XR - 10 GB - SR replaceable hot

I have a 4507R-E.  10GE slots 3 and 4 have Sup 6 L - E (X 2) supervisor, 1000BaseX modules (SFP) installed.

This device is powered in a production environment.  Documentation does not explicitly specify if we can install X 2 - 10 GB - SR GBIC into the uninhabited GBIC slots on the Sup 6 L - E, while the power is on.

So I think as the GBIC slots are not configured and are uninhabited.

Someone at - it had harmful effects by installation X 2 - 10 GB - SR GBIC in the empty slots of Sup6L-E on a live production camera?

Yes they are hot-swappable. Deletion and insertion online is supported. The only affect on the rest of the device is that because of the connection or the removal of the interface (routing or convergence tree etc.).

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 with Exchange of HDD replaceable hot backup?

I have a server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 with 4 exchangeable to hard drives hot.  3 250 GB disks and configured in RAID 5.  The 4th 1 TB hard drive and used for the backup.  With capabilities to warm the intention was to use the 4th hard drive as a player traded for backup purposes, put the inactive disks in a vault without danger for the security and protection.  Unfortunately I was able to configure Windows backup software to recognize the multiple backup drives.

I hope that someone is aware of this problem and knows how to solve.  If yes I would appreciate to hear your solution.

  • Double channel FP - TC problem

Hi, we have a problem with the FP-TC-J module, sometimes to the point of field is not perceived (MAX Returns a message "one or more specified attributes either do not exist..")

The first time I try to move the module and this work very well, I corrected the module and work.

The next day, the module have the same problem, I try to move without good results, we try to change the location of the module, but say MAx is not possible (seems this module is not known by the system).

My question is how is possible whether the module is bad?

    Thanks for replying.

    Hi Nicola,

the FP-TB-10 is designed to restart whenever it detects a new two-channel module since they are replaceable hot (quick flash of the indicator light). If there is an empty spot next to a module dual channel (a module HERE or AO and TC), FP-TB-10 Terminal Base may incorrectly detect that module dual channel. Since you have also two digital module, you can put the digital module next to the empty housing and see if that fixes the problem.

I would like to know if it works.

    Best regards

  • Upgrade SSD or hybrid to my T510

    Hi all

I am considering upgrading my hard drive to my old T510 to 2 years since my original 300 GB drive fills

I am considering getting an ssd or a Seagate hybrid drive, but I'm not sure.

I want a faster startup time and improved performance. Right now it takes more than a minute to boot the system and sometimes seconds to load a large multimedia site. However, I also need big storage because I need a windows and linux dual system and a little store a few movies and a lot of music in the laptop. Because I don't want to replace my DVD with a second hdd, I hesitate between the SSD and hybrid.

I was wondering if any of you have tried the hybrid drive on Thinkpad. How does perform? And anyone who tries it with a dual system? I'm a little worried the dual-boot will mess up with the ssd 6 GB limited is part of the hybrid drive, since it is so little space for both systems and management becomes much more complicated with two totally different file system.

Also if I would go with an ssd, any recommendations? I looked at Samsung 830, Intel 520 and Crucial m4, all are good, but the problems that they are all SATA III, while my T510 support only SATA II. A bit of waste. But all the SATA II ssd seems just outdated and with older technology.

    Thanks a lot guys!

Yes... need you the ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay adapter III.

The reference is 43N3412 detailed here. More information about the adapter here (PS: photo shows one IDE connector that is false.) Someone needs to update this image).

The Bay adapter is hot in that you can safely remove the material at any time & eject your T510 adapter using the physical button under the chassis. I like the provision of better eject buttons on the first series of T.

    • Fiber Channel Flex Module e/s, with 4xDell, networking, transceiver, SFP +, CF, 150M, SW, FIN

  • RAID 1 or 10

Hello, I was put in charge two servers that use RAID, but I'm not too knowledgeable about RAID. Above all I am looking for peace of mind.
As I understand it, RAID 1, and 10 have fault tolerance and a disk can be replaced if she have questions. We have a Dell Poweredge 1800 with hardware RAID1 and another server Dell running RAID10 via CentOS software.
    Thanks in advance.
    (1) my main concern now is this: If a disk fails and I replace it, automatically know which drive is the new? I wouldn't have to replace the existing drive with a new empty and will end up with nothing. This server is not replaceable hot, so I won't have a choice but to turn off it if/when I replace the drive.
    (2) if my RAID card fails and I have to get a new one, should be the same model? It automatically detect the disks and I everything works automatically?

    1. the controller will indicate which drive has failed.

    2. you need a similar controller.

Keep in mind however, RAID is redundant - it is NOT backup.  For a case where two disks don't (or damaged), or the failure of the RAID controller. a backup - separated from the system - is absolutely necessary.

Do not rely on the RAID of ANY type of backup.

