XP SP3 reinstall slower computer performance, a lot of hang ups, delayed write failed and bsod.

Hi everyone;

Thank you all very much for putting time and effort to help as many people. I thought I was opening first with a receipt.

I'm very tired on my computer. I already spent days and days trying to solve a lot of questions. Literally, my computer has been hindering my work since the middle of January!

I have a Dell Dimension 4700 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 2.99 Ghz and 3.25 GB of Ram, with a Hitachi 500 GB HDS721050CLA362 as the main disk (Disk0) and a Seagate 1 TB ST31000528AS secondary storage (disk 1) with Windows XP SP3 disk. I have insalled all updates (including frame work 1.1 windows.net, 2 something etc).

I have avast antivirus and it is always kept up to date as well as ad-aware and anti malware malbyte.

I recently bought a BlacX Thermaltake Docking Station and 2 TB Hitachi 3.5 car as well. I try to have 2 backups of my work, because I lost valuable data in the past.

Initially, I had only 2 GB of Ram, but I knew that my computer could handle 4 GB because I have confirmed these specifications with the people of Dell who assembled to the machine. Right now I have 4 GB of ram, as confirmed in the menu setup.

I also originally had a Maxtor 80 GB disk0 and disk1 No.

I opted to replace the Maxtor 80 GB because it is 6 years old already and I run Adobe CS4 production Premium. I thought that 500 GB would suit my OS & important programs and large temporary files that they generate.

When I reinstalled the operating system on the Maxtor I had formatting problems. It hangs at 94% or I would get a BSOD on start up. Then I used the 500 GB HDD and ran the Installation of XP on it and was fine.

I used it for a week, but I noticed his incredibly slow, despite having all this ram and a clean operating system installation.

I am also BSOD when I launch the antivirus OR when I try to copy files from one HD to another (of the primary transmission on the slave drive OR the disk from 2 TB to dock, or from disk on the drive connected slave or the slave on the primary drive drive). Other times I'll take an absurd copy for a file time relatively small i.ye. a 300 MB file will suddenly be more than an hour to copy.

I have run diagnostics and diskscan and receive nothing wrong. Windows finished 'control' the disc and not tell me that something was wrong. I look at the disk management tool, and all readers "(healthy)" next to them.

The skeptic in me feels like this happens when I install the updates of the .net framework. I already reinstalled OS two times.

Isn't .net important features of the machine?

I'm so lost in this and I spend most of my days Googling solutions and try to implement them without result. I've disabled "write cache" and reactivated it. I went through a bunch of procedures aimed at preventing the failure of writeback. I do not have any type of file sharing software or torrents on my machines at all and I do not share my files. My firewall is on.

All that I know, I did everything by the book and to the letter, so I feel like my computer could run surprisingly, not like I have a lemon and I'm terrified that I'll lose all my work despite the fact that I have enough space to save all of the universe.

Thanks again for all your help! It is really appreciated in advance and always.

PEI

I ended up reinstalling the operating system again, it works fine now. But it was very very weird. Thank you very much to try to advise me, I know that it was a complicated issue.

See you soon

  • Slow computer, with a lot of not Respondings

All of a sudden I feel some very slow computer operation, randomly, but occurring essentially (like big breaks when you type this note while I couldn't type - several times).  This is just an example - here's more:

-take several seconds (sometimes 10-15 seconds) to appear in the email preview pane

-take 10-15 seconds for a PDF file is displayed after double-clicking

-sometimes for 10 to 15 seconds to close a window

-sometimes 10 to 15 seconds when you click homepage, folders, display, count tabs on Windows Live Mail

-also 10 to 15 seconds discovers a photo after double clicking on a jpeg image file

-delays when you type in the search for box

-sometimes very slow loading of programs (and most of the cases above have to do with something loading)

-(don't know for the sake of typing (i.e. of the breaks in the middle of a line)

-Many do not respond (IE 10.0, Live Mail, Windows Explorer, Adobe Reader, almost everywhere)

I got these things in the past, but only very rarely (not more than a few times a day, if that), but now they are chronic (but random) - like constantly for a few minutes and then they clear up for a few minutes.  For these last days, they have been more frequent in the late afternoon or early evening, when I'm more active on the computer.

In fact, they are so bad that occasionally they make my computer almost unusable.

I ran Malewarebytes and a Microsoft Security Essentials - no virus scan.  I have delete just maybe 20,000 electronic messages in the Live Mail folder deleted, but that did not help.  I have just some time he put a floor fan extra on the computer where there is a kind of heat problem (the House temperature is in the high 70 years), but tht didn't help either (at least so far).

