11 GR 2 (10.2.0.3) RDBMS and G.I - installation question

Hello

I have to build two new servers with the following configuration:

Platform: RHEL 6.2 64bits

Oracle RDBMS: 11 GR 2 (11.2.0.3)

Grid infrastructure (ASM): 11 GR 2 (11.2.0.3)

I downloaded the files for RDBMS 11.2.0.3 but I couldn't find grid Infra 11.2.0.1 download. I found a doc of MOS (ID 1362393.1) that says to download the Group of hotfixes that contains the "Oracle Grid Infrastructure (including Oracle ASM, Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Restart)".

I have two questions:

  • If I install 11.2.0.3 for RDBMS, will I have to install 11.2.0.3 for grid below as well GOLD can also install 11.2.0.1? What is the best approach?
  • Is - this group of patches (for grid below the MOS) above a full install OR I need to install 11.2.0.1 first and then the patch for 11.2.0.3?

Thank you very much!

The GI software version must be the same version of the database, or superior - it may not be a lower version. See MOS Doc 337737.1

  • Notice of email of the user (RDBMS) and default application

    Hello

I have successfully configured notifications by e-mail for the workflow 11.1.2 planning I'm having a little challenge, instead of asking the end user at the entrance to their email in file-> Preferences-> planning, want it to load directley from the RDBMS and much that force all users to use the default settings of the application.

Appreciate to let me know what is the name of the table and the steps to follow?

    Thank you

This information is stored in the HSP_USER_PREFS table, although any changes made to the table may need planning must be restarted.
You can also use LCM to export information to update and then import it.

  • Change the RDBMS and the server

    Hi Experts,

    My question is a bit strange;

I migrated planning, Shared services, essbase, BI + and configured with 'A RDBMS' on ' server 002 "- it works fine." "

    I have three options:

Option 1: I would use (migrated Planning, Shared services, essbase, BI +) with 'B of RDBMS' on server 003 - is desirable (as in 'B of RDBMS' old production RDBMS server 001)

    Option 2: I can move 'A RDBMS' server then - 003
    (a) reconfigure the DB server and app 'A RDBMS' with a new connection to the server. -It should work

    Option 3:
    (a) assumes that metadata Planning changed as I'm not sure. I can migrate 'A RDBMS' 003 server and reconfigure the Server DB and app with new details of server connection

    (b) later I can crush the single scheme of planning with the last metadata about server 003 (inside the RDBMS (A) and then simply update the database of planning.

    Please advice

If you want to do a hyperion environment to a different database server while there is not a problem and you just point the configuration for the new information to the database,
If you want to move a diagram to another environment hyperion then it would be an isssue you cannot simply copy the schema as hostnames etc of the hyperion environment are different and embedded in the patterns.

  • Best way to migrate (RDBMS and Essbase) planning data between systems

Hello. I need to migrate data from planning (fact data relationship of Planning (time and text comments) and Essbase). Migration of Essbase is relatively simple (migration of Essbase dimension data and then export and reload fact Essbase data) but I'm not sure on the best way to migrate relational data 100% done. Should I do a dump of the schema and then migrating the other system of planning? Thank you.

    It comes to 11.1.1.3.

Like you're on 11.1.1.3 I suggest to use LCM to migrate the planning elements.
An example on how is available at:-http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/hyp_ss/SS11.1.1_PLNLCM/PLN_LCM_OBE.htm

If more information is required please request and I will pay, as you can see that there are more than enough memory space and disk for the installation. The only exception being that I use a different "oraInventory', 'gridhome' and 'oraBase. I looked closely at the exit and the problem seems to be a file called "ljavavm12", I highlighted the line in bold above in the log output. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Alex

    Solved my problem,

to any other person with the same problem, here is how it was resolved:

ljavavm12 belongs to libjavavm12.a, for some reason this file has not been copied in the $GRID_HOME, after having done so through fine.

    "cp /opt/oragrid/javavm/jdk/jdk7/lib/libjavavm12.a/opt/oragrid/lib / '.

    Alex,

  • difference between compatible.rdbms in asm and compatible parameter database

    Hi gurus,

Here, I have little doubt. What is the difference between compatible.rdbms and the compatible parameter database.

We have a 2 node RAC on solaris. When I checked at the ASM instance level I found compatible.rdbms has the value 10.1.0.0.0 and compatible.asm 11.2.0.0.0 and compatible database is set to 11.2.0.0.0.

Please guide me it will make a difference. Or I have to change the compatible.rdbms to a higher value.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Vincent Poorna Prasad.S

When compatible.rdbms is set to 10.1.0.0.0, this means that the instance ASM (version 11.2.0.0.0) is compatible to support lower versions of instances of RDBMS from version oracle 10.1.0.0.0.

If you don't want the ASM instance in support of the lower courts of RDBMS version, you can change the setting.

  • 10205 RDBMS House with 10204 CRS

    Hi friends,

We have an obligation to upgrade the CRS and RDBMS and ASM House 10204 to 10205 on my server linux 3 knots. To this end, I'm not trying to upgrade existing homes 10204 directly. Instead, I am trying to install a new version of base:

    (1) install 10201 base for ASM and RDBMS House (on the same server where the 10204 crs asm RDBMS is there)
    (2) improve the base ASM 10201 and RDBMS to 10205 using the patches 8202632 group
    (3) upgrade of CRS later during the weekend.

