X100e upgrade to SSD - Apricorn EZ Gig II Fail

X100e, W7 Pro 32. I'm upgrading to a concert of 80 X 25-M Intel SSD. I tried to Apricorn EZ Gig II cloning software and USB cable. (Original in the computer drive and the new drive connected to the USB.) When I installed the SSD, it wouldn't start. I don't know if it's due to problems of partition. (I does not change any of the original scores.)

What is the easiest or best upgrade to SSD? I couldn't find step by step instructions. TIA.

Hello

Good point, Yangorang.  While the SSD is seen by the operating system as having "leads" and "sectors", information on SSDS are available as if it applied to DRAM in 4KiB pages (4 096 bytes).  If the SSD is partitioned so that departure of the disk volumes do not correct align, the SSD controller ends up having to perform several queries IO to access value of a sector of data because the information is stored on two pages of DRAM on the SSD.  At least, I think that this is how it works.

Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7 handle automatically alignment of the handle for SSD (like new ' format Advanced' hard drives that use 4KiB sectors instead of 512 bytes) doing a clean install of the operating system should do cela a non-issue.

However, you can perform a manual realignment operation to move the limits of the information stored on an SSD so that sectors and the pages correctly line up between them.

There is an excellent analysis of the question, as well as instructions on how to solve it here on the support forum for the supplier, OCZ, RAM and an SSD.

Kind regards

You can upgrade to an SSD.

The simplest method is to use an SSD as the Corsair Force 3 and don't forget that you buy the kit of migration.

The migration kit comes with cloning software and a usb to SATA power cable that connects again SSD.

It is recommended that you purchase and SSD that is approximately 256 GB in quality if you can find one that is affordable.

    Hello

This notebook is without a doubt SATA III. The size is more or less in your pocket. I prefer Corsair or readers Intel but Samsung and Kingston were also a few good products. I generally recommend buying any SSD with SandForce SATA controllers that readers have faster speed writing and in my opinion even better reliability.

  • XPS 8500 upgrade to SSD

    looking to upgrade to SSD

found v4 Crucial ssd of 32 GB with support for install

you wonder if this will be fine as primary drive and keep the 1 TB drive already installed as storage device

    price looks ok

any advice or assistance would be appreciated

Do not forget that this system can work at 6 GB/s and the v4 can only run at 3 GB/s so an m4 would be better.

This system has an mSATA port which is probably unoccupied. Also, I think that 32 GB is too little too small to install a Windows 7 operating system, I managed to install the operating system and office on a 64 GB we (my documents and files are elsewhere) and it is a boost for space; If you can afford it, I'd recommend the m4 SSD 128 GB mSATA: http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=050B0AA0A5CA7304

Such a small disc can function as a Disk Cache, but it is more worth than his worth to implement.

I try to upgrade to Windows 10 and downloading still failing. I get the following error message: 802400B, which means that it can not read one of the files required to download (update manifest). The recommended windows fix did not work. What should I do? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

You can try the upgrade manually:

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

I tried to clone the disk SSD, but it gives just a blank screen or select jumps back to the boot of the screen when start to boot.

I also tried to boot from a USB stick with Windows 8 on it, then install it on the SSD, but the same thing happens when you try to boot from USB (white screen or jumps back to the boot selection screen.

I tried to turn off Secure Boot, boot legacy mode, boot order, Windows load mode turn off/on... nothing works.

Please, any help would be great.

Hello, I did the SSD upgrade last night and everything works so much better! I'm still not sure about the ram if its extensible or not.

Here are the steps I took to swap the drive hybrid SSD HARD drive:

    (1) bought SanDisk Ultra II 480 GB Solid State Drive - $139.00

    (2) purchased Insignia 3.0 Portable Hard Disk Drive Enclosure - $29.00

The case comes with the cable, you must clone the disks and then you can use your old HDD as a disk after having done an image backup and system if you want to, otherwise you have to buy the enclosure but will cable. I found the cost of the cable start around $10 and go on a $29, so I just went with the box. You can find quite different price elsewhere, that's just what I found locally.

    (3) make a backup of your entire system to an external drive, a system image backup and image of the system CD drive just in case.

    (4) download cloning software. I went with the free Sandisk recommended software - EZ GIG IV

    (5) Connect and clone old HDD to your Instructions SDD news will be with your new drive or the software.

    (6) once the clone is complete, unplug your internal battery in the BIOS. Instructions for this can be found in thinkpad manual.

    7) turn the power off and remove the laptop cover. Instructions for this are also in the thinkpad manual.

    (8) remove the old HARD drive. Thinkpad manual instructions

    (9) install the new SSD. Follow the instructions in the manual of Thinkpad and Instructions supplied with SSD

    (10) closing the case back up, put the screws back in and power on.

He had a black screen for a while when I turned it on and while I studied what had not worked, that I thought it was normal and literally as I was reading all came and was immediately noticeable how fast he was. I ran the Bios Update tool on the lenovo support area but I didn't have to change anything in the bios and everything works great. I did not remove the 16 GB card as Ive read that some people have. I'm still not sure if this makes a difference or not. The event viewer shows no defects, and it shows as active / online and running.

I'm always interested to find if I can pass the ram from 8 to 16 GB. If anyone knows...

Also, I've upgraded to Windows 10 the day I bought the machine, so I don't know if that has nothing to do with the swap go smoother.

