  Gurus:
  I have Oracle 10 g Express edition is installed on the Windows XP operating system. I am not able to connect as sys or system. I think that it has been installed to view secure adobe files. I would be grateful if someone can help me to recover the password.
  I tried the following:
  (1) use Oradim to reset the password. The password does not change
  (2) set ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME, and then open a session as sqlplus/as sysdba. No luck - I get ORA-01031: insufficient privileges.
  
  Also, if I need to uninstall (although I do not do) simply remove directories, removing the regedit - it will work?
  Appreciate any help.

  Hello..

  Check the SQLNET. AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES parameter in the ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora file. If its NONE change it to NTR and try to connect with sys as sysdba, without any password. If you are able to connect, change/reset the password for the sys.

  Why did you encrypt your files? You did it because you wanted to prevent anyone from reading your files, unless you have the password and the key.
