming from the computer I learned normally come circuits on the motherboard power delivery, but as long as I heard those CPU would be on average around 50 degrees C at idle.  I hear these noises and now the CPU is on average around 70-75 degrees C at idle.  Not sure what the connection is.  HP performance Advisor tells me I'm in the normal range, but I want to just make sure that with programs like Autodesk Maya there, she become too hot and stop the machine.   I don't know what the temp high-end is considered maximum security.  This change could have due to the update of the Bios?

Thank you for your response and suggestions.  I check in my BIOS power management settings has been developed the extended mode, but the temperature has always hovered around 70-78 degrees at idle.  I checked Intel spec for this (E5 - 1650 6-core xeon) processor, clocked at 3.2 Ghz by heart, and although he said nothing on the TMax, he mentioned that the TCase (which he defined as the maximum temperature allowed integrated processor heat sink (IHS)) was 64 degrees Celsius.  Now my temperature of the case, according to my HP Performance Advisor version 1.7.7517.0 is only about 24 degrees C, but I put my fan a little higher CPU, about 2009 rpm speed.  This makes a little more noise, but my CPU temp has dropped to about 49 °.  "" Before the change of the fan speed has been slightly more than 1300 RPM while the Advisor I have always said that it is in the range "normal".  Is it good to get the speed of the CPU fan like that or do I have to go a little lower?

  • Change language of the BIOS of HP Z420 PC workstation

    Hello members,

I use a HP Z420 workstation PC. I bought this by a French seller, the BIOS menu is in French. It is anyway to change the bios to English language?

    03.85 BIOS version
    American Megatrends V.2.15.1229

P.S. This thread has been moved from workstations - w series, series z, xw and inherited management of Client PC HP x series. -Hp moderator of the Forum

Go to HP.com, click on Support, download the drivers.  Put in Z420 in the product name, then select the workstation Z420.   This will bring up the page drivers.  Select the version of your operating system.  (This is the usual place to find drivers)

Under "Software - management system" down load the utility BIOS Configuration (BCU) (International).  This tool will create a text dump of your BIOS settings file.  We can change this file, and then use the changed file to update the BIOS settings.

In this file, there is a section for the "install language", with several languages listed below.  The language with the * in front of it is the one that is turned on.  In your case, remove it * before French and add it * before English.  Then follow the instructions on how to use this file to update your BIOS settings.

"Old way" is the quote that comes to mind, and there is a link to a post on the Z620 mirroring of your question:

    here

With very old BIOS versions like what you have, you will need to step up the BIOS versions in order.  You don't need to intensify in each version, just a couple of big no.

Keep us updated... I think you will like the new BIOS versions, and I post it is better to update the BIOS to go into BIOS, rather than inside Windows.

  • Part number for the serial port in option HP Z420

I am looking for the serial port in option for the HP Workstation Z420, but in a datasheet, it is only mentioned as an optional serial port kit.

What is the number on the right side of the product? The same for the workstation Z400 was PA716A, but it was not compatible with the new workstation model...

I used the same part number, I used to model Z400 and it seems to work well.
    HP code is PA716A.

  • Mac Book Pro is not too hot.  It is time to replace the battery?  Can I replace the battery?

MacBookPro is not too hot.  It's time to change the battery?  Can I do it myself?

The Mac runs his fans in a feedback loop, based of the internal temperature measured.

If the temperature goes up and the fans are not speed up to compensate, you probably have a hardware problem.

If the Mac becomes too hot, it will make an uncontrolled emergency power off.

EDIT: Replacing the battery is a completely separable question not related to temperature. Is the Samsung phone batteries that catch fire, not Mac.

  • All fans are not working on my Portege M205-S810

    Hey.
I have trouble with my laptop. Its seems that for some reason any cooling fans do not work in my laptop more. The laptop itself works great. There are bugs or system errors. Disorders are coming when I work on my laptop for a long time and seems its due to overheating. I don't know why, but today I opened the laptop to see the two (there are two fans inside the laptop) fans and turn the power button. The system has been started, but both fans do not work. What do you think sound maybe?
As for me its more like they was disabled by a configuration then program as they both have is broken. Or it may be the motherboard failure. In any case I really need your help before my laptop did not catch fire.

    Thank you.

    Hello

It's really not easy for sure what the problem is here. In this case you should talk with the service authorized in your country. Here on the forum, you can read a lot of comments, but you can never be sure that forum diagnosis is relevant for you 100%.

You must know that material can be damaged without proper cooling and for me this is a pretty serious situation. Please visit http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true and there you can find the addresses and telephone numbers of the services authorized in your country.

  • Satellite A200: Son - junction screen base

I got my Satellite A200 - 18 M since the end of January and noticed tonight that I see the son at the level of the joint where the screen joined the corps!

