Your instructions to set up Firefox Sync are faulty.

I clicked the menu button and everything ago under "Developer" is my email (JMARKSCHWARTZ at GMAIL dot COM) address. There is no "sign in to Sync. Your "Note" States that "If you don't see a sync item in the menu, you are connected to the old version of Sync." Then, there is a link titled "How to upgrade to the new Firefox Sync." I clicked on this link and found an instruction to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox. Well, I already have the latest version of Firefox, 33.0.1 on my 8.1 of Windows, computer laptop 64 bit. So, what gives? You you please let me know how can I synchronize all my favorites and homepage of my new Surface Pro 3. I already downloaded and installed the same version of Firefox on Surface Pro 3. Thank you.

It might take an hour or two for the initial synchronization to complete when you "add new device" to an existing synchronization account. On one occasion, it took an hour even when I wasn't syncing the Add-ons. And regarding the settings or preferences for Add-ons, it is rare that they are in sync, unless that particular developer add-on included this feature in their add-on.

Just give it more time.

I downloaded Firefox for my new android phone and wanted to sync my office with the mobile app. When I went it said I had an account already set in place, but since I don't remember the information about this I just ended up changing the password so I could identify and then deleted the entire account.

I have advanced and set up a new sync account, but he never gave me a recovery key. I don't think not that anything like that, but then the failure of the initial synchronization and I got an error message indicating the user name or password is incorrect.

This happened twice and every time I went back and was over by resetting the password or deleting the whole account. But whenever I have go through the steps of creating another account never gave me a recovery key.

I looked around and I tried following the steps to get a recovery key, but I don't have the ability to manage my account (perhaps because it was never entirely created and never went through an initial synchronization?) and I get an error message indicating the user name and password is incorrect, whenever I try to go through the steps to reset the recovery key. This is despite the fact that I can connect with the same credentials on the page of Firefox sync - for some reason any he just does not accept the normal browser sync tab.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium and 13.0.1 Firefox version. No matter what help you can give me would be most appreciated as this has been driving me crazy for the last hours I'm trying to work through this.

    Hello

Please see this for more details about the recovery key. You can also try to start over again using these steps (three parts): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync

If you are able to connect to the synchronization site which means the account still exists. In this case, you can try to delete the account, wait a few minutes and then try to configure the synchronization as described in the previous link.

  • Cannot set up firefox sync easily on behalf of different funds (non-mobile)

It seems almost impossible to set up firefox Sync. I try to use the synchronization so that my experience of Firefox is consistent between accounts on the same machine (IE Firefox in Windows and OSX - I'm under bootcamp on Macbook Pro). I'm not trying to use it for synchronization between desktop computers and a mobile device, which is the way Sync seems to be configured. Is it possible or I was deceived into thinking Sync can synchronize accounts Office betweem. I installed an account, but I can't use it because of the need to enter a few characters to pair a device I don't want to do. I just want to backup and sync my adds & history so why do I need a mobile device for it? If please put me out of my agony and tell me if synchronization it will be or not, and how I put it to the top (without any reference to a mobile device).

OK, right, I solved my problem. I decided to just try to delete the account and start again. Fortunately, the deletion occurred immediately which meant that I could set up the new account. Everything I needed was someone say, just delete the account. This is the solution for this problem, if anyone is interested. I must say that this configuration of the synchronization is a poor real hash that has not been clearly thought through. So I say that it is a complete failure to Mozilla. In this regard, chrome is so much better and easier to use.

  • I want to set up Firefox sync from scratch using an account I own which shows as 'already underway use'.

I had a problem with my old Firefox Sync account (from work, using my work email address) and I want to implement synchronization using my personal account. When I try to set up synchronization, my only options seem to be "Create new account" or "I have an account". If I select Create a new account, I'm stuck because technically the account has already been used (I've set up Sync a few years before using my account personal but never used), even if it is not in use on any of my machines. If I select I have an account, he wants me to synchronize the device with a new one, but I don't have a second to synchronize. I want to use my existing account to set up the synchronization from scratch on my main machine. How can I get this done?

on another note: firefox 29 that will be released at the end of the month will use a different account system (not compatible with the current accounts of sync), then it might not be useful effort setting a synchronization with the old powers now: synchronize your bookmarks from Firefox, history, passwords, etc.