I have published the Task Manager and have been watching process CPU usage (on my 2nd screen).  Most of the time is to be spent in the system idle process - and you know how he flashes every second or so (when he's done things), sometimes when things were locked u (frozen, whatever), the display of the process seems to have stopped for several seconds - as she did not answer either.

Can you offer any help or advice.  As I said, sometimes the system is pretty unusable.  And randomly.  I got 3 messages "(Microsoft.com ne répond ne pas de) when typing the 1st paragraph of this note, but have not had any problems since."

Can it be a heat problem, graphics problem or something like that - because it seems to stretch across everything I do.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded: run DriverView - define the VIEW
for the drivers Microsoft hide - updated those without drain in their names. (Also updated
    the BIOS and chipset drivers.)

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

Original title: Volsnap error, VSS, registry handle leaks, the drivers won't load is not etc.

Little by little over the last few months, my computer has been slowing down, suddenly "not responding" in the middle of a program and a few other oddities.  I can't identify when this started because he was progressive.  I had to replace an old drive SSD C and when I did, I also bought a new copy of Windows 7 Prof 64 bit SP1.  Drive C is now SATA 6.

Specs are adequate, CPU i7 930, 16 GB ram, 2 7200 1 TB WD drives each, 1 WD 'green' 2.5 SATA 6 GB, an Intel SSD SATA2 M225 and a Corsair Force SATA 6, which is the 'new' drive C.

I apologize for this long post, but I thought that some of them might be related, and I'd appreciate any help I can get like this had been a machine very good and fast until the last month or two.

    33000

    Hello
The three files that does not loaded at startup proved a Paragon backup facility that I had deleted.  I found in the registry and is more had this error.

Slow and sudden episodes of "not responding" continues in safe mode, safe mode with network and boot.

Mr. Fixit noted that I had too many programs loaded on startup that I already knew and will work hard to stop.  It has been useful in this gave me a list of the programs that did not need to start.  Some of this list was a distant base such that suggests my AV does not need to start, but some of it was useful.

I then started to keep track of programs that seemed more likely to slow down or freeze the machine.  I reduced to one of my drives 3 1/2 inch WD 7200 and my 25 M Intel SSD.

I ran Intel SSD toolbox and it showed no errors and no updates.  Estimated of life was about 95% and I had the car for 2 years.  There is an option to click that says "SSD Optimizer", and I suspect it is similar to a manual pad because it is one of their first records.  I "optimized" and it was immediately faster.  Intel said to do once a week or two and I never did.

I ran HD Tune Pro on the WD and it showed a bad CRC so that a warning on the drive, which is less than a year. HD air said the drive is bad OR a cable is bad.  I had a backup, Acronis Disk which took most of the data and I also had the cloud with versioning backup.

Knowing that the food had been replaced by a technician who had twisted power cables, because most of the readers had been asked in reverse, I attacked this first.  I turned every drive so that the connection of the power supply has been on the same side and reconnect the cable after doing my best to straighten out and flatten the wire.  I then installed a new SATA cable on the WD drive in question.

Then, wanting to be done with it once and for all and ensuring that I could save between Acronis and my backup of cloud, I used the command line in Administrator, then to Drive E tools mode, error checking.  I ticked the boxes: analyze and attempt to recover bad sectors and automatically fix file system errors.  A reboot and the process had started.

When you are finished, I seemed to have a catchy machine and some of the programs which often hung, is done in two days.  Programs were pretty much intact, but most of the files had been erased from the disk.  I have restored all wiped files and files of Acronis and the cloud and everything seems to work perfectly.

Unable to help me, I ran HD Tune Pro and made a mistake (not fast) full scan on the E drive.  She came back without error.

I know that this drive can fail again, and above all, I couldn't have been this aggressive if I had not had 2 backups.

Do you think it will fail again?  I decided that, if so, I'll get another SSD (or two) to replace.  Although it will cost you much, I fear that hard drives are not very well made and I don't want to go through this again - and maybe not be so lucky.

Thanks for your help and I'll post again if it fails in the near future.  Someone knows something about the new SSD Plextor?  Or would you go with Samsung?

    Thanks again.

The computer is particularly slow in Safari, but was slower than normal as well. I backed up my files in Time Machine to an external drive before any troubleshooting, so I'm really happy about it. The person had me clear everything and go into recovery mode and reinstall the OS. After that I had problems with closing down and restart so I reinstalled again and just have not stopped since then. I don't him have NOT YET migrated all my files back and will not until I know that the system is stable. My laptop is functional but still just very slow. Can someone please help? I'm desperate! Thank you so much in advance!

