  • Dell XPS 2710 all-in-One will not start, the totally blank screen

Hello. This is my first post on the forums and I hope someone can help me.

The Dell XPS 2710 all-in-one I bought for my 10 year old 15 months ago (Yes, that means that the guarantee is expired) will not start. No no post, no beeps, nothing. Just a brief spark of light on the screen, no words, nothing. The machine gets occasional use, and there is nothing to indicate what could have caused the problem. I have not upgraded the BIOS recently, is not as if it was a bad BIOS update, or whatever it is. I tried to hit the F1, F2, F12 keys delete during startup. No results.

The video works. I know because I can connect my laptop to the HDMI-in port and I can see the desktop of my laptop very well. So the question is NOT the video. My son uses this machine for occasional movies and homework in his room. I want to fix the computer, if I can. I am handy with computers and built several machines from the outset in the past.

I believe that the most likely scenario is that the motherboard has went wrong; There are several posts around the internet about motherboards 2710 AIO being unreliable. I saw an ad on the forums of Dell from a guy who said Dell Tech Support replaced its motherboard 2710 five times. I see that some of these motherboards are selling on eBay for around $200. I'm toying with the idea of getting a. I watched the service manual for the 2710 and I'm pretty confident that I could replace the Board of Directors.

Someone had experience with permutation on their motherboard on a 2710 AIO? Or someone has any ideas on what could be the problem with my son's computer? I appreciate all the advice/help anyone could offer.

OK, I have removed all the RAM from the motherboard (there were two sticks) and unplug the connector on the SATA hard drive. Then I turned on the machine and got two beeps very strong, but still no video on the screen indicating any form of activity of the POST. The sound signals have been first sounds I've ever heard during the procedure of boot on this machine. I put the RAM back in and re-connected the SATA cable. The way he has been, no video, no post, no beeps. I'm a bit at a loss for what I've decided, this means that the motherboard works technically and that another device on the machine is at the origin of the problem? Have I reason to assume that if I hear two beeps, then I should have the certainty that the motherboard was bad? Given that this a sound signal, the solution becomes cloudy, I guess. I can't help but feel that somehow the BIOS on the computer is damaged. Don't quite know how that could happen, however, because I have not updated the BIOS in over a year. I don't remember what BIOS version I have, but he had been working well for a year with no problems. Thanks for any other help/suggestions you can provide.

  • Can I transfer my Windows 7 Starter to my office in the Tower?

OK, so I want to know if it is possible for me to install my Windows 7 Starter netbook on my XPS Gen 4 computer (which is currently under XP) and transfer the license on with her. I know that the starter is a Lite version, but I do not have too much more that a new start for my dying computer until I update. I never use my netbook so he gets absolutely no use.

    Hello

Netbooks come with Windows 7 Starter Edition preinstalled (Acer, Asus, etc.) and are therefore an OEM license.

OEM licenses are not transferable to another machine.

OEM licenses are tied to the first machine that they are installed on OEM license dies when dies of this machine.

    See you soon.

  • Product key not working only not for the upgrade from Windows 7 starter to win 10

I have two Asus EEEPCs came with Windows 7 Starter.  The product key is on the bottom of the devices.  And they are completely legible.   4 years ago by ish and over the years the installations of Windows crashed, one of them, I installed Linux, the other, I played a bit with the installation of Android.  Today, I have upgraded to Windows 10 for each of them, wipe the disk and did a full install from USB.  One of them was perfectly, the second installation won't take the period key, the product license.  I even tried to change the characters only TWO that could be incorrect due to friction vs O Q and still nothing.   is there a way to send an image of the product key to Microsoft and someone to tell me what the heck is wrong with it?

  • Windows 7 Starter to Professional or Windows 8 Pro?

Hello. I have a series netbook Sony Vaio W (VPCW210AL) with a 1.67 GHz intel Atom CPU 450, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive on a Windows 7 Starter 32 bit OS. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8. Is this possible? Will recommend you it? I use the netbook mainly for work while traveling. Starter does not satisfy me. Windows anytime upgrade does not work for me since I live in the Mexico. According to 8 Windows anytime upgrade, which I downloaded from Microsoft, I can install Windows 8 Pro, but there are three issues that concern me: 1) I won't be able to boot the machine in safe mode, if I had to (I've never had to). 2) there is a problem with Microsoft Security Essentials (I'm not terribly concerned about this). AND (3) there is a problem with my Bluetooth of WIDCOMM software, the wizard will not tell me what the problem is, he only directs me to the site. This last issue is one that concerns me. I like my netbook, I saw them running under Linux pretty well, but I want to stay with Windows for now. Should I get Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 a disc from a local store and install it without fear of the unknown that happens? I'd appreciate your advice. Thank you! -Jorge.  P.S.: so poorly set up an account to post this a question!