  • Can I set up Firefox sync on Android Tablet?

I want to set up on the Android Tablet & synchronize on the 2nd Android tablet. Please tell us how to do this.

    Thank you.

You will need a Firefox Office set up an account unfortunately. This could be done on any computer can run Firefox. May be good to use http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable therefor. You will need to make sure you get all 3 bits of info from the configuration.

    • Synchronization user name
    • Password synchronization
    • Sync key

Then use the configuration options manual for Firefox Sync on your shelves.

  • Cannot set up firefox sync and do not add a device option

I am very frustrated. I spent a lot of time over the two days to try to understand how ocnfigure Firefox sync. Specifically, I'm trying to sync my iphone to my account. I downloaded two apps from the Apple App store, which are designed to allow me to do. When I opened both of these applications, they provide me an access code, which is divided into three sections, each containing 4 letter and or combinations of numbers, just that I see in all the articles designed to help me with this problem. However, I open my sync Dashboard and don't see ANY tab indicating 'Add a device', as the articles also say. If I click on the tab "I'm not near my computer" in applications (both seem to work identically) and ask me to enter my account and password synchronization of key information. I can't find an article anywhere and tells me that my sync key is or how to get it back if I forget ~! @!!!!!!!! Freaking please help me!

Applications in the Apple App Store are not Mozilla and maybe I won't work with Firefox as Firefox has now left for Firefox Sync account. Mozilla has not all the apps in the Apple app store 3rd parties may, however, they are not controlled by Mozilla.

  • Set up Firefox sync, reinstalled windows and now cannot get my synchronized data

I bought an SSD and a new HARD drive and I wanted to get a clean install of windows on the SSD. Before that, I synced Firefox, but now I can't get back my info. I was under the impression that Firefox sync could be used for this, but now it looks like I'm pretty damn good insofar as find all my favorites and passwords and things. I tried to go in Firefox sync and selecting that I lost my camera. It gives me a very long string of letters and of things and when I get to the area of the recovery key, he told me that every time, even when he puts stuff in there himself, it is wrong.

Firefox Sync is not a backup tool, it is only intended to synchronize the various facilities in Firefox with the same data.

  • Why the 'AccountDetails' window give me only backward, finishing, cancel the options when you try to create a Firefox Sync account and does not allow me to set up complete?

I'm trying to set up Firefox sync. I go to tools > configure sync.

I click on "create a new account. I have complete my account information. The only options I give at the bottom of the box are 'Back', 'End', 'Cancel '. There is no button "next". I click on "Finish" and the box disappears. "Even when I try to click on" Synchronization Options "nothing happens.

  • Set up a Firefox sync from a Firefox sync android office

I'll have set up Firefox sync on my desk (which I had to replace) having only one active sync Firefox on my Android tablet. I can't find a way to either insert the usual three four codes of characters pairing, or to recover the key synchronization for manually entering the office. Googling the problem, I found suggestions a year ago to use some plugins (the most recent is subject: synckey key) to display the key, but unfortunately they are no longer compatible with the new firefox (I use v17). So my question is: is it possible? Or shoud I get all my favorites from the Android device as long as I can and reset the sync account?

Use the menu accounts in android rather than system settings in the Firefox settings, it is different and has an option of coupling. (credits go to Nawak)

  • Firefox sync (Linux Mint 17.02)

Hey there! I tried to set up Firefox sync. Remove the .mozilla folder in my home directory synchronization does not work yet to reinstall Firefox several times. I tried to use Firefox 41.02 and 42.0.
The sync connection is successful and Firefox tries to sync (blue circle), but nothing happens. When you go to about: preferences #sync, then to 'Manage', it takes a while to load before you get an "unexpected error".
I'm trying to sync between my laptop and my desktop, the two Linux Mint 17.02.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

Your first journal suggests synchronization completed. It has a few warnings bookmark weird and disturbing, but otherwise it's okay.

