Windows 7 fail to start

Hello

New to this forum, so a bit a newbie to computing please give me all the answers in language I can understand. OK, I bought a pc on ebay, it came with a copied disc windows 7 with a product key which I think is authentic. When I start the pc it says 'insert boot disk failure' loaded files then got a page that asked me to install now or fix your computer. I tried to install and it has implemented from and operated with all upwards. Then got a page saying: "where do you want to install windows?", but there is no display in the choice list. Anyone have any ideas where I'm going from here?

Thanks for the input of everone with this problem. It has now been resolved by the fact that the removable hard drive had dislodged slightly during transport. A simple pressure and everything was well lol!

Original title: status of problem 0xc000098

    Hello Stephen,

We are sorry for the inconvenience. Let me help you solve the problem.

One of the main possible causes of the 0xc000098 error may be missing or corrupt boot manager. The description of the error is related to the Windows Boot Configuration data file does contain not a valid OS entry

As a recommendation, I suggest visit the Microsoft Help link below and check if it can help solve the problem.

Use Bootrec.exe in the WINRE to resolve startup problems

Refer to the section How to run the Bootrec.exe tool

Now, one of the prerequisites before you run the Bootrec.exe tool is a Windows 7 ISO. So if you bought a full retail copy of Windows 7 earlier, you will need the product key for download support for Windows 7 directly from the download page of software to Download Windows 7 disc (ISO files) Images

  • Windows 2003 fails to start after the conversion from a virtual hard disk with vSphere Standalone Converter 4.0.1

    Hello

I've recently updated my host to vSphere 4. I've also upgraded to vSphere Converter 4.0.1. However, when I convert a Microsoft Windows 2003 virtual hard drive in vSphere, the resulting virtual machine does not start. He gets just after the BIOS screen, then turns black with only a white line in the upper left corner of the console.

I tried the hot and cold conversions. I tried changing the different settings of default conversion. I tried to remove the source machine and recreate.

It worked well under ESX3.5, so I wonder what I'm doing wrong on vSphere.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you.

In v4 disk are in SCSI format only.

Probably also the source was in the SCSI format... so v7 to the IDE format give you not configured in the bootloader of the disks.

  • Windows Vista fails to start up normally. (ADVANCED QUESTION)

Well, I'm tired, here's the deal. I'm trying to fix a computer hp laptop. This is the error message that windows has not shutdown properly or a recent hardware change or messed up software operating system. When I load windows normally, it is stuck at the loading screen. When I go there to remedy, he suggested a system restore and freezes. When I put in a system repair disc, what happens with the error 0xc00000e9 status, which means basically that it cannot communicate with the disk drive. If anyone has ANY suggestions please help!

"When I put in a system repair disc, it comes up with error 0xc00000e9 statehood."

You cannot use a Windows 7 disc on a Vista computer.

It is not going to fix anything.

And make sure that borrow you the 'bit' correct (32-bit or 64-bit) Vista disc version.

There must be the same version of 'bit' that what is on your computer

  • Windows Update does not start

I am running Vista with SP2. Windows Update worked fine until a couple of days. I think that my laptop stop before it ended. Now, windows update fails to start completely - it just hangs.

    Any help appreciated.

    Restore point:

Try a restore of the system in normal mode.
If this does not work, try to do a restore of the system in Mode safe

Try a system restore to select a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    See you soon.

  • Windows Update fails because TrustedInstaller fails to start due to bad road cbscore.dll

I get error 80080005 when you try to run windows update.  I followed this to the fact that the Windows Module Installer fails to start.  Using ProcMon I could find this TrustedInstaller.exe fails to start.  It is a failure due to the following:

TrustedInstaller.exe QueryOpen C:\Windows\servicing\0.0.0.1\cbscore.dll IO QUICK REJECTED
TrustedInstaller.exe CreateFile C:\Windows\servicing\0.0.0.1\cbscore.dll path ACCESS not FOUND

TrustedInstaller.exe CreateFile C:\Windows\servicing\0.0.0.1\cbscore.dll path ACCESS not FOUND

I searched and cbscore.dll is actually under:

    C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-Windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6002.18005_none_0b4ada54c46c45b0

I tried to understand where TrustedInstaller.exe gets the path for cbscore.dll, but I had no chance.  Can someone tell me where TrustedInstaller.exe gets this way?  Or, more generally, how can I solve this problem?

    Hi sanjeevkode,

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.  As the question you posted typically associated with third party software / application that has its own way of program codes and call the corresponding system resources when installing and running. Therefore, I also suggest you to join the VMware Forums for the best support.

    VMware communities: http://communities.vmware.com/home.jspa

In the meantime I suggest you try these options / methods

IMPORTANT NOTE: Microsoft provides this information as a convenience to you. Proposed changes could lead to serious problems. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems would be solved as a result of the suggestions. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Option 1: If you go to computer management, and then to the list of Services and find the VMware authorization Service, it appears as stopped? If so, you need to start

Option 2: Try logging on as an administrator Local host during installation first workstation, rather than you connect with a domain ID

Option 3: The question can be caused also by your security program such an antivirus or a firewall of Windows /Defender that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall and check the result again. You must enable security programs new that had disabled you

Option 4: The problem could be linked to a local or domain group policy. Make sure that the local account is defined as 'local user __vmware_user__' in the local Administrators group and the permissions of "Log on locally" and "Log on as a service.

The two parameters are available in the "* Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment *" branch of domain group policy or local.

Let me know if it worked.
    Hope it will be useful.

I have a 4 years old HP G60-235DX computer laptop Vista Home Premium OEM factory installed.  I had been doing the blue screen of death the last 8 months.  On Tuesday afternoon, I ran ChkDsk.  It was taking too long so I hit the power button.  now on startup, a message indicates "Windows Failed To Start."  A recent hardware or software change might be the Cause. "I tried to restore it to 4pmPST (Tuesday 7/2), but he sent the message:"your computer is running In A Limited Diagnostic State.  If you use the system restore in this Limited State, you can't undo the restore operation. "Expert Microsoft at the reception of the answer took me by (attempt), safe mode safe mode with network (failed attempt), last known good configuration (failed attempt).   He said that he needs me to order a HP recovery disk because the Vista system files are corrupted, damaged or missing.   Does this sound correct?  Try to get a good HP # order JUST a recovery disk.   I was the victim of the "have you tried to fix your own computer without HP offers you a recovery disk?   This is what happens when you try to fix it yourself without HP offers you a recovery disk. »
