I lost all my Inbox.  I have my files sent and all the others, but all of the Inbox is empty.  I can't send or receive emails in Outlook Express.  Help, please.

Using Outlook Express? It is a Vista forum which would bring to Windows Mail. If you use OE and are just in the wrong place, here is the fix.

Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Inbox.dbx} and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • OutLook Express 0x800C0133 error.

I am suddenly unable to download my ISP emails in my Inbox as of March 31 to 21:40 Western Australia time. Open emails in my Inbox, but I can still read in the pane of the window and they are not deleting from my Inbox when I remove them. Also when I click on a new email that a box comes up saying "an acknowledgment was not sent for this mail", but it isn't a request. I tried to restart OE, nothing has changed. I restarted my computer and restarted OE, even when nothing has changed. I removed all the emails in the Inbox and restarted OE, but I am still unable to download e-mail messages from the ISP. I am also now not able to move anything in any of my files. I use Windows XP Professional. Help, please.

You have posted on the forum of wong. Outlook Express is not Microsoft Outlook. It is likely that the message and this answer and all others will be moved to the correct forum by a moderator.

You are most probably see a 0x800C0133 because you have a corrupted Inbox.dbx file. Failure to delete can be due to the corrupted Inbox.dbx box or because you have a corrupted file item.dbx deleted. The two commonfactors causing corrupt are files dbx and interupting the process of compaction before it is completed.

Records of your reception and sent items box only takes messages waiting for resettlement until you move. Have not all the subfolders of the Inbox. In the paragraph following, that I describe a way that helps reduce the retention of messages in the two system created folders, which are therefore subject to message loss and file corruption.

In Outlook Express, place the cursor on the local folders and select the file, folder, New and name your new folder. AAInbox and AASent may be suitable for your needs. Move all messages in your Inbox and your records sent to the local files newly created items. Repeat if you have created subfolders for each folder.

You will still need to look at the overall size of individual files, that too large a results folder in system struggling to manage the file. File corruption occurs most often when the compaction process is interrupted or if any reading or writing to file takes place when Outlook Express closes abruptly. What tends to happen more often with more large files. Others define a maximum file size by specifying a size for example 300 MB, as part of their recommendation. In my opinion, that this may mislead the size may be significantly lower. It depends on the ability of the system to deal with large files.

You can control the process of compaction by at a time that suits you at any time until the account reaches 100.

In Outlook Express, place the cursor on the local folders and select file, work offline, followed by file, folder, Compact everything. Do not attempt to interrupt or stop the process to the end. close Outlook Express when it is finished, but do not rush closing as changes will still be made for a period after the compaction process appears to have completed.

After compaction, ensure that your Outlook Express folders are properly. Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, disk cleanup to empty your trash and delete temporary Internet files. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Try to move all messages from the Inbox to another folder.  Then close OE and delete the inbox.dbx file (hidden) or move it to another directory.  Then, OE will create a new when it first opened.  See if that fixes the problem.  This problem shows your message store is corrupt and he could self-destruct.  It is important to make regular backups of your messages.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6

  • In Outlook Express lost emails and get the 0X800C0133 error

I lost all my emails in my Inbox and now cannot receive emails at all. Error message is 0X800C0133. Need help to restore the email account and also I was wondering if it will be possible to recover the lost emails.

    Thank you

    Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create if you can.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and rename it to Inboxold.dbx. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

Now, you have an Inbox clean and fresh. Check the Windows Recycle Bin and the message OE store folder for a file Inbox.bak. If you have one, note the date of creation and after return before doing anything. If you do not have a bak file, DBXpress is your best chance to retrieve your messages.

You may need to run in the extract from disk Mode if its normal recovery mode fails to find lost messages.

  • When I try to send e-mail messages in Outlook Express 6, I get an error saying "an unknown error has occurred. "Error number: 0x800C0133.

    original title: email problem

I have run outlook express 6 when I hit send and receive button told me how many emails I have to come then gives me an error message like this "an unknown error has occurred. "Account: 'pop3.tsn.cc', server: 'pop3.tsn.cc', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, error number: 0x800C0133 ' I have a tsn e-mail account. can someone help me thanks

You may have a corrupt inbox.  Move all messages from the Inbox to another folder if you can.  Then move the inbox.dbx file in another directory in the message store directory (found via Tools |) Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Storage folder and files are hidden).  OE will create a new one so that should solve the problem.

Alternatively, you can go to file | Identities and setup a new identity, which will give you a new message store) and then add your e-mail account.  If it works fine, you can use the file | Import | Messages to get the messages from the old identity.

In the future see points 2 and 3 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 and make sure that you back up your messages frequently, because cases often get corrupted.
