XP has a different start page

Hi Please help I have start xp this morning and it does not show my normal home most of my icons and programs have diserpered and it asks me to register my software again programs. It's as if we were watching a new user account. When I check my c drive there a file saying: desktop. And all my icons and other files are still there. That's happened?

What are the symptoms of a corrupt user profile.  To recover, try one of the following:

Corrupted user profiles are almost always accompanied, if not caused, file system corruption.  Everything you do, it's time to perform a check disk (chkdsk) operation with the "/ R" or retrieve options.  Sometimes, if you're lucky, this step can repair the problem itself.  Note that this control is made during next restart before Windows load fully, can last more than a few hours and can not be interrupted.

  • DW 8 Start Page - Home Spa - slow

OK, WARNING: I'm completely new to DW and using version 8, just learning, new to this forum, and no idea why simply create a site locally and then add a page (from the Starter page, unchanged) is a problem. When I navigate to the start page (IE 7) or save it and go to the view... that it is very slow. Slow, as... a mouse on a link and wait 10 seconds for the hover to highlight... this kind of slow. I tried a different start page and it worked ok... but the spa page has the style that I want to use in a site that I need to prototype. .. .and I can't simply ignore it is to say as a platform for navigation if cela question.

Must be something extremely obvious I missed. Ignorance is not happiness.

Apparently, the problem is my particular browser of IE (settings). The Web site performs well with IE on several other machines and works well with Safari on my desk. I do not know what settings of IE is the cause, this isn't a question of Dreamweaver.

... Thank you for your answer to my question.

  • Error message: no Start Page cannot display this Web Site no Start Page has been configured.

    Hello.

I work with my client technology company to point their domain on the newly published site hosted on Adobe Business Catalyst. They get the following message when they try to point the domain to ABC...

"No Start Page cannot display this Web Site no Start Page has been configured. To configure a default start page, set one of your Web Pages to the Start Page. Please contact your administrator for more information. »

This who should I tell them to do. Thank you.

In the admin of the web site, change the page to the default page and set as start page.

  • Can I put in start page for Firefox with a different search engine, not Google?

I remove all things 'Google' from my computer. I want the Start Page for Firefox, because I can get to options, modules, etc. and I don't want to lose this.

Easier is to select the preferred search engine in the search bar on the Navigation toolbar to see the name of this search engine in the pref browser.search.selectedEngine and copy its value to the browser.search.defaultenginename pref.

Firefox should use this search engine on the subject: home page after a closing and restarting Firefox.

If this isn't the case, then you can have an extension which is predominant, especially if the pref change.

  • Funmoods has hijacked my Mozilla start page

I use Mozilla default start page (topic: Home). Funmoods changed the Google search engine. I do not have the Funmoods toolbar & Funmoods isn't in my installed programs. Also, Funmoods is not listed as an add-on, or it appears in my other search engines. I want to just get rid of it. I have reset my default homepage of Mozilla (topic: Home)-no change. I went in: config & reset "browser.startup.homepage" and I always funmoods as the default search. Someone can understand where could hide from the funmoods & how can I reset my default google search engine?

I think that the techniques in the following thread should run as long you don't have any what persistent extension: how it prevents 3rd party applications to change settings (for example the homepage) of the FF?.

To eradicate any suspicious sounding or simple unnecessary extensions, see the list here:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules > category: Extensions

Before the last update of my Mozilla Firefox, the start page for Firefox contained one area internet address to the top of the screen, where I could enter a Web address and go success. She also showed the Google search box in the middle of the screen.

Now, after the update of Firefox, the start page shows that the Google search box. There is no internet address box or an impressive "box", which, according to my reading of the new features, is supposed to have replaced the internet address box.

  • At startup, an additional tab is open. How can I get rid of this way I only have my start page?

When I start the application Foxfire on my pc it automatically opens an additional tab? How can I get rid of the extra tab. I tried closing and restarting but it's still there? It's more frustrating to a major problem.
    Thank you

Hi, Firefox is able to open multiple home pages with the URL separated by a "pipe" (|), so please see - How to set the home pageand in "Home Page", make sure that in addition to the URL of your home page (the Firefox start page is Subject: House but you can have another, or the page new tab, which is on) (: newtab) he has nothing else - if that's the case, just delete it.

If it's easier, you can just click Restore default instead.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

  • Cannot remove the bing.vc start page.

I have tried everything I can find to stop the bing.vc to open start page in firefox version 39 and so far nothing has worked. I can't find a reference to in about: config. firefox update did not help; No Add-ons refer to him and protect the pipes or research do not appear to uninstall programs in Control Panel. No malware removal tool has no effect on it and I used everything that was recommended on the Mozilla support site. Help please!

No, I do not use the subject: Firefox home start page. I use Yahoo.com as my start page. I tried the Preferences section and removed my Bing search ad. It contains a list of Yahoo as my home page and I also ran Malware bytes, Ccleaner, Spybot S and D, Super Spyware Blaster and other recommended online. I've also scanned with AVG. None of them have picked up something suspicious. I'll try a line like Panda Cloud AV scanner Thanks again for your help.

For some unknown reason, Bing.vc is gone. Don't have a clue what I did but something worked. Your help was greatly appreciated.

  • How can I stop my reset to Yahoo start page whenever I restart my computer?

I think that this started happening since the last update (FF 38 or 38.0.1).

When I open Firefox, my home page is set to Yahoo (https://search.yahoo.com/?type=282369 & en = spigot-yhp-ff). Can I change my start page to display an empty page and delete the page Yahoo my settings, and it seems to save my decision. I close Firefox and open it again, and it will show me a blank page instead of the page of Yahoo.

As soon as I restart my computer, however, Firefox think I want my start page of Yahoo again. I tried to delete the "user.js", verified that the prefs.js file is not set to be read-only, and I have no other files prefs.js - as in the folder that contains my prefs.js file.

I have all the new extensions (the only one I use is uBlock, and I've had that since before the problem started). I checked my addons, and they look all legitimate, so I'm fairly certain that I have not installed malicious software.

If this can help: the first time I had this happens, my search engine has also been modified to use Yahoo instead of Google. However, I could easily pass this back to Google, and even if my start page resets to Yahoo after a reboot my search engine by default do not turn away from Google.

If you look at this URL, he actually named the culprit: Spigot. You may have cleaned some add - ons Spigot undesirable (for example, eBay, shopping and research extensions-related) but something seems to have been left, or is being restored.