  • Slow computer - CPU spikes

Dell Dimension 3000 Desktop, Windows XP - SP3.   My computer was slow substantially lately so I researched the potential causes.  Performed several scans for viruses and malware with none detected.  Ran a msconfig to see if something was running at startup I knew - again nothing unexpected.  Then I looked in the Windows Task Manager.  With nothing else running - it's nothing listed in the Applications tab and do not touch the keyboard or the mouse, when look at the CPU usage, I noticed there's a spike to nearly 60% for 5 seconds of every minute.  Is this normal, or should I look for more strong something running in the background?  Suggested next steps?

This has been resolved in the end like a malware problem.

  • SLOW, SLOW COMPUTER

I don't know what is happening on my computer.  I have a HP with Windows XP.  He started running so slow and lazy that I am ready to throw.

I've defragged, run Disk Cleanup, run Malwarebytes and same Ad Aware.  I can't run a return to work.

Can someone help me?  Where can I turn and what are looking for?  I can't afford to take it to a professional to fix it.

    Thank you!

    Barb

What is the model and the model number of your HP PC? You have XP Home or Pro, or MCE? What are you doing SP level to? Have you installed XP security update patches? What other than MMFA and AdAware security programs (e.g., antivirus, other antimalware, firewall, etc.) are you running? Are they up-to-date? (Note: AdAware is known to slow the performance of a PC, depending on how it is configured). How much RAM do you have? What is your hard drive and how much space does? When she started to slow. Are you able to remember what you have on your PC right before the problem (installation of a particular program or updated or some suspicious behavior after visiting a compromised Web site)?

Here are the usual causes of slow:

    1. malware (malware). You need to rule out first! This page has excellent information:

    http://Web.archive.org/Web/20080610163247/http :// www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

    2. some programs aimed at combating malware (for example, Norton and McAfee). Ironically, they can slow things down because they use simply much too many resources. Sometimes they cause conflicts with other programs. And their default mode is to scan your entire hard drive whenever you start. Fortunately, there are other programs of anti-malware software available that use much less resources (p. ex., NOD32, Avast and Avira).

    3. too much of certain types of programs still running in background - with or without your consent. (Then again, a lot of programs running in the background of the consequences trivial.)

To determine each program and process, you are running, use the task (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) Manager and click the processes tab. You should be able to sort by CPU usage or memory usage for a good ideas that are resource/memory hogs. You must write the names of all the processes for future detective work (or take a snapshot and print it).

Use these sites to determine what these programs are, and learn how configure them to not always run when starting:

    http://www.PACS-portal.co.UK/startup_content.php#THE_PROGRAMS
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/
    http://www.AnswersThatWork.com/Tasklist_pages/Tasklist.htm

Sometimes, it is recommended to use msconfig to configure programs to run at startup. A better, more thorough program is Autoruns:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

But before that, you must use the settings preference of the program in question. Otherwise, for some programs, they will return to the list of startup anyway!

If you do not want to use msconfig, it can be accessed in this way:

Start | Run | Type "msconfig" (without the quotes). Enter (or OK)

    4. not enough RAM, causing the PC too rely on the pagefile. A quick way to determine if what is happening is to open (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) Task Manager, and then click the performance tab. Then the three values under Commit Charge (k) Note: in the lower left corner: Total, limit and peak.

The Total number represents the amount of memory you are using right now. The vertex figure represents the maximum amount of memory you made since the last boot. If these figures are lower than the value of the amount of physical memory (K), then you probably have lots of RAM. In case you want to study it more, you can run the Page queue Monitor for Windows XP:

    http://www.dougknox.com/XP/utils/xp_pagefilemon.htm

    5. you can also verify that the access mode of your hard drive has not changed from DMA to PIO:

  • How can I improve my computer performance ratings?

Recently I bought Halo 2 for Vista. I loaded into my computer and am really a lot about the installation process. Then I clicked on "Finish." After that, I got an error message that says "Initailization Failed". He said that he might be missing data or the disc is scarched. This was not true. It also says that you can reinstall and it would work. No luck with that. Evenually, I thought it might be my computer performance ratings. !) SIDE NOTE - I have a DELL inspiron 530 withVista '32'. (!  So I checked my notes and my areas I need to improve are: graphics (3.9) and graphics of games (3.3). As you probably know your base score is determined by your lower under-score. My lower under-score is games graphic that is 3.3. I want to get between them and my graphics (3.9) until a 5.0 rating. Can someone help me?