I don't know if it's something I need to talk to Toshiba, obviously the process of return for any service is one I prefer to avoid and so I was wondering if anyone else out there with an A200 model has the same, or if its just something that will make the laptops? I had an A200-1AI before and never noticed with this machine, but I was wondering if it was just something that happens! I certainly don't want to waste time with something that is nothing of Toshiba and hold counsel to get a call from someone who has a problem if I don't!

Those who use an A200 (I don't know if the P200, A100 have the same design), can they look at where the screen is attached to the base there is a small gap hand and of the joint! For me to one side in the ditch where wires wire through a box of black rubber type that surround them, but on one side I see a red wire and a white wire and black, they are not rounded on the gap but when I closed and reopened the cover they twist and are certainly on the actual joint when I close and open the lid!

I'm afraid they might pinch or swelling and problems that might cause me or he could do! I always remember my father telling me everytime I see threads... I'm not going to be more dramatic, but I don't want to really explode or catch fire!

Maybe I'm paranoid enough and picky but if it is something that would cause me a problem I rather deal with him now rather than later!

I was just wondering if there may be someone who knows the inner workings of the A200 ' sand if the envelopes around the wires are purely aesthetic or something that are more work than that, or maybe someone else has the same thing and it's something that's normal!

Thanks guys and girls. Any help is appreciated!

    Hello

'problem' you isn´t a problem because it's normal. If you notice anything unusual he doesn´t say that something is faulty, so in your case, just use the machine as you do each day and Don t worry that son. They are isolated and could not bulge or whatever...

My girlfriend has the same machine, and if I really take a deep look at the machine I can see also a few threads. But only after taking a glance really very good mentioned you´ve away.

So in my opinion it s nothing, so please Don t worry as long as everything with machine is OK.

    Welcome them

  • COLLEGE_I need for a third party app alarm w / vibration. DIF, tones?

It's my first six months living in a dorm with two other people, & I have not struck the right balance to wake me up and leave my sleeping roommates. I'm a heavy sleeper, and their very light sleeper.

We know third alarm that would have a tone of control & alarm vibration random wake an application?

Or anything else that would be useful.

    Thank you!

I'm not sure an alarm, but have you thought about an activity monitor that starts to vibrate on the wrist at a specific time?

I guess that a lot of alarms vibrate but to feel like them while he is asleep, they would need to be in bed with you, which shows a different problem with devices catching fire.

  • HP touchsmart 300 pc tv tuner entry burned

I came home, I forgot that I had left my pc on all day, I smelled something that was burned. I noticed that the cable to the tv input wire was burned, about 4 inches from the end. Got cable, research in the area of entry on the pc, I see it is burned on the inside. I have re - turn on the pc and I use it. Is this a problem with the pc or with my cable company setup? The computer makes a humming noise, like that coming out of a parking lot light at night, is this normal? The sound has kicked in and out, but now it's constant, I'd be worried that the computer will catch fire?

You have an electric or cable problem, it is possible that there is no a/c voltage leak on the cable line which is usually not the case.

More often than otherwise, it is a problem with no ground and/or hot/neutral reversed somewhere in the House with a camera that is also attached to a TV or a tuner, I suggest strongly that get you an electrician to ASAP to check.

The tuner in the PC is probably toast, the rest of the PC may or may not be damaged, but I would get the electric checked ASAP.

  • 2 important questions!

Well, I upgraded my acer aspire 5750g before 3 days for the operating system windows 8... in any case, I am facing a problem with advanced sound dolby sound! whenever I start a game it turns off itself and I have to keep turning on! the bios update will fix it?
    2nd question
I have downloaded the driver nvidia (306.30) of the acer website it tells me that there is a new update availale so should I use the nvidia drivers, it is better to stick with the acer drivers and there is no difference at all?

waiting for your answer... Thank you. Sorry for my bad English!

Simply change the config dolby in the control panel. I can't tell you how because it is different from a system, I don't know why, you'd think it wouldn't... Another thing is that the game you are playing can be configured to use another sound device (standard pc noise) rather than the dolby system. I would look into the in-game settings as well. And no, this won't help a bios update. It's completely software related. A bios update would be useful that say the speakers themselves ceased to operate during the game. Or at least it would be a better example to follow to make a bios update.

In any case, Acer use a copy customized Windows and they customize a number of their driver as well. Realistic if your system works well enough you can expect just to patch their own driver to match the most recent Acer. You aren't going to get hacked because your graphics driver is not updated. "' If your system works with the old is not really a terrible need update unless the nvidia site says on it" this update prevents units to randomly catch fire. "

It's completely up to you, the new driver works, why not. If you are satisfied with the former, who cares? Bad comes to worse you try the new and it does not work for some reason, so switch back you to the old.