  • Synchronize the PowerEdge T320 SATA 3GBPs single speed

Hi, I have a week old T320 with controller RAID H310 delivered with 2 x 1 TB SATA disks replaceable hot (s.3 - Reference Dell Constellation: 0T4XXN, Seagate ST100NM0033).

The sync rate max - as stated in the BIOS H310 and the lifecycle of the controller is 3Gbps. The RAID H310 map is a map of 6 GB/s that came out in recent years and are these disks SATA 6 GB/s (according to the data sheet of the Seagate)

I talked to Dell 'support', and they said that they had no speed specified in the documentation of the disc, so they did not know (!).

Dell is still actually delivered 3GBPs readers - i.e. special gradient firmware?

They suggested that I talk to sales to change the drives I - but what for? SAS would be an expensive option for sure and if 'support' don't know the specs of their own parties what is sales are going to do.

    Any ideas?

For anyone interested, I was correct - Dell hinder their SATA 6GBPs drives up to 3GBPS, and have done since 2009. Apparently, it's a deliberate policy, as they had problems with some servers at the time using specifications SATA III-, but its silly to keep this policy more than 5 years later.

If no server generation 12 - e.g. T320 - don't comes with disks SATA 6GBPs despite the fact that the 'same' exact drive model bought because say OEM Seagate s.3 works thankfully to 6 Gbps. Dell simply artificially degraded performance in their firmware.

With gen 13 servers there is now a * choice * SATA speed - but why?, why same still power SATA II drives to a new server? -at least I know now what is the question.

  • How to install a driver after you turn off the auto-update

I disabled auto-update Windows Update drivers by following the instructions in the following article:

It was due to the update of Windows Installer drivers on top of my existing bluetooth drivers and prevent the unit to work. I had to reinstall Windows to solve this, UN-installing then the installation of the Dell printer drivers did not work.
I just bought a Freecom 2 to drive that connects via eSATA. Unfortunately, the instructions say that I don't need to install drivers because Windows will do it automatically! Ugh.
I am reluctant to turn to the auto-update as it will probably destroy bluetooth again. So the question is: How can I install Freecom drivers and the problem of bluetooth do not breed take the risk?
Note: Looking at the dialog box "want you Windows to download the driver software? ' there is an option to" install the driver software from Windows Update if it does not appear on my computer.
Well well... driver Dell bluetooth software is on my computer (the software to install, it is on my C: drive and it is also installed) so not preventing him to get the version of Windows Update? I am concerned about the confidence that, given that the driver has been installed also the last time he downloaded the MS driver (although the auto-update feature was turned on at that time here). I'm afraid to think that the Dell driver's oldest (who is) and so he gets crushed.
    Thanks in advance.

"the fact that the manual says that he needs a driver to be"automatically installed by the operating system"suggests that... he needs Windows Update."

    (1) while I don't have an external HARD drive in a box I have a case of a slot for external e-SATA replaceable hot which is about the same as a commercial external HDD, but without the box.
When I plug in a HARD drive into the slot in Windows automatically detects the drive.
Windows should automatically install the drivers for basic/generic for most of the devices when it detects something new just to be attached/connected. Once Windows did, this 'device' must be posted from there on.
This is not the same thing as let the Windows updates to install the drivers.

So, when you plug in the external hard drive on e-SATA port, the first time Windows pops up a similar message to-"new device detected... the driver installation, you can check if the device is detected and drivers are installed by going to computer management > Device Manager to see if your external HARD drive is on the list of hard drives."
If non - R / click on hard drives and click "search physical changes.
There is also an option here to update the drivers.

You are quite correct disable optional updates.
It is not a recommended option, especially for the graphics drivers and chipset.
Personally, if the mfg of the material provides drivers on their website always download and install the drivers manually.
As a result of that it is prudent to updated Windows configuration only updates are available so you can choose which you want to install and choose to install it on your own time inform.
This way you can close applications and browsers and better to avoid the possibility of corruption updated leaving the priority update. It is also
more course with a clean install of Windows to start with sp1, and then do the other updates in small batches.

    2. when the HARD drive is connected and recognized in the Device Manager are moving
for the computer management > disk management. This shows the good
    for HARD drive capacity?
If the HARD drive has only a small partition and unallocated space that is perhaps why only a small capacity is shown elsewhere.  You can format the HARD drive and
create a new Partition or Partitions here.

  • Replacing the T410 Raid 5 SAS HD showing "predictive failure notification.

I have a server poweredge T410 which has 2 virtual drives, a Raid 1 mirrored VD and a Raid 5 VD (consists of 4 hard disks from 146 GB SAS).  There is no replaceable parts hot.  The physical disk 1:0:5 began to show "next failure (2094 reporting error) in OMSA so I know I need to replace this drive."  Readers that seem to be replaceable hot, but I want to make sure I follow the proper procedure by replacing the drive, that I've never done this before.  Can someone please confirm that the following steps are correct?

