The drive is recognized in Windows Vista. I updated the drives and rebooted. Then removed from devide Manager and rebooted. The removal of the UpperFilters and LowerFilters registry and restarted it again.

The problem is it exactly even. I can read a DVD (DVD movie) but not a CD (with data). I can read both disks on a different laptop.
When I insert the DVD, the disc spins and in few seconds it appears in windows Explorer and can be played with Windows Media Player or VLC, for example. When I insert a CD with the data, CD towers, there is slippage noises, at different speeds. The mouse cursor changes briefly shhowing a disc below it, the orange light flashes, but after some 40 seconds or so only a message appears "Please insert a readable disc. Needless to say, I tried several different CD. Only DVD movie I managed to read on the player.

What can I do to fix this?

    Hello

I think that there is not much to buddy
    I think that it s a CD/DVD drive problem
There might be something wrong with the lens of laser disk or disks are not totally compatible

You could try burning the disks on another computer and could attempt to read copied discs

Otherwise you will need a new CD/DVD drive

    Hi mate

Hmm. not easy to say if it could be a hardware problem
If the CD/DVD drive is able to manage the media inserted, then the material should be ok
You could try to look at this problem computer laptop for several days, and if you could not observe any improvement or if the sound is louder then, you should ask a notification service technician

    Good luck buddy

It seems that "Toshiba PC Health Monitor" is the reason for this strange noise rattling.

Disable the "Toshiba PC Health Monitor" in the msconfig Startup tab.
Uncheck the mark that appears near the PC health monitor and reboot the laptop.

  • Satellite A300D - 156 BIOS update failed - I need assistance with recovery

    Hello

I know it is old enough, but until now, it was just good enough for my use.
In any case, after I did a restore of the Windows Vista operating system came with my computer, I got a notification of one of the tools of Toshiba that an updated BIOS is available for my computer.
I downloaded and tried to perform an update. After that the process had finished (probably), the computer has not responded to the pad touchscreen and keyboard. I was not sure if the update really took place, especially because it looked like the computer has been is frozen. So I left it for the next +/-30 minutes, but no change.
So I decided to reset it as even the power button did not work. So I had to remove the battery and unplug the AC power.

... and the computer has (almost) dead then.

Now, it is that when I press the power button it seems to power up but the screen remains blank, fan works and Windows is not booting. It's just a short scratching sound of the DVD drive noise, and that's all.

My question is, what is the recovery procedure in my situation? I tried to look for potential assistance on the Internet and I found a few forum or articles messages indicating that there is some recovery for the different BIOS procedures, but what is the procedure for my BIOS? The only thing I found the 'work' was that if I press the power button now the keys Fn + Esc, computer laptop powers on with power button / stop flashes. But how to force recovery BIOS flashing procedure?

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's really stupid situation now. You will not be able to fix it with a simple recovery operation. BIOS is broken.
In the past I have faced no such situation but on this forum I found a very interesting thread on BIOS recovery. Please take some time and visit this thread.

Maybe this will help you with your machine.

  • Its strange reading problem

I have compiled a DVD in Premiere Pro CS4 using multiple video and audio tracks.  I exported this manufacturer of media via a .m2v and .wav file, that I then put in again using "import calendar" after having selected two of them and produced a DVD.  This DVD play back well on several different PC, with different DVD SW and most DVD players... BUT on some DVD drives noise fades in one off in what appears to be exactly the places I initially collapsed in the Øresund between audio sources in Premiere Pro!

It's almost like the only original audio track got mixed with the discoloration that are associated.   YET the .wav file that I used in still shows no audio variation and plays very much like the composite mixture, I wanted.

The preview in still plays too well.

Can someone explain what is happening?  Is there additional information passed of Premiere Pro in again who somehow got coded on the DVD, such as DVD SOME readers see, but others are not? !!

How can I prevenet happening and get a DVD with an audio track that plays on all players without fading up and down based on the mix I did in Premiere Pro?

Thanks for any help to solve this.

Should I now transfer this question in the Premiere Pro forum?

I would recommend that publish you on the PrPro forum and list the exact project Preset, as well as the layout and the assets used.

Good luck, and I will seek for the PrPro position.

  • Portege R830-10V - DVD drive makes strange noises

    Hi all
I just bought this machine and registered the following question:

If I put in a portable DVD starts very strong buzz. This noise disappears if I put a finger on the reader. In addition, the DVD player starts to chat if I press the keys above the player as the arrow keys. Bothers me a lot.

I called Toshiba support and they said that they can pick up the laptop. But it is possible that this service costs because maybe this problem is part of the specification.

You have any ideas? What can I do?
    Best regards
    Denis

    Hi Denis_3,

Have you noticed this problem with different CD and DVD or just a medium? In General, I also noticed the same behavior, but sometimes just with one disk, so the problem is the drive itself in most cases.

On this path through the forum it s is not easy to say what the reason is but if it s associated with CD/DVD player and the reader needs replace it will cost you nothing because it s during the warranty. Of course, for out of warranty repairs, you must make ;)

  • Loud noise clicking noise when you try to play a DVD

HP Pavilion d4995t desktop PC with High Definition Realteck Audio Ultimate.  Vista Premium o/s.  I play my sound through my HDMI cable to the speakers in my monitor. When I try to play a DVD in the DVD player, I get a loud clicking with no sound from the DVD.   This only happens to the DVD.  CDs play sounds without problem.  If I copy the same files to DVD on the hard drive, I can play from the hard drive and the sound works.  If I connect speakers to the audio output and disable the HDMI output, I can play the DVD in the DVD player and games sound through the speakers without noise.  I ran his tool from Microsoft without success.  Updated all the audio drivers.  I reloaded Vista, which corrected the problem.  But as time passed the problem comes back.  I suspect that the problem was caused by a Microsoft Update. Someone at - it suggestions?

    Hello

  • Qosmio X 870 - 13Z - drive BD/DVD produced strange noise

    I recently bought a Toshiba Qosmio x 870 - 13Z Amazon.de.

I am fully satisfied by this model, but I noticed something 'strange' related to the DVD player. Something new to me I never noticed on other PCs or models of Toshiba. It works very well, since I've mastered the rescue DVD too... I mean like 'strange' is a noise similar to what you usually hear when the Player checks for a dvd just inserted. This noise comes on strange, even if time differences no DVD in the drive. I would like to know if this is normal behavior.

All of you noticed the same noise?

    Thanks, best regards
