    ·         What operating system is installed on your computer?

    OK, here is the resolution:

Under Printer Mfg., Microsoft (and game associate XPS driver) are defined in Windows 7 only, which is what tetraethyle3 noticed. However, it has never included in XP & earlier operating systems. The solution for these OS is as follows:

    1. Add a generic printer (for example an HP Laserjet 4);
    2. change the type of port to a Port of XPS (local port)
    3. no need to define it as the default printer.

The problem of XPS printer driver missing for all software platforms dependent it should now be resolved. This method turned away from adding a printer at random was the only method considered correctly install or reinstall a missing or corrupted driver XPS problem.

    Shekar,

Thanks a lot for the answer of the year.  After reviewing your suggestion, I did further investigation and found that the problem seems to be related to the fact that FIREFOX is my default browser.  Very briefly, when you attempt to print to the FIREFOX WARNING saying that the file is a FILE XPS one of asking "FIREFOX HOW can" by selecting the option 'OPEN' the system asked me to choose what program to use and when I choose C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\XPSVIEWER he returned to the "FIREFOX HOW can" with the file window.

However, WHEN I OPEN THE FILE using INTERNET EXPLORER (7), the file opens, and I can print with my default system printer.

I'm waiting for your answer before be displayed as "ANSWERED" thank you once again with the year

XPS Document Writer create the *.xml to aid Microsoft Open XML Paper Specification files.  This is the format of Microsoft 'electronic paper' developed as an 'alternative' in Adobe pdf format.

I agree, it's a bit lame, especially given that few people have actually downloaded the necessary XPS document viewer that is required to view the files created by the XPS Document Writer, but there is no real need to remove it.

However, if you really want to get rid of it (there may be a few minor remains), follow these steps:

    1. Open Printers and faxes
    2. Right-click on the icon for the XPS Document Writer and select Remove
    3. In printers and faxes, click file > server properties
    4. Click the tab drivers
    5. Select Microsoft XPS Document Writer, and then click on remove
    6. OK your way out and close printers and faxes

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community!
You have reached the right forum for your question.

    1. what happens when you try to print?
    2. you receive an error message?
    3. What is the brand and model of the printer?

    Method 1:
You can try the steps in the link and check.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/printer-problems-in-Windows

    Method 2:
You can temporarily disable the antivirus on the computer and check if you are able to print.
NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks

    Method 3:
You can uninstall and reinstall the wireless printer and check.
Check out the link and check.

  • Microsoft XPS document writer SNAFU

I can create and save a XPS document but cannot open it to see.  Operating system is MS Windows XP SP3.   MS .NET Framework 3.0 has been downloaded. Not sure it's important but my Google Chrome Internet browser.  Any suggestions?

XPS documents open with Internet Explorer. Set your default browser to IE.

Open Internet Options, tab programs, default web browser, click make default.

You can still use Google Chrome for browsing the web.

    Or change the file extension:

Go to: panneau Panel configuration, folder, File Types tab Options, scroll to XPS and click to highlight, click on edit and select XPSViewer.exe or Internet Explorer, click OK

  • Microsoft XPS Document Writer

    Hello community:

I try to use the Microsoft XPS Document Writer, which came with Windows Ultimate.  When I press the "print" button, it brings up a dialog box stating "save under" and he doesn't let me go forward with an impression.  I don't understand this.  I then use a Dell Photo printer, I used with Windows Vista Home Premium until I upgraded to Windows Ultimate and no problems with printing.  Can anyone help?

    Hello Hoadley.

The XPS Document Writer is a type of virtual printer used for the creation of XPS files.  If you click on where it says XPS Document Writer, in the print page, you should get a list of printers on your system.  The Dell printer should be listed, select that one and print here.

You can change the default by going to Panel-> hardware and printers-> printers.

  • Cannot open the XPS Documents in Vista 64-bit

I have Windows 64 - bit Vista Home Premium installed on my computer.

I need to access an XPS document that an employee sent as an attachment, but the file is asking me to choose an application, even when the XPS Viewer is defined as the default opening program.

I already double checked that the XPS Viewer is active.

    I've been on this site,

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/967190

The site reportedly has a fix for 64-bit with this problem, but the problem seems to be specific for .net 3.5 SP1. My computer says I have .net 3.0 SP2, that article mentions. The article, however, does not seem to indicate that the fix will work for 3.0 SP2. It seemed unclear to me on this issue

    So, two questions:

If I have installed the fix, it works in SP2, or just the SP1,

Is it still my problem first?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

If you do not. NEt Framework 3.5 SP1 installed, the patch at this link does not work and you said that you only. NEt 3.0 SP2.  You need to install .NET framework 3.5 SP1 before you can try this difficulty.  Here is the download site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&DisplayLang=en.  Simply follow the instructions and to do it properly.

Once you have. NEt Framework 3.5 SP1 installed and running, you can then try the fix that you posted in this link to fix the problem with the opening of XPS documents.

Frankly, I don't know if this is your problem or the fix will fix it (but it might).  It coud be a problem with the e-mail program (what name and version you use)?  It could also bee a problem with Excel.

For any other question about Excrl issues, please post in the Excel section of the Office of the Discussion Group at: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.excel.misc&lang=en&cr=US where experts in Excel will be more than happy to help you with your problems.

    I hope this helps.

  • Impression on XPS Document Writer does not record anything

When I try to print in XPS Document Writer, nothing is saved.  The dialog box appears asking you where I want to save it.  I select the folder, type a name and save it, but nothing is written.  There is no error message or anything. It is enough to save.  I tried several different applications (Firefox, IE, Word, Wordpad), but this does not seem to matter.

One note, however, is that I can successfully print/save a test page to the printer (which makes it even more strange) properties.

    I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    * edit * I also tried to remove the device and add it again.  It does not either.

After seeing your post, I decided to revisit this issue.  Apparently I've solved it.  My problem was that the files I tried to save to have full control to administrators, but not by my user explicitly.  To test this, I ran Firefox as an administrator, and I was able to save/print the XPS document.  This obviously isn't the most secure solution, so I just added my name explicitly under the Security tab for my home folder and propagate the changes down.  It seems that I can now save without problem (and run it as an administrator).

It's not really make sense to me, since I belonged to the admin group.  It seems that the Windows UAC at least inspire you or something.  In any case, it's working for me now.  Hope that helps you.
