XPS 12 inches

I bought a 12-inch xps. his brilliant, but my only flaw is that it doesn't have a hdmi connector. Well it does, but I can't find an hdmi cable that fits my TI. Makes me crazy because I always used to connect to my old dell on my tv through the hdmi cable.

I was wondering anyone have any idea what type of hdmi cable I can use. The location is really small!

Thank you!

The system has a mini displayport - you will need an adapter or a mini displayport to hdmi cable.

My new Dell XPS 15 came with 2 hard drives: 1 TB 5400 RPM hard drive + 128 GB SSD drive. What is the function of each? Why this configuration?

    Hi Lorenzo Maceiras,.

Normal hard disks are used to store data. However, SSDS are used to improve performance, fast access to data, small in size, etc.. You can see the below link for more information about the same:

    http://Dell.to/12GoIru

SSDS are quite expensive compared to normal hard drives. It can be used to store your regular data that is used very often (for ex: Documents and music).

  • Keyboard output incorrect characters after the re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530

Original title: some of the keys on the keyboard messed up after re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530

    Hey guys,.

I have recently reinstalled windows because last year I picked up a few errors that I couldn't fix it easily and I wanted a clean slate.

I have install all the drivers etc, but I noticed on my keyboard, if I try and make a "sign it comes up with a sign @ and vice versa." There are also others like that, so I guess that my keyboard readers need to update? Although I have no idea why they would need updating as they were before.

Anyway, I went here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_M1530&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= and I tried to find the driver I need, but could not find them.

So, overall, my question is should I update the drivers? If so, how?

And if not, how can I fix?

    Thank you. :)

    Hi cripple.

    Thank you for your message.

Was is happening until you have reinstalled Windows?

How do you reinstall Vista, what steps did you take?

    What is a wireless keyboard?

If this is the case, check the batteries and make sure that the keyboard is very close to the receiver (a few inches) to see if the problem resolves.

I suggest updating your anti-virus definitions and run a fun system scan.

  • XPS 12, docking targus wireless problem

    HY,

I just bought a 12 XPS and a targus docking station. I have the problem that whenever I plug the docking station for XPS wireless connection becomes unstable and is not more often so I can't connect to my wireless internet connection (the computer recognizes the connection but then is not able to connect to it). As soon as I unplug the targus docking station, wireless works fine.

I tried several updates such driver as suggested in other posts, but nothing seems to work.

    dziadgba

    I solved my problem.

OK, as I said, I have a XPS 9333 13 inches.  It has 2 USB 3.0 ports, one on each side of the computer.

When I plug the dock into the LEFT one, my wireless connection stops working.

When I plug the dock on the RIGHT one, my wireless connection works great!

I wonder if this might be worth trying for others.  He evaded me because of what I thought, it was the sheer illogic of the notion which of two identical so-called ports you used would have an impact.

  • XPS 8500 video upgrade (again) - how long the card maybe? Windows 8 & UEFI?

(I looked for this information, but I can't find the answer.)

I have a 8500 XPS which planned to be delivered on Friday.  I got the 7570 stock, because I wanted to shop for my own card.  I think of a Ti-7870 or a 660.

1 how long a updated video card maybe?  (One of the cards that I watch is 10.5 "long.)  That fit?)

2 I have search in a third party card that will let me know if it will work with Windows 8/UEFI?  I read a few posts on the machine does not not with some spare cards.

I've not ridden a PC in a long, long time, and I fear that the new mother/CPU card technology is way beyond my comprehension.  This PC had the kindness of an impulse buy, and I'm starting to regret it.

    Thank you.

Card full size can be 12 inches long and 2 wide slots.

'normal' PCI card is specified as a height of 107 mm (4.2 inches) and a depth of 312 mm (12,283 inches)

  • GeForce GTX 970/980 on XPS 8700

Hello, I have XPS 8700, which came with OEM GTX 745. I think it passes to the Geforce GTX 970 or 980. These word on 8700 XPS video cards?

I am particularly concerned, because system recommended for 970 power is 500 W to nVidia's specifications, total power of XPS8700 is 460 w. Has anyone installed GTX 970 or 980 on 8700 XPS?

