10.1.2 and 10.1.3 OPatch

All the:

We know that there is a House of 10.1.2 (Tools) and a 10.1.3 (Web OH) House on the middle tier. There are OPatch utility in both houses.

However, when I run the opatch-retail lsinventory, I only receive informaition stock (and patch) of the 10.1.2 House.

When I run the command ' which opatch ", it always returns"SID/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/OPatch/opatch ".

How can I get the output of opatch lsinventory-detail of the House 10.1.3?

Thank you

However, when I run the opatch-retail lsinventory, I only receive informaition stock (and patch) of the 10.1.2 House.

When I run the command ' which opatch ", it always returns"SID/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/OPatch/opatch ".

This is an expected behavior when you source file env of the application.

How can I get the output of opatch lsinventory-detail of the House 10.1.3?

Source file env under directory $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3 .env and question "echo $ORACLE_HOME" check - should'nt return 10.1.3

Thank you

  • October 2014 GI OJVM PSU Combo - 'auto opatch apply' t - it does not stop instances DB?

October 2014 GI OJVM PSU Combo - 'auto opatch apply' t - it does not stop instances DB?

    () 19791428 fix / p19791428)

Our process for patching Oracle 11.2.0.3 GI has not changed for many patch cycles. But I have a few questions about the PSU process October 2014 "Combo" GI which includes OJVM. We will test on the instances of laboratory first, but I wanted to see if somebody beat us to the application of this power supply and can share an overview.

    Our environment:

Oracle grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.3.11 (no CARS; used only for ASM / Oracle Restart)

11.2.0.3 multiple databases of instances per unique host (Redhat Linux x 86-64)

We always manually stop EM agents then changed directory to the level root the dir containing the decompressed PSU and run opatch auto - and run as root, if system administrators grant us temp privs root on a given day. Then:

    opatch auto/home/oracle/patches ocmrf - /u01/app/11.2.0/grid3/OPatch/ocm/bin/ocm.rsp

For post-install, restrict us the stopping, starting, run catbundle.sql, and then 'change the system disable restricted session.

Fast forward to October 2014 GI Combo PSU just released, README Section 'Installation of the patch 2.4.

Step 1: bring down the database on all nodes using the "svrctl stop database...". ». First of all, we will never that. What is a RAC only step? "opatch auto" always stop all Oracle services necessary for us, with the exception noted above, agent of the EM. Don't skip us this step for a GI but not RAC configuration? Again, we use only of GI for ASM.

Step 2: cd in a patch numbered directory (in this case, < patch Home > / 19791428). A bit different than before, but not confusing not.

Step 3: opatch auto apply - ocmrf < com answer file full path >.

Significant for adding 'applies' here in auto opatch syntax? Maybe it was always there, for example July 2014 patch cycle, and I never noticed...

Step 4: cd to a subdirectory of the directory of numbered, for example < patch Home > patch/19791428/19282015

    Step 5: patch OJVM apply:

    opatch apply - local

"Affixes Opatch - local" also run as root?

Step 6: repeat step 2 to 5 on all nodes; Since we GI but no CARS, so there are no other nodes.

Step 7: the last node, elevate dbs on all nodes via 'svrctl start the database '. Believe that we would skip because we are not CARS.

Go to Section 2.5.2: loading modified the SQL files in the database

    1. start each instance then run @postinstall.sql - what is new. It seems also new on him must START each instance. In our last round patch "opatch auto" always showed all Oracle services, including any proceedings. So before our catbundle.sql, we run generally restrict us the stop and then start. "Opatch" behave differently for for example not restart us during this cycle of fix, all Oracle services when you are finished?

    2. run catbundle.sql for each instance; par for the course.

    Thank you.

    Dana

I made the correction today. The statement does not.

    as root, do 1,2,3

    as oracle do the rest.

    should be automatic without apply.

    hope this helps.

The error is misleading and I met usually this when I wrong specified the location of the hotfix.

That group of hotfixes contains actually the 2 patches, and you should not reference the subfolder 13919095 directly, but the location where you have unpacked.

Lets say you have unzipped the patch to/home/oracle/patch, then you should:

    opatch auto /home/oracle/patch -oh ...

    and is not

    opatch auto /home/oracle/patch/13919095 -oh ...

