  I'm not being sarcastic or rude but you eventaully will need to read the help files or you'll be back on the forum for everything and it's not a good way to learn Illustrator.

  The action panel will allow you to perform certain tasks and then save them as an action and even assign a keyboard shortcut to this action.   Sorry for the slow response.  Recently, I've been up to my eyeballs in work! (not a bad thing).  Ronin thanks for your help.  I had a quick glance at this link, and there are some useful things there.

  It turns out that I solved the problem otherwise.  All I had to do was clear my settings synchronized and then re-sync! can you believe that!  Now when I select shortcuts keyboard in the window menu opens and I can customize it further.  Before, nothing happened when I chose keyboard shortcuts in menu drop down!

  Maybe it's a weird solo bug that only happened to me, I hope that no one else suffers this infuriating thing!

  Oh you mean.

  Either click on and hold on the bottom of the home screen (and note that you can slide left or right for both variants)

  OR

  Click on the button menu, then "add".

  Be that as it may, go you to a place to select "Shortcuts" and other things too.   You want shortcuts.   Then Direct call shortcut or shortcut contacts or directions shortened as your heart desires.  Name it what you like.

  You can also create a folder to put all that things in and free up space in the home screen.  I'm doing this because I love the extra step for a speed dial, less likely to crash, but it's really a personal preference call.

  Please try the following if SFC/scannow does not help.

  Right-click on your desktop, and then click New and select shortcut.
  Next, go to the following site for WordPad.
  Type in a location of the item.
  Type: %ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe
  Click next and give a name for the shortcut, such as WordPad.

  Now you have a shortcut on your desktop for the WordPad.
  Alternatively, you can drag it to the Start button so that it can be listed.

  I had GDialer, which enabled pictures individual contact icons on the home screen for quick keys... nice app. Under 2.2, even after reinstalling, it doesn't. Is anyone aware of a similar application, allowing photos contact individual to reside on homescreen and aloow to activation of a key...?   There's nothing mystical about Windows 8.

  The tiles on the start screen are shortcuts to applications as you are familiar with the old Start Menu in previous versions that contains shortcuts to programs. The only difference is that in Windows 8, some of the tiles can be a shortcut to an application of modern user interface.

  You can click with the right button on the MS Works tile and select the location of the file opened under the toolbar. File Explorer opens with the selected shortcut. Try to double click this shortcut to see if it starts the program.

  If this does not start the application, right-click on the shortcut and select Properties/Shortcut tab. In the target box, you will see the location of the executable file (.exe) apps. Go to that location and double-click the executable file to see if that starts the program.

  If this does not start the program, you may need to reinstall the program.

  You can also check the compatibility of the MS Works version you use.