    Hey Ryocchin,

The GTX970 or the GTX980 will work in terms of being able to connect through PCI-express port.  Where you might encounter a problem is with the physical size of the map.  I know that some 970 models can be 12 inches, I guess the 980 years can grow according to the solutions of cooling for these exotic cards.

The other piece of the puzzle is to replace the power supply.  A 460W pourrait be authorized as a basis of suppliers GPU their system requirements on the assumptions made about the power draw of the entire system & always shoot a bit on the high side.  But if your computer is a few years old is probably not turn off 460 watts.  So I recommend a new power supply.  EVGA, Corsair, XFXm and Antec have all been good for me over the years.  If you want to simulate a modular PSU that you'll save tangles of cables.

So those are the two big things to look for: physical space for the graphics card (although I'm sure that a XPS8700 will hold a 970 without problem a lot) and a new power supply.

The Dell service manual is here if you want to get an idea of what it looks like to replace components:
    http://downloads.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_xps_desktop/XPS-8700_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.PDF

I hope this helps!  Let us know what other questions you might have.

  • Upgrade the hardware of Dell XPS (L521x) how to perform a clean reinstall of Windows 10 Pro

    Hello

I searched on the internet with the question that I have before doing the upgrade and the re-installation of windows. But the messages and solutions are all scattered. I really want to clear this for me once and for all if possible.

First of all, the material that I bought for this upgrade:

1 Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD 120 GB (to replace the one 32 GB (factory default)

2 western Digital Black 750Go Performance Mobile HDD (7200 RPM, 2.5 inches)

    3 Intel (r) Dual Band Wireless - AC 7260 (802.11ac, 2 x 2 Wi - Fi, Bluetooth)

    4. crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16 GB (2x8GB) PC3-14900 CL10 at 1.35v 204 pin memory

BTW, my Dell XPS 15 L521x has an intel core i7-3632QM and an nVIDIA GeForce GT 640 M. It also comes with 32 mSATA SSD as cache for the WDC 1 TB HARD drive.

    My goal:

1 install/reinstall Windows 10 mSATA SSD 120 GB and free 500 MB give or take for system reserved partition.

    2. use the remaining space in the C: drive.

    3. use WD Black 2.5 inch 750 GB HHD for cold storage

    4. Remove and reinstall the wireless card Intel Dual Band for a better Wi - Fi compatiability for most routers dual band out there. (Factory default, well, is not great to say the least)

    5. Remove and then install the crucial RAM (compatiable with L521x) is to upgrade memory of my laptop (maybe a little future-proof;) (D).

Before you start the upgrade, I know I have to do the following steps:

    1. update my BIOS/UEFI. (I did it)

2 clear accelerated Intel Rapid Start Technology (IRST) GUI (my laptop keeps inviting that "your system does not have any intel repaid with start technology").

    3. change Intel Smart response Technology (ISRT) to AHCI in BIOS

    4 back up my files

    5. my 10 Pro Activation of emergency Windows (how exactly? The Win10 Pro is upgraded to Windows Pro 8.1 with OEM Dell)

Now my question is what I do or what I've been missing so that what I will meet errors or problems if possible.

Also, I have heard or seen something on the OEM of Windows version. If I change the hardware, disk files or recovering backup activation does not recognize my device. Is this true? If necessary, I can buy a new version of Win10 Pro retail. But, what I really need to do, and does it perform a not-so-complicated work around?

    Thank you very much

    Dean

If you keep your motherboard you have no problem taking the other components such as SSDS.

Your system is already a Pro 10 Windows device.

Installing clean with 10 Windows installation media Pro TH2 your OEM Pro 8.1 Windows key will be automatically entered to the UEFI BIOS and Windows 10 Pro TH2 automatically reactivates when your systems online.

  • XPS 8300 and GTX 980 Ti

    Hello

I have an a XPS 8300, I was wondering if it will work with a GTX 980 Ti assuming that:

    • Power supply is upgraded (already have)
    • fits in the case (go to check)
    • Updated BIOS (I'm sure that I have of the A06 Bios will check)
    • have minimum 8G of ram (I do).
    • Still using Win 7.

from what I've read, 980 seems to work if you have the above. What about a Ti 980?

is there anything else I should be worried?