    Thank you and best regards,
    Vikash Chauradia (Junir DBA)

first of all, I feel that if you 10.3.0.2.0 you must install patches for this version and not 10.3.3.0. It could operate a facility but it might give you errors, the best is that you upgrade your olite and then install the patches.

about the error you, I see that opatch found perl. Check where perl is installed .mine is for example
C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\db_1\perl\5.8.3\bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread (im also using win 2003 Server). Add to the path environment variable (may need to restart the server taken into account). You must be very well

your way of D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\perl\*5.8.3*\lib;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\perl\5.8.3\lib\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread is valid? is there perl? Set it to the path variable not perl_home
Let me know if it works

    Jim

It seems that the houses of thugs are as a result of E-Business suite cloning. It seems that the cloning utility does not correctly clean local inventory.

I've been ablle to eliminate rogue homes manually. I've also will be able to regeneraqte a global inventory on this basis, as appropriate

Have you applied all the steps documented in the Readme of the patch?
It seems that you must stop a dbconsole/grid control agent before applying the patch.

  • Opatch

    Hi hussein, helios,

This is my first time to apply a patch to the database :), the command is applied, it is "opatch? You need to connect first to Oracle_Home.
Then I ask Opatch even if there is no database running? The patch is applied only for the core oracle home?

    Thank you very much

    MsSM

    Hi Wil;

Details of optach is mentioned in the following paragraphs. Please check here:

Applications Oracle Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 [ID 798258.1] under the heading "apply the patches for Oracle Application Server 10 g (10.1.2.3)".

If you try to run opatch and have error. As sirini quote check $PATH and make sure $ORACLE_HOME/Opatch path there exsit.

If you give the number of patch we can check it out too.

  • Three questions about patching using opatch

    Version: 10 gr 2, 11g
    OPERATING SYSTEM: AIX 6.1

    1. in a Non-RAC environment, when you use the utility opatch, should I stop the instance connecting the ORACLE_HOME which is be patched?

    2. we have an instance of oracle 11 g running for a test OLTP environment. Datawarehousing guys wanted an instance 11g in this machine. So I used DBCA to create another data base of the ORACLE_HOME of the OLTP database. Inti.ora for DSS and OLTP settings are different, that's why I had to create a separate instance. Then, when I use the opatch to apply a patch, the changes will be reflected on OLTP databases both our SSD. Right?

    3.
On Re: game patch upgradation Opatch vs

    Rober says geir

Running sums opatch is used (for example 10.2.0.4.0 to 10.2.0.4.1)
For upgrades (e.g. 10.1 to 10.2) so YES is used (not opatch)

What does the term rollup ?

    1. Yes, you should stop running on this House instances. The Readme.txt should confirm this, and when you run opatch it will ask you if you stop.

2 opatch patches only the ORACLE_HOME, which is used by the two databases. See the patch Readme.txt if there is no action database (which must be run on two databases)

    3. the little bugs are corrected by small Tufts. To avoid having to apply many small plots Oracle groups in large plots that include several small plots. Often, you can use the parameter "napply" to opatch when you apply these hotfixes.

Always read the documentation for patch before applying it to be sure you understand what it does.
Always run the patch on a test environment before running it on PROD.

  • Critical patch

    Hello

    database: oracle 11 g 2
    OS: Linux

What are oracle criticalpatch? why the need?
How is critcialpatch? no downtime is needed for this?

    Thank you
    Mike.

What are oracle criticalpatch? why the need?

Critical patch update (CPU) patches are cumulative, which means previous security alerts patches Oracle and critical patch updates are included.
You must use the OPatch utility version under the same version of your db. You can download it from OracleMetaLink as latest patch according to the latest version.

To verify access to the inventory, you can use the command
    lsinventory opatch $

How is critcialpatch? no downtime is needed for this?

    Yes, the downtime is necessary.

Install the fix for oracle11g database:
Make sure that your installation of Oracle database is the same version that you apply this hotfix.
Close all instances and listeners associated with the Oracle home that you update
    Set the $PATH and approx.
Define your current directory to the directory where the patch is located, and then run the OPatch utility by entering the following command:
    $cd nnnnnnn
    $opatch applies
    Post installation procedure:
After you apply this hotfix start all instances of database running Oracle home that you are patching
For each database running instance of the Oracle of the House being patched, to connect to the database using SQL * more. Connect as SYSDBA and run the script catcpu.sql as follows

    $cd $ORACLE_HOME/cpu/cpuapr2013
    $sqlplus "virtue sysdba".
    SQL > STARTUP
    SQL > @catcpu.sql
    SQL > QUIT