I personally recommend that you improve this Netbook to Windows 7 Professional instead of Windows 8, mainly for technical reasons.

    Netbooks aren't friendly Windows 8.

A new element of Windows 8 is the requirement that type metro applications have a minimum screen resolution 1024 x 768 and 1366 x 768 for the component feature snap-in. If you try to launch a Metro style app with less of this resolution (800 x 600, 1024 x 600), you will receive an error message.

Most Netbooks do not go above 1024 x 768

Will recommend you it? I use the netbook mainly for work while traveling. Starter does not satisfy me. Windows anytime upgrade does not work for me since I live in the Mexico.

I would recommend that you purchase a license of Windows 7 Professional upgrade and use the product key with Anytime Upgrade in Windows 7 Starter to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional.

Where can I still get Windows 7?

    Version upgrade-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional upgrade

According to 8 Windows anytime upgrade, which I downloaded from Microsoft, I can install Windows 8 Pro, but there are three issues that concern me: 1) I won't be able to boot the machine in safe mode, if I had to (I've never had to).

Windows 8 can start safe mode by repeatedly pressing F8 before Windows 8 load when you start your Netbook. You can also start it by pressing the Windows key + I > change PC settings > General

    2) there is a problem with Microsoft Security Essentials (I'm not terribly concerned about this).

Windows 8 comes with Windows Defender built in which is the successor to Security Essentials, as well as other security features such as Smart Screen Filter.

AND (3) there is a problem with my Bluetooth of WIDCOMM software, the wizard will not tell me what the problem is, he only directs me to the site.

If the driver is compatible with Windows 7, what you can do is to just reinstall the driver after completing Setup of Windows 8. It's just that sometimes the devices interfere with the Windows installation.

This last issue is one that concerns me. I like my netbook, I saw them running under Linux pretty well, but I want to stay with Windows for now. Should I get Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 a disc from a local store and install it without fear of the unknown that happens?

If I had the choice, I'd go with Windows 7 Professional, works better and will be supported until 2020.

I'd appreciate your advice. Thank you! -Jorge.  P.S.: so poorly set up an account to post this a question!

  • NB300 - Windows 8 start problems

I have recently installed windows 8 on my Toshiba NB300 and everytime I turn on the computer with the power button, the computer turns off a few seconds later.

Only on the second attempt Windows 8 starts normally, giving me the indication of an error.
This happens the first time I turn on my computer with the power button.

I appreciate your help to solve the described problem behind.

    Hello

How did you install the 8 Win?
You've improved the Win 7 to 8 Win or you did a clean installation?

It might be possible that some pre-installed drivers or tools are not compatible with Win 8 and therefore, there is a problem when starting.

  • People think the Windows 7 Starter

Think all of Windows 7 Starter edition which is preloaded on netbooks? Most of the people are the Home premium upgrade and if so how does perform on netbooks?

    Hello

In my opinion it s based on that what you do with your laptop. I mean you need to install many applications on other versions of Windows 7 too and if you only use the laptop for Internet and I think that Windows 7 Starter is sufficient.

In addition it s a good idea the different versions of Windows 7. So you can save money if you don't need all the features.

  • I need a link for windows 7 starter 32 bit X 16-96078

    I need a link for windows 7 starter 32 bit X 16-96078. If possible!

    Hello

HP do not offer a download for the recovery media option, but there are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement of the recovery media using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 you can use the following method to create your own Windows 7 Starter 32-bit installation media.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can still read all the key character product activation 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create Windows 7 installation yourself using another PC. However, it not there no download directly available for Windows 7 Starter, so you'll need to download another version (one will do, but the link below is for Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit - the source of the image is Digital River).

    Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit SP1.

For the key on your label of COA to work, you must now use the method described in the following link to convert this ISO to an all-version Installer - the section that require you to edit the ISO is Step 1 DVD universal (although you will create an installer from usb, the method to change the ISO is the same).