Your second newspaper told me that you are on a network of Unitymedia.

    https://Bugzilla.Mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1118958

You must reduce your MTU, so it doesn't cut it connections.

Haven't you already set up Firefox Sync with a desktop version of Firefox? If so:

  • Connect another computer to Firefox Sync

I have Firefox Sync on my laptop main (COMP1) and I added my iPhone (DEVICE1). This configuration works very well.

Now, I have a new laptop (COMP2) and plan to retire COMP1.

What is the best approach to recreate my connection to COMP2 and Device1?

I tried to use this method, but do not think it will work once I have wipe ordi1:
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/how-do-i-set-up-Firefox-sync?redirectlocale=en-us & redirectslug=share-Bookmarks-Tabs-and-more-Your-Other-Computers#w_get-the-code-on-another-computer

    Steps followed:
Connect another computer to Firefox Sync

Follow these steps on the second computer you are trying to add to Firefox Sync.

At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button and select Set Up Sync. The Firefox Sync Setup window will open.
       Click I Have an Account.
Since you're not near the device with Sync already set up, click the I don't have the device with me link.
Sign in to your Sync account:
           Enter your account email address
           Enter your password
           Enter your Recovery Key
           Then click Next
You will see a Setup Complete screen. Click Finish to complete adding this device to your Sync account.

First of all, the various devices / computers don't connect to each other. It's a game Star connections; the synchronization server is the "hub" (lies in the middle) and each device / computer is a 'speak '.

What you have described is the way to go, but you forgot a step - Unlink (prefs sync) Comp 1 before you wipe the data from it! Or disconnect your network connection prior to erasure. Either of those who will avoid the changes that you make to ordi1 to be sent to the server, so no deletion of your synchronization had given from the server or other device when they connect on the synchronization server.

  • Unknown error when you try to configure Firefox Sync

I'm trying to set up Firefox Sync, but I fill my email address on the first line I first the message 'invalid email account' (or similar), but then when I continue to fill with [email protected] he says just "unknown error." I tried several different e-mail addresses on two different computers, but the same boring unknown error message keeps coming up.
What am I supposed to do about it?

You can try to reset the preferences of synchronization on the topic: config page.

Try creating a new profile as a test to check whether your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

  • Is it possible to recover deleted bookmarks in Firefox Sync?

I have reinstalled the operating system on my computer, operating systems installed as well as all instances of Firefox with Firefox Sync to wiping.

I installed Firefox on the new OS and set up Firefox sync using the recovery key. However, either because the device name was the same as previously (my bad), or it is also possible that I'm theoretically possible that I accidentally selected the option to erase all data on the server with one in my browser (which is none).

As a result, Firefox Sync signals that my favorites are now 6.1 KB - i.e. all my favorites have been removed.

(Since it is a new installation of the OS, I don't have access to one of the automated bookmark backups).

Is there a way to return to an earlier version of the server data?

No, there are no backups available - no earlier version of the server data.

  • I enter the code and it sends me to new Firefox Sync

I want to synchronize my desktop to my new laptop. I entered the code the two senses, computer laptop and desk laptop on the desktop, type, then the original Firefox Sync page returns to the top.
Directions say "see where I can find the code to add a device to Sync Firefox? For more information', it is not found.
    Help!

Hello, been using this article: How can I set up Sync on my computer?

Basically you must first create a sync (with address email and password) to a computer account (let's say your desktop).

Once you have done that, switch to your laptop, in options > sync click on "Set up firefox sync" & "I have an account" in the next step. then come back on your desktop and in options > sync click "associate a device" and enter the code 3 x 4 digits that appears on your laptop and confirms. That should do it...