You need to buy one - it is a piece of hardware (no software which can be downloaded).  Make sure the card is compatible with your computer, your BIOS, your motherboard and your version of Vista (you may need to consult the computer manufacturer to confirm, you get the right card - or get them specifically for your computer).  Also make sure that it's "quite better" solve the problem - and I would like to get a little more because the computer components become obsolete very quickly.  It will be delivered with the software, firrmware and/or drivers that must be installed before the latter won't work - instuctions should come with it or be available on the web site of the manufacturer of the video card or the provider.  Make sure that the card has enough RAM onboard to make a difference if you want to improve these scores as much as you do.  The card will tell you your new score when you buy - you'll just have to get a good and check it out to see if it does the trick.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Service Pack 2 could not install, windows can not access the service install and slow computer

Please help, I'm using Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I'm not very technical, and I think that my problems began some time ago when Vista Service Pack 2 Installation causing boot failure has failed and that I could not connect. I tried a fix by using the Startup Repair and was able to connect again, but now all my Vista updates since then do not install and now my computer is running extremely slow, constantly trolling.  I also have problems "windows service install could not have access. I have tried to reinstall Windows Installer 4.5 but says "update does not apply to my system. I also tried to unregister and re-register Windows install that does not work. When I try to 'upgrade' my installation disc vista, the option is not available. I think my computer is confused if it running SP1 or SP2. Also I can not install programs because of the installer, the service to publish a work around if needed. Thank you

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?  Who were these applications that run in the background when you tried to install SP2?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for Windows Vista, but only for Service Pack 2 (SP2). This support, initially planned to end on November 26, 2009, has been extended until February 26, 2010. Availability of support chat or messaging differs depending on your location. Some questions may require that more support for which he is advanced a charge.  Go to http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?prid=13014&gprid=582034 & select appropriate category (i.e., download problem;) Installation problem; Problems after installing a service pack).

  • How can I solve the problem of slow computer or what nested steps I need to take more things that I mention below to slow computer speed?

    Hello

I know that for your computer to start faster, you can disable in msconfig certain applications or auto-start services

I also know that to make your computer faster to do a virtual and half larger than the memory size, more you will need to start it and the value of the same size virtual memory, for example start value 3000 end value3000.

I know also some malicious spyware can slow down your computer.

In addition, you can add more memory to mke your computer more fast, your drive hard must be empty of 25%.

In addition to these things I mentioned before nested thing wat do I check to solve the problem of slow computer?

    can you give me some?

    Thank you

    Johan

The size of the virtual memory required will depend on the type of requests and is influenced by the installed physical memory. The 1.5 times value really applies to computers with a limited amount of ram and the use of virtual will decrease with an increase in physical (but remove never virtual memory altogether) while Shawn says investigate fitting over RAM.

Setting the pagefile identical to max and min values will reduce fragmentation but was so moving to a less actively used by car.

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff382717.aspx

The largest suites 'internet security' may have much more impact than the plain simple AV (that's why I use MSE).

By far the biggest kick in performance should be move to the SSD, it reduces by half my boot time.

If a desktop computer fits a discreet graphics card, she discharge the graphic CPU and restores memory used.

As well as Msconfig, check the contents of the process in the Task Manager tab. Most will be perfectly legitimate, but you can identify the odd thief of uninstalled programs.

NOT tempted by claims of speed countless programs available. Rarely, they make a significant difference and can do serious damage.

  • I bought and downloaded a digital copy of Windows 8 and I had to format and reinstall my computer - no E-mail order or code of the product, only Paypal purchase information

    Hello

I bought and installed Windows 8 as a digital downloadon November 13, I had to format and reinstall my computer in order to correct a hardware problem and now I can not re - download Windows 8.
I don't have the original email from Microsoft with my product code I can't find my order number to complete the form at: http://www.mswos.com so that I can not retrieve my product code in order to perform an upgrade of windows 8.
The only evidence of the purchase that I have is my paypal invoice that does not have a valid order number contained in the details of the Bill.
This question makes me wish I had ordered a disc like this would have included a product code label. Any help or a number I can call to retrieve my order number (or maybe I'm filling out the form at http://www.mswos.com incorrectly) would be greatly appreciated.

    Help, please

Could be almost anything of this description.

A little more information, such as your operating system (Win 7 - starter, family premium, 32 bit, 64 bit etc), can help your PC spec (CPU, Ram, graphics card, etc.) when it freezes (i.e. is it randomly, or when you try a specific task or you open a specific program)? Is full of your hard drive or you have loads of free space?

    However, input:

It could be malicious, so download it, install, update (updated by right-clicking on its icon and 'run as administrator' then go to the update tab) and run a complete scan with free malwarebytes.

    Run a disk error check

Run a SFC / scannow check the operating system

If you perform a clean boot as a test, it freezes then? Don't forget to get back to normal after the test.

If only, it freezes when you try to play a game, try updating your graphics and sound card drivers.