    Thank you

On this page there was a guy by the name of "SlimJ87D" who put a 980ti in a 8700 successfully. I think it's basically the same deal.

Unfortunately, due to the connectors being the end of the map that they were under the metal aside for him then, he said, it was not enough space to put in the pin connectors, while his shear part of the metal that you see in the picture he posted on this page that I linked.

You may need to do the same thing that ti 980 you get. He used the MSI file that is listed as 5.51 inches in height.

A smaller in size might very well fit. Here "agentblue" said the ti-980 EVGA adapt without the need to change the case. The ti PNY 980 is similar in size to the EVGA so it would probably be good too. Most of the others seem to be larger.

  • Why Dell does not 14 XPS and Inspiron 7000 14

Really, I bought months ago that my laptop but I couldn't decide if a 13-inch or 15-inch. For 5 years, I was used to 15 in laptop and I think it's the best size, and I am determined to keep this size.

If you think that 13 is very small, and I use glasses so I don't see in this minimalist form. On the other hand, 15 inches is a big brick! I need power and screen but not weight.

Does not have why Dell XPS 14 or 14 precision? It would be nice.

    Thanks for your replies.

  • Upgrade GPU for XPS 8700

As the title says, I have a question about the Dell XPS 8700. I wanted to update the graphics card and after browsing through the forum, I think I already know the answer, but would have an EVGA GeForce GTX 960 to adapt and be compatible.

The dimensions of the GPU are 4.38 inches x 10.1 inches x 2 inches with a request for a power of 400 W.

There is an entire thread dedicated to the XPS 8700 / nVidia GTX upgrade.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/t/19611037

you don't need to upgrade the power supply for a GTX 960, and most will fit.

Regarding the power supply, I went with Seasonic X - 650 s and they are a little longer than the original but adapt easily.

  • This card will fit in my XPS 8700?

I recently bought an XPS 8700 and thought to upgrade his graphics card. I'm looking at one is the EVGA 4 GB Geforce GTX 770 here:

    http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Superclocked-Dual-Link-Graphics-04G-P4-3774-KR/dp/B00E5AEIKE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1382478542&sr=1-1&keywords=EVGA+GeForce+GTX+770+Superclocked+with+ACX+Cooler+4+GB+GDDR5+256-Bit+Dual-Link+DVI-I%2FDVI-D+HDMI+DP+SLI+Ready+Graphics+Card+04G-P4-3774-KR

The card is listed with the dimensions of 12.9 x 9.5 x 2.9 inches. After looking at the inside of the case I am afraid that this card does not. Can someone help me with the question of whether this card will fit in a case of XPS 8700?

Either by the way, I am aware of the problems of compatibility with the 8700 UEFI and have already bought a beefier power supply for a new card.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello NinthLayer,

Dell XPS 8700 has never been tested with the EVGA 4 GB GeForce GXT 770. However, few users have installed nVIdia GeForce GTX 770 2 GB successfully on their XPS 8700. The nVIdia GeForce GTX 770 2 GB size is 10.3 "x 4.3" x double Slot. So before you buy the card, I suggest you take the computer to a local store and check if the graphics card works on the system.

Please note: the EVGA 4 GB GeForce GXT 770 requires minimum of POWER supply 600W with PCI-E power 2 connector x 8 pins.

    I hope this helps!

  • Can I mount a 7mm HARD drive in the Dell XPS M1530 HARD drive Bay?

I have a laptop Dell XPS M1530 age of 5 year.

What additional data / power cables will I need?

    Thank you!

    Hi Husker77,

    Welcome to the community.

The system has two bays of 5.25 inches for loading tray SATA DVD +/-RW or Blu - ray drive (option) disc (optional) writable Blu - ray disc and two Bay 3.5 inches for SATA hard drives (internally accessible).

An mSATA SSD drive (available internally). There are four connectors 7-pin (1 x SATA III, 3 x SATA II) where you can install the drives. A SATA 3 connector is occupied by the main hard drive and a SATA 2 connector is occupied by the optical drive. So yes, you can install a secondary hard drive and an optical drive in the system. Power connectors, ideally it should be there in the Tower system, however in case they are not present, you may need to power connectors to be ordered separately.

Let me know any conclusions, glad to be useful.
