10g database on linux 32-bit to 64-bit migration, linux on 11g

Hi Hussein:

Just wanted to get your opinion and any potential risk involved in performing the migration and upgrade in this way. I had to make sure that this process is working 100% without any problems. That's what I intend to do.

Old 32-bit server Linux

1 install 32 bit 11 g on the server
2. switch to the 10 g Database 11 g database level
3 stop the database

New server: Linux 64-bit

1 copy the init.ora, control files and data files to the new server.
2. start the database in upgrade mode and run the utlirp.sql script
3. Once done stop the database
4. start the database in normal mode and run the utlrp.sql script.
5. fill the clone.

Best regards

Bala

Please see (Note: 579234.1 - how to check if the Olap Option has been used recently) in order to check whether the OLAP is used or not. If not, then I think that you can Sketch this step - you can connect an SR to confirm this with the support of the Oracle.

Kind regards
Hussein

    Can I import a dump file to g 10, 32 - bit database exported 64-bit 10g database.

You can export from a 64-bit source database and import it into a database of 32-bit target with a few considerations.

  • 10g RAC on Linux with vmware - time synchronization problem

    Hello

I installed 10g RAC on Linux with vmware server 1.0.5 on my machine.

I knew that the time on the two nodes of the rac is different and goes out of sync.

I set the time on both nodes, but after an hour, they are not synchronized.

Their time is different with the time machine.

Is there a way to put the two nodes at the time of synchronization with the time of the machine?

    Thank you
    Drane

    Hi drane

Yes it is possible by the parameters of a time server ntp or get your servers synchronized with a time provider ntp.

  • OracleTextSearch on a 10g database

Hey all, can the component OracleTextSearch be used with a 10g database? See you soon

I used it successfully on a database 11g only. The documentation says its built specifically for text Oracle 11 g, Oracle 11 g database functionality. Then... I guess I'm saying I think you need DB Oracle 11g, 10g will not help you.

  • SOAP.jar loading in a 10g database

    Hello

We recently moved from an Oracle 9i to 10g database.
On the Oracle 9i, we used the guidelines referred to in the http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/jsp/pdf/JavaDB_Use_Case.pdf to set up communication with a secure Web service.

However after the new basis of these same files JAR no longer seem to be valid. Well, actually only the SOAP.jar load is no longer in the database. She complained about missing classes (OracleSOAPHTTPConnection cannot be resolved) - the "funniest" however is that exactly this class is defined in SOAP.jar if you open the jar file.

Can someone give me advice on what could be wrong--of course miss me something quite fundamental - I'm at a loss for what this could be good.

    Kind regards
    Bo

THIS ANSWER ORIGINAIREMENT GIVE below WAS INCORRECT: (I misread the question, I answered 10g OCP - > 11g OCP not OCA 10g-> 11g OCA)
+ Yes. Exam 1z0-050.  GoTo [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification]... certifications... pass my certification and go down from there. +

THE ANSWER IN MY OPINION IS:

Take 1z0-042 1z0-050 and presented and had checked a course of training approved 10 g +.
    OR
Take 1z0-052 1z0-053 and presented and had checked 11 g approved training courses (assuming that a review SQL has been sent. +)

Verify that the database is added in the/etc/oratab. If it is not added there, don't display it DBCA.

2.) I want to work on using Oracle Enterprise Manager Database control how.

For the configuration of the CBD, you can use the command of the emca and can do,

    export ORACLE_HOME=
    export ORACLE_SID=

  • How to know if a 10g database includes diagnosis/tuning pack license

    Hello

I just got my hands on a series of database 10g on a customer site, but as the 'control_management_pack_access' exists only in 11 g I tried to run some queries online but I still don't know what to hear from him. Here is the result on the production DB

no indication on how to understand if the packs are included or not?

    Thanks in advance

I think that simply verify that the customers license agreement is usually a steer better. It's the Enterprise edition, they will be installed by default, if you do not use them. Oracle has a series of similar scripts to GDR that determine which has been used or not used in case they are a site audit. It is quite easy with older versions for some to inadvertently use AWR etc.

If it's a customer site I guess someone will have a beef about what is and what is not used (what previous DBA or developers had access to the). The client would know that their license is or be able to know of their Oracle customer support rep? I think in 10G, these reports were not unreliable (ready to use) so it would be quite convenient to query and see if snapshots are populated.

There are a few other posts on the forum on the same topic can be more use: dba_feature_usage_statistics are trustworthy?

  • How to copy a database to a new database on Windows 32 bit?

    Hi gurus,

I have a data base of production 10g on 32-bit Windows and I want to make a copy of this database as a Test in the same server?

    Help, please...

    Thank you

    What is your database?

    (1) if the size of the database is small, create a test db to white. The export of Production using expdp and impdp on Test.

    (2) if the database size is hundreds of gb duplicate order use rman. That you are restoring to the same host
in your pfile file configure db_file_name_convert/log_file_name_convert
And also control_files parameter to new location in your new pfile.

  • Oracle 10g on Oracle linux 6.2

    HELO

I'm planing to install Oracle 10.2.0.1 on an Oracle Linux 6.2 64 bit hosted on VMWare workstation.

I found places that describe Oracle linux installation process, but most of them are for linux Redhat 5 or company 5. The main resource I found for Oracle Linux 6 is here:

    http://www.Oracle-base.com/articles/Linux/OracleLinux6Installation.php

But it's not specify Oracle database product package dependencies. The package dependencies are listed [and here | http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32002/pre_install.htm#CIHFICFD], but even for linux Redhat 5 and the company 5.

Is there an official documentation explaining the process of PRECAUTIONS, including dependencies, for version 6.2 of Oracle Linux?

    Thanks in advance!

    Salvation;

1 there is no any oracle product approved for * version 6.x unix
    2. you must use * version 5.x unix
