  You use a Dell OEM SLP key on a hp computer. It would never work.

Where can I buy just the key I have already a DVD I burned the ISO to? The Windows store tries to Win 8 push the back of my neck, but I've heard bad things about 8.

  Unfortunately, you need a license, you must purchase the package in a box, only Microsoft sold the product key and they never do.

  You can make your purchase and rearm your installation in trial mode until you get the package.

  Click Start, type: cmd

  Right-click on CMD

  Click on run as administrator

  At the command prompt, type:

  slmgr.vbs - rearm

  Press enter

  You can do this up to 3 times which will extend your use for a total of 180 days.

  That should give you enough time to what you receive the full package:

  Right, the rule is quite clear. It is a copy (or a license) for
  each computer.

  There is nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that has been in
  effect on all versions of Windows from at least with Windows 3.1.

  You don't need the key. If you do a clean install and install this version, you have gotten with the free update, simply click ignore when asked to enter a key. It will install and activate with the digital right, that you got when you did the initial upgrade. No key is needed now.