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/85813-Windows-7-universal-installation-disc-create.html

Once done, use an application like Rufus to create a bootable Windows 7 usb flash drive.

Use the Flash drive to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA in the request and one time Setup is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

You may need for your laptop, software and additional pilots are in entering either the complete model number or Nr here.

    Kind regards

  • How downgrade from Windows 7 Starter to assessment Preview of Windows 8 consumer

I have a HP Mini, #ABA WH860UA provided with Windows 7 Starter. I installed Windows 8 consumer Preview copy evaluation about 8 months ago and tried to get it back to Win 7 since. Now, I get messages my liscense expires in a few days. Is there a link somewhere that will let me download Windows 7 Starter, if I have my product key?

Everything THAT wants me to 'upgrade' to Win 8 Pro. Thank you, but no. My Mini cannot hold. I want to just 7 starter return.

    Help?

BTW... I'm the 'poor' poor rich man... My mini will be a paper weight large format, if I can't find a link to download from.

You'd be better off using a disk win 7 of someone you know and make a copy for future use.

I hope that you realize that a download of this size is more than 3 GB in size.

Its more easy and faster to borrow an and use your key.

  • How to rebuild the Windows 7 start menu?

Having had a virus and deleted successfully, I find myself with a strange problem.

The virus, among other things, seems to have changed the menu start removing the 'pinned' programs is not a problem, but also remove the contents of the folders in "all programs", for example under "Microsoft Office" is a subfolder called "office tools" (empty), but nothing else.
All programs are always there and the work that they are not available on the start menu. There must be a way to rebuild this menu without having to reinstall each of the very many pieces of software on the computer.

    Suggestions welcome.

Common to all users start menu is C:\users\all users\microsoft\windows\start menu.
For each menu C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\Microsoft\window s\start user.
By default, these are hidden files.
Open Windows Explorer and create shortcuts, copy, paste etc.

A search not pulled up this [http://softzilla.blogspot.com/2011/04/free-windows-7-context-menu-editor.html] no idea if it is of no use

  • NB550D - upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to professional

    Dear all,

I recently bought a Toshiba NB550D and must update the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Pro. I tried the (preinstalled) Anytime Upgrade Assistant level, but this does not work. I'm stuck in the wizard because - as he says - "you may need to change the language settings or locale to purchase Windows Anytime Upgrade online". I learned that in order to use anytime upgrade regional settings must be identical to those of the country where your billing address. For me, this country is Switzerland, everything must be in German.

The problem is, the installation of Windows 7 Starter still uses English as 'Display language' and this cannot be changed after installation. I tried to roll back the installation but there is no other possible choice, it is always English. All other regional and language settings can be changed.

    My questions:
-Are there a way to force the display of Windows 7 Starter language to German (whether before or after the initial installation)?
-Are there a way to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro, work around the problem, for example by using a different approach of the wizard at any time to upgrade?
D ' other suggestions that might help?

    Thank you
    GG

    Hey Buddy,

It depends of the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter. If Windows 7 Starter has been pre-installed in the English language only an upgrade to an English version of Windows 7 Professional is possible. So that you can t upgrading English to German for example, this is why you have to buy a new version of Windows 7.

So either you buy a new version of Windows 7 Professional in German, or you upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. The Ultimate version offers MUI (Multilingual User Interface).

  • CD/DVGW SN - S082D question - Windows cannot start this hardware device Code 19

I've had my laptop for a little over a year now and it's had its fair share of problems, which most is repairable or there is a solution.
Earlier today, I inserted a disc in the drive and tried it opens, went into "My Computer" and find the disk was not displayed.

It's happened a couple times and a simple reboot fixes the problem.
I rebooted twice and this time, that the problem was not fixed, after going in 'Device Manager', I found there was a problem with the device and he gave me the following error message

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. »

As usual "search for the solutions" is useless and doesn't return any results.
Thanks in advance for any response.

First of all, I wonder why you post this here in the Toshiba forum if you don t have a Toshiba laptop
It's a little strange for me... anyway I'll try to help you.

It seems that the registry keys are corrupt and so your CD/DVD drive does not work properly.

Just try the proposed solution mentioned here in the doc of Microsoft:

    Hello

It's not easy to use the repair mode because the recovery image file CD. The other way is that you try to start the operating system is the safe mode and look if the lack of files exist in the C:\I386 folder. If not, well I think that the only way is to recover the system with the recovery CD.
