• Canvio Connect II power management

  I have a Canvio Connect II 3 TB drive and I'm annoyed by the fact he's going into a deep sleep after a few minutes of inactivity, and it takes a lot to wake up to the top.   Hi, same problem here with my two hard Toshiba USB drives (Stor.e Canvio 3.5 "Desktop, 2 TB + 4 to). I searched all over the internet, came to exactly the same conclusion as you: many 'solutions' with third party software which works only during the session or on the same system, so the same problem could reappear as soon as you connect your HD to a different device, re-install the operating system or whatever.   Thus, it seems that Toshiba support won't help. I doubt that the problem is really "because of the way it was built', i.e.: caused by the material itself. or at least, I doubt that, even if that's the case, it can't be fixed by providing a new firmware. I guess that Toshiba DOES simply not invest time and money to solve the problem. Accordingly, like you, I never by a hard Toshiba will lead again if they don't change this attitude. Good luck anyway!

  "Group Policy" would tend to indicate that you're under XP Pro.

  Given that starts the "Group Policy Editor": (XP Home does not have Group Policy Editor)
  Start-> Run-> "gpedit.msc".

  Navigate to:
  Computer configuration-> administrative templates-> system-> system restore

  Look in the window on the right and make sure that 'disable them system restore' and 'Turn off Configuration' is on "not configured".  If not, double-click on them and their defined this way.

• Unable to connect to Device Manager

  I just bought this Clip + 4 GB yesterday for my upcoming birthday, I connect the device to the computer and my device manager will only read my Clip + not at all. I mean not even a usb detection or whatever it is. I downloaded the firmware and put the unit in and it says please plug in device player. I looked in the device via a right-click Manager and selecting manage desktop and which does nothing, it displays the listed device, but how come it does not appear as being read by my OS. IM using Win XP SP2. I have not the slighest clue what Im doing, I spent all morning trying to read messages from the forum for help and couldn't get a direct output to get an idea of what I'm doing. When I plug the device on my computer using the USB of the msg on the screen says 'writing '. Unlike my USB key, I can just plug it into the computer and it will say new detected device.

  Sigh, worst comes situation that I might as well return to the store that I bought. It's really pathetic, I spent 4 hours trying to get this thing to connect. Too much frustration.

  If you react like your USB, go into the settings > system settings > USB mode and select MSC manually.

  Connected in this way your computer "sees" as a similar storage device. You can simply drag & drop files from your computer to the music folder (you will probably need to tell Windows to "uncover" hidden folders & files) on your Clip +.

  I use Acer Aspire 4937 Windows Vista and when I load the Secure Application Manager it does not connect. I'm running under administrator and have disabled all my firewall. The icon is white instead of blue shooting.

  I read a response from forum suggested running in "safe mode with network" and the truly connected secure application manager! But now how do I get it connected in "normal" mode.

• ESXi 5.5 - unable to connect to the management network

  I've been using ESXi for v3.  I have a small cluster of HP DL360 G5 where I was using ESXi 5.1 update 1.  I brought a new DL 360 G5 into the mix and decided to install 5.5.  After the installation, I'm going to set up the management network as usual and even after a reboot, I'm unable to access the site via http or the vSphere client.  For help, I installed the version of HP with CIM providers and I installed the stock VMware 5.5 with current pilot Rollup and they all exhibit the same behavior.  It starts fine, but I can't connect to the management network.  Curiously, however, they address IP does not respond to a ping.  I installed the 5.1 update 1 on the same server and it works fine.  Does anyone have an idea on what's going on?  Are there recommended troubleshooting steps?  It's strange to me because the ESXi has always been very reliable on HPs.

  OK so Essbase is now running, so you should be able to test a connection through Maxl, run c:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startMaxl.bat

  You should try to connect with a user like Scott, HR, etc. of the OE. EM needs a connection which should have a priv select any dictionary is given to the user. Try to give this private and post your comments.

• How to allow anonymous access to rights-managed form?

  I have rights enabled form and created a simple strategy which expires the form after a certain date.

  Now the everytime I open the form, I need to provide identification livecycle information.

  

  What I want is to have a form that will be available to the public, but expires after a certain date, after which they must download an updated release of the form.  The public should not see this connection because they will not setup as a user.

  How do I configure this?

  When you create the policy, rather that add you users to a policy, select 'Add the anonymous user' button (see screenshot).  Expiring the document at a certain date, set the period of validity of the document (General settings in the policy).

  If you want to do with the currently protected document, you'll need to 'remove' the policy and again apply whichever is configured for users 'anonymous '.