In OMSA, I'm going to ' storage '-' virtual disks' -' physical disks ", and on disk 5 (the one with the predicted failure) select"offline"under 'Tasks', and then run hit.  Then, I open the collar and wait for hard drives lights to stop flashing.  Remove the disc 1:0:5 and put in the replacement drive.  Then, in OMSA go to "Storage"-"Virtual disks" and select "Assign/Unassign dedicated Hot Spare" in the menu tasks to the bottom and click on 'run '.  What I read, the reader should automatically start rebuilding at that time and that should be all that it is him, correct?  If I missed anything or whatever it is listed wrong, someone please let me know.  I read in other posts of people getting BSODS and crash there servers because they have missed something and I really want to avoid that.

Also, this swap can and must occur while the server is online, correct?

What controller RAID do you have?  A BSOD is NOT normal and indicates another problem.

If the drive does not start rebuilding automatically, you need to affect whether a relief to start reconstruction.  If the disk is initially as 'strangers', it first must be CLEARED before that you can assign as a hot spare.

  • PowerEdge 2900 III Aftermarket HDD Upgrade

Anyone had any experience using the original hot swappable SATA drive door with spare SATA drives?

I'm looking to get a lot of space on the disk from the cheapest possible. Thanks to Dell accessories, a 160 GB SATA replaceable hot Cust. Kit is listed at $65.99. What I want to do is to replace the 160 GB drive with say a Western Digital 500 GB RE2 SATA drive or more. It's far cheaper, and then you place your order the bigger disks directly from dell with the server or after the initial purchase by parts and accessories.

All disks in the system will be configured with RAID 1 via the Perc 6 / i

  • External storage accessible via a cable SFF-8088

After placing an order (but not yet received) to an Areca ARC - 1880ix - 12 RAID card and after reviewing my internal computer layout and storage capacity needs, I begin to realize the external storage is necessary.

AREC have a CRA-4036 model, which is quite expensive but would be enough for a long time.  See http://www.areca.us/products/6gsasjbod.htm

I hope some of you can give me another (cheaper) solution?

    See you soon,.

    Michael

    Michael,

I prefer to get readers in the main folder of the PC mainly for two reasons:

    (1) cost; as you have already seen that external drive well done solutions are expensive

    (2) low noise + good cooling

There are a few excellent designs case not replaceable hot on now that have big, slow rotating fans and discs apart with a lot of physical space between them (i.e. Cooler Master HAF - X) to be held 5 or 6 first hard drives (disks 3.5 ").

Supermicro CSE-M35T-1 b is affordable and VERY well build cage hot which contains 5 additional disks and uses only 3 bays (Bay 5.25 "gap road); the fan provided is a NOISY quality of server fan, you should plan on the Exchange on the included fan 92mm with a quieter version. I currently use one of them with a GELID fan who built in the thermal speed and global configuration command. There are at least a few designs dealing with 12 bays on the front of the case, then you can use these to hold 15 drives and still have 3 bays flying over!

There are some really well made case out there that have a large number of berries. For example, Guru wrong on this forum uses a large case of Lian-li who holds 17 discs! I think his model (PC-A77B) is hard to find, but the web site of Lian-li has a variety of large, well built designs that have massive hard drive capacities.

What case do you currently use and how many discs will you use?

You HAVE to stick with your current business, or at least some aspects of the case (i.e. height/width/depth, requirement of rack mount, etc.)?

  • PowerEdge R805 - Replaceable HD hot

    I have a PowerEdge R805, which shows a lack of HD (E1810).

What is the best way to determine if the drives are hot-swappable?

There are two (2) disks on the server - I guess they are mirrored and replaced once the mirror will be rebuilt automatically.

They are.  If the disks are on a bottom of basket and accessible from the front of the machine, they are exchangeable hot.  Hot disks are the only option on a R805.

As a general rule, the reader will rebuild automatically, but if not, then you must assign as a hot spare to start reconstruction.

  • iPhone 7 - 10.0.2 - would not connect to wifi - got hot - DEATH

I have an iphone brand new 7 (black) who has not seen a bump, the knock, the drop of water, or frankly anything that could damage it - always used with Chargers apple and cables only. I came home one day and noticed that my wifi woulndt connect. He would not even see the networks. The phone started to get hot and the battery percentage began to collapse, down 80% to 0% in about 15 minutes.

When I tried to reconnect to the power, it will not even turn on, nothing, no display showing load or anything like that. Just completely dead.

Ive owned every single iphone (except some S models) and have never had this happen. In fact, I could plug in my iphone 3gs right now and I'd be willing to bet $100 it load up and turn right into. Im just stunned, having given apple credit both for making bulletproof devices for years.

What's the deal? anyone else having this problem? Ive looked online and I can't find anything. I have a genius appt tomorrow and Im prayer I can get a replacement same day. I have applecare +.

    Thank you

    George

If there is something wrong with the device, Apple should replace it. However, they have the final call, and no one here can say exactly what they will do. Given the age of the unit, I suspect that you won't have problems getting a replacement. They should have stock for replacements. I wouldn't worry.
