  People, I spent a few days on this exact same issue awhile back, making my upgrade. I've searched and searched and couldn't find anything that makes sense with regard to this step.

  Finally, a ticket of MOS with the EBS administration team gave me this answer:

  When you run the AutoConfig (which is part of the upgrade process), AutoConfig runs a script called txkcreateACL.sh, which will create the ACL for you:

  So, the quick answer is that nothing should be done related to BSE and ACL. After spending a lot of time to this task, I asked DOC ID 881505.1 to be updated to reflect this important information. Then, they added this line in October 2012:

• Upgrade from 11.2.0.4 to 12.1.0.2.0 database

  I've updated the 11.2.0.4 Oracle database (standard) 12.1.0.2.0 (company) in a server/sand test using DBUA box. After the upgrade when I run a query to see if the database was created as the CBD or not (by selecting CBD in v$ database), I had the 'NO' as an answer to the database. The version of the database shows correct (12.1.0.2.0), but it seems that the option of database container is not available. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

  FYI... I downloaded 12 c (12.1.0.2.0) Oracle on redhat Linux 6.0 to see the different options in 12 c before going for the issuance of permits.

• RMAN catalog upgrade 11.2.0.4.7 with 11.2.0.4.0 database

  One of my new database received from group fixes 11.2.0.4.7.

  When I want to join this real my rman catalog database, I "PL/SQL package RMAN. DBMS_RCVCAT version 11.02.00.03 in the RCVCAT database is not current."

  I can easily do a "catalogue of upgrade", but is there an impact on my other databases running 11.2.0.4.0, which cannot receive the patches group before long.

• Upgrade to 11.2.0.4 with the physics of the standby database

  Dear gurus,

  
  We have the obligation to upgrade databases 11.2.0.1 existing 11.2.0.4 and 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.4 running on AIX boxes. We have physical databases of Eve configured for these databases of different version.

  During the preparation of the documentation for upgrade, we observed that FORCE_LOGGING is disabled for the production databases and observed, there are objects along 350 + with journaling = No. and logging = NULL and patterns are SYS, SYSMAN, APEX_030200, OLAPSYS, XDB, SYSTEM, OIMDBUSER, MDSYS, EXFSYS, WMSYS, ORDDATA, PERFSTAT.

  My query:

  I can still proceed with the upgrade still under the document indicated for "upgrading a database with a physical Standby database in place" without you connect the data dictionary objects will be not be updated pending database.

  Can you please let me know your suggestions on this please?

  You can switch to 10.2.0.5 by mentioning:

  Apply the patch on the ORACLE_HOME 11.2.0.3 after you install the software and before you begin the upgrade.

  Run the script after the upgrade.

  I have a 3.2-> upgrade problem 4.1 associated with error handling for the damaged database links.
  
  I have a conditional button Exists on a page that contains a SQL query to related tables. However, for 10 minutes every day where the target of the link database becomes a cold backup, the query fails. In the apex 3.2 old, I just had an error within the region where the button is located but otherwise, the page was still visible:
  
  "Is not valid/not exists condition: ORA-02068: following a serious error of MYDBLINK ORA-01034: ORACLE not available ORA-27101: there is no shared memory realm."
  
  However, in the apex 4.1.0.00.32 I get the following unhandled error and click 'OK' brings me to the edit page when logged in as a developer.
  
  that is, the page cannot run at all so that the links to the database fail to this one area.

  It was my fault, I forgot that the code will be compiled on the fly which already fails if the table/view of deletion is not accessible. Nice that you found yourself workaround.

  Just wanted to get your opinion and any potential risk involved in performing the migration and upgrade in this way. I had to make sure that this process is working 100% without any problems. That's what I intend to do.
  
  Old 32-bit server Linux
  
  1 install 32 bit 11 g on the server
  2. switch to the 10 g Database 11 g database level
  3 stop the database
  
  New server: Linux 64-bit
  
  1 copy the init.ora, control files and data files to the new server.
  2. start the database in upgrade mode and run the utlirp.sql script
  3. Once done stop the database
  4. start the database in normal mode and run the utlrp.sql script.
  5. fill the clone.

  Please see (Note: 579234.1 - how to check if the Olap Option has been used recently) in order to check whether the OLAP is used or not. If not, then I think that you can Sketch this step - you can connect an SR to confirm this with the support of the Oracle.

  For upgrades of database in general, I strongly suggest you start with Oracle 10 g, companion of upgrade, which is available on Metalink note 466181.1:

  You can skip the part of the doc where it plans to install 11 GR 2, since you already have installed binary files.

  (2) every patch and patch contains an associated README file. Ignore that at your own risk.

  Upgrade 10g and 11g on the BSG, an ORACLE_HOME and two DB instances, i.e. TEST & PROD.  I'm confused (issue actually maybe nonsense).

  I call DBUA twice for each DB Instances of the NEW_HOME?

  We have RHL5, where should we go for RHL6 your friendly opinion? But so that maybe it will be installed on the new machine and then export/import process will be adopted for database schemas, isn't?

  Yes, you will need to run dbua twice... once for each database.

  Regarding RHEL 6.  You can install on a new computer, then export/import...or

  (1) if the database on separated then drives clone disks at the SAN level before submitting to the new host.  You will need to re - install or clone the records containg the oracle_home as well.  Also the oratab and oraInst.loc files.

  (2) make a duplicate RMAN

  (3) closing the db and copy all files across to the new host, if the database is located on a file system.