  • Upgrade to SSD for MacBook Pro 13 "(2011)

I want to upgrade to a hard drive SSD for my notebook Early 2011 MacBook Pro.

What are the specifications of the SSD looking?

Is that the kind of 2.5 "(7mm)?"  I was looking at the card SanDisk Ultra II or similar model.

What is the process or the workflow to change SSD?  (he just plug or do I need a prop?)

I backed up my current HARD drive for Time Machine on a G-Drive external hard drive.  Can I restore my backup for the SSD of Time Machine, or are there additional steps?

    Thank you in advance.

Any SSD with a box 2.5 "will be compatible with your MBP.  I recommend OWC SSD or critical based on my experience and other participants of CSA veterans.

Installing the SSD is the same as for a traditional HARD drive.  Watch this video:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/installvideos/macbookpro_13_unibody_early11_hd/

You must format the SSD in Mac OS extended (journaled) disk utility.  You can use Time Machine to restore your data on the SSD.

    You can follow these guidelines:

  • 6 - 1014NR envy: HP Envy 6 - 1014 upgrade to SSD prompting the Installation Windows disc

This laptop was purchased with a Windows 7 OS pre-installed.  A year ago, I took advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10.  No problem and so far so good.

Today, I decided to upgrade my factory HDD to SSD performance.   I clone the drive HARD integer using Macrium Reflect and he went ase expected.

After passing on hard drives and cranking up the SSD, I am taken to the Windows Boot Manager screen.  It recognizes that I have a hardware change (HDD-> SDS) and he suggested that I demarrer start with Instalation of Windows disk, select language and next, before choosing the repair option.  How can I solve this problem I never got a Windows Setup disc (without CD player on this model)?

In the Windows Boot Manager, there is a following screen to select an operating system.  Although I can see the Windows 10 option, after you have selected the option I need just to return to the Windows Boot Manager screen.

You can provide any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

    You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately, I do not know what W10 gives you the repair options.

If there is a command line option, you can try running the repair options listed in the link below.

They are for W7, but maybe W10 uses the same commands.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/927392

I would not invest too much time in the repair installation, because you will probably be able to clean install W10 and install all your programs and files in less time it will take to understand the problem (if you can).

  • Satellite U300 - help hardware upgrade to SSD and RAM

    Hello world
I want to completely upgrade my toshiba satellite U300-140, mount VISTA and default the technical features, posted above.

I need your help to choose the best (and economic) device SSD and RAM slot. It is very important for me to know what is probably compatible with my device. Please, could you help me in your experience?

And... an SSD is worthy, at the speed of my laptop? I was thinking about kingston 120 Gb or 240 GB V300

    http://www.Toshiba.it/discontinued-p...Lite-U300-14O/

According to specification for laptop, you can be upgraded up to 4 GB RAM in order to use 2 x 2 GB of RAM. The compatible RAM modules have PA3513U-1M2G part number.

I think with SSD, you shouldn't have any problems. I updated my old P500 with 250 GB Samsung 840 SSD and it works perfectly.

  • Upgrade HDD/SSD 500 GB on Tecra R950-19th

    Hi all.

I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade (buy and then replace) my HARD - SSD (256 GB) drive to a 500 GB/1 TB on my Tecra R950-19th.

If so, you have online stores to suggest buying?

    Thank you.

I think that it should be possible to use this HARD drive since the SATA controller is able to manage these sizes because of 48-bit LAB (Logical Block Addressing)
Usually there is no big difference between HARD drive manufacturers, but I recommend you to check some reviews and read some article on HARD drive, you are interesting in.

What you need is a SATA 2.5 HARD drive (speed is not question for the compatibility of devices)

Your best bet is greater capacity of 2.5-inch SSD. 1TBs aren't terribly expensive now.

  • Portege R700 - 15U HDD upgrade to SSD using recovery media

    Hello

The installed HARD disk was 320, he developed surface errors.

I decided that I would upgrade to an SSD. I got a 64 GB m4.

I swapped the drives and booted from the recovery DVD. He gave an installation option. Selected, then it opens a command prompt where it starts to partition the drive, everything ok, until it copies the files. It errors with "CRC error or HARD drive.

It is, with the resumption of Toshiba, there is more than 64 GB? How I choose partition sizes?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

And now your problem is solved or how to understand your second assignment?

Is that recovery disk can also restore the factory settings on another SSD or HARD disk. There is no problem and 64 GB should be enough.

These CRC errors could be linked to the SSD itself have you looked for an update of the firmware on the page of manufacturing SSD?
    Have you updated the BIOS?

I have a Macbook late 2009 13 "and you want to upgrade the hard drive for an SSD. I formatted the hard drive or "initialized but not him have not yet exchanged outside with the HARD drive." I'm comfortable doing the physical exchange of hard disks, old and new. I need help is to get an operating system installed on the SSD. There are tons of videos and tutorials that tell me how to copy the data on my current hard drive. I want to actually just to make a fresh start without any of the old info. How to install the operating system on the new SSD with a fresh copy? In addition, I'm not too tech savvy and online and video tutorials confused me a bit with all the jargon.

If you have a copy of the installer you can install just outside, if you don't then you can download it and install it on the outside. Don't forget to replace the internal interconnection cable (data cable) while you have your Mac remotely.
