I don't have Zone Alarm or any other device filtering uncontrolled, that could be the cause of the problem. When I try to open the Component Services/computer it close the window. I have a guest user and administrator (the Administrator Help). I have re-installed SP3 - thinking that he could fix the registry - it didn't. W. Defender is in the same stage, it cannot be updated. Here the error code 0x80070005. I tried all the suggestions recommends the site MS - not a single one worked.
Hi TaurArian,
Followed by a few minutes: the HD was the reason for my problem. I noticed the constant term, but I thought that he's trying to solve the problem or it's indexing. In any case, when I reformatted it, she not answered for a while and then halfway on the installation of the OS crashed. After several attempts to install the OS, I have concluded that it is a failure of the HD.
Once again; Thank you for your help, I just wanted you to know that.

2 rename the directory called C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution Directory Windows

Method 2: I had success whenever I tried. Under each user in turn and tries to be updated between each. No joy.
Method 3. There is no secpol.msc on this computer (maybe same reason than method 1)
Method 4: RPC Properties window is grayed out but Log on / the Local System account is checkedAny help is welcome

0x800A0046 error when you try to install the updates
From: RCTaubert
I just did a clean install of Vista Ultimate. After downloading all the Vista updates, using Windows Update. More updates installed for a few failed. I reinstalled Office Pro 2007. I tried to install "Microsoft Update so I can get the Vista & Office updates on a single screen.
From the "Windows Update" screen, I clicked on 'Get updates for more products'. Which takes me to '
http://www.update.Microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx?ln=en-us '. I except the "terms of use" and click on "install". I click on UAC to continue and immediately meet with the error message and the next failure: Microsoft Update could not be installed on your computer
Make sure that you log on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group, and then try again.
More troubleshooting options
If your computer is connected to a network and the problem persists, contact your system administrator to see if your Microsoft Update settings are managed by using Group Policy. If your computer is not connected to a network, or if your system administrator has not disabled Microsoft Update, check if the Windows Update service is disabled or stopped. For information about how to start a service, search help and Support on your computer.
Note: If you encounter problems with the installation of Microsoft Update, you can continue to get updates for your computer by going to Windows Update in Control Panel. [Error number: 0x800A0046]

Can not install updates/update history disappeared!
This problem started a few days ago when I tried to install two updates: KB973688 and KB976098. After installation and reboot, configuration updates began at no. 3, 1 and 2 lack. Ebb in Windows Update pane, message-box said updates failed to install.
