  I have an application that consists of two main voluntary initiatives.  The first VI (that the user never sees) called the VI of the user interface.

  I got hurt when the user wants to leave the VI of the user interface.  If I allow them to press the cross (X) in the corner of the window then the IU VI closes and leaves the appellant VI still running.  To work around this problem I only allow them to push an exit button on the front panel of the user interface.  He calls the Quit LabVIEW VI that stops the appellant and the user interface.  It's not very elegant, and there is a short flash of the appellant VI when I do it this way.