My reason for this in this way is that I can save time during the window of real failure by upgrading just of CRS at that time. But when I get to the point of application of the Group of hotfixes 10205, in the Verification of the prerequisites section useful, I am getting following error:

    Oracle Clusterware Version check
The current version of oracleclusterware is not 10.2.0.5. Recommendation: you must upgrade all nodes to the Oracle Clusterware at 10205... You must pass all the nodes in the Oracle Clusterware at 10205 before proceeding with this installation.

What I've done is I've checked the verified user and proceeded to the installation and the upgrade to 10205. So my question would be:
    Is what I done correct?
It I just stopped installation and first run CRS updated and then do this upgrade?
It will cause problems more later as ASM or RDBMS home runs later when the CRS is actually upgraded to 10205?

I was checking this note "Oracle Clusterware - ASM - version of database compatibility (Doc ID 337737.1() .
'and 'version Oracle Grid Infrastructure/Clusterware (CRS) should be the latest version down to the 4th digit combination at any time. This means that you first put Grid Infrastructure/Clusterware. »

I agree with that, but I will not use the 10205 aSM and RDBMS homes until after the CRS improved 10205 weekend. This weekend all the houses will undergo 10205 only. Its only now the time to install it separately as I need to know if its ok to do it like that or if the problems in the future...

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

the installation program checks the CRS 10.2.0.5... This is for safety, not that you forget first put the clusterware and simply use a newer version.
The installation of the software itself doesn't change - it will install exactly the same thing, any CRS version you use.
So in your case, it should be absolutely okay (just make sure that you are not using anything out of the House, 10.2.0.5 before moving the clusterware;).

However I'm not Oracle support, so if you want to be 100% sure that I suggest you open a SR.

  • 2100 message not found; No product message file = RDBMS, installation = UL

    Hello

I'm running sqlldr. But I got this message:

    2100 message not found; No product message file = RDBMS, installation = UL;

I checked my ORACLE_HOME and its value is: C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server which includes records BIN, RDBMS,...

I checked my C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\RDBMS and there is no ORAUS. MSG inside the folder. If this is the solution where I can find this file? I read in the forums in order to copy it into the directory of the server to the client, but I couldn't find anywhere on my machine.

    Thank you
    M

You should look for ORAUS. MSB and not ORAUS. MSG: this file must be located in C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\RDBMS\mesg\oraus.msb

  • ODI:i need to get a RDBMS data and put it in a file with EBCDIC enc

I need to get data from an RDBMS and put it in a file with EBCDIC encoding using ODI
I know how to get data and put it in the file using ODI, but do not know how to EBCDIC coding the file using ODI

    Hello

    Its very simple.

You must specify the encoding code in the JDBC URL of the server in the topology Manager data file.

    For example,.

    JDBC:SNPs:DBFile? ENCODING =

You can get your codes coding supported by ODI from here,

  • The best way to move the physical servers in a data center

    Hello everyone.

We have 3 physical database servers and you want to move to a data center.

These servers are primary servers 2 with the infrastructure of grid and race of RDBMS oracle as stand-alone server + ASM and a standby with three instances server = an ASM + 2 instances of RDBMS for the primary servers corresponding instance.

Each said server has 2 interfaces eth - one to be used with DG and another to deal with the demands of the customers.

The standby server has three interfaces eth - two of them are used with DG ant the third to process requests from clients.

So the question is what would be the best and most simple way to move all the data from these servers to the cetre of data taking into account the fact that there are three corresponding virtual server already exists whith the sama of RDBMS and Linux version.

    Hello again;

I moved a little smaller primary and waiting that my slip was something like this:

    1. on the primary database see the standby destination.

    2. on the current expectation cancel recovery and closing of the database.

    3. create directories of database on the new server.

    4. edit the tnsnames.ora on the primary current

    5. Add the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora on the new server.

    6. move the password files and spfile on the new server.

    7 Tnsping both servers

8 use scp to move the database to the new server.

9 start the recovery, and check gap

    Create a scp of SQL

    set the position

    Set feedback off

    set pagesize 100

    set linesize 400

    Select 'scp'. B.SID |' server_name:' | B.SID as newname from v$ datafile;

    Select 'scp'. B.SID |' server_name:' | B.SID as newname from v$ controlfile;

    Select 'scp'. a.Member |' server_name:' | a.Member as newname v$ logfile;

  • Improvement of the database from 9i to 11.2.0.4

    Hi all

I want to upgrade a database independent 9i to 11.2.0.4. Please suggest prerequisites and post the steps of the task to the high-gradation or share a link.

Can I directly go from 9i to 11.2.0.4?

Import/Export or Rman which will be better please suggest?

Please let us know the steps in the import/export method?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Arya

    Arya,

If you chose to export / import method, you might need to know what is the disadvantage and advantage. If you do the fragmentation of import/export segment will be deleted (it is good), that once we offer the downtime and run two tasks (1.upgrade 2) Fragmentation), but you will need to spend time to complete the upgrade of database.

You may need to consider your database size and the total downtime you get?

We will be able to parallelize export and import and finish faster. example, you can split the table export and import / diagram of first level (if you have a PK/FK relationship you need to retain the same).

Here are the questions in my mind.

    (1) 9i database runs in Server A, you want to upgrade this database on the same server? If so have you checked OS and RDBMS software certification?

    (2) If you want to be updated on the same server by using export / import, then you have enough space to create the new database and to import?

    (3) If you perform import on 11 g that is created on the same server (SERVER A), then you have RAM / CPU to speed up the process?

    (4) you can consider database upgrade (on the same server) using the manual upgrade or DBUA, which has no more than space and your upgrade will of--> current in 9.2.0.8 to 11.2.0.4 version

    (5) manual / DBUA may take time depends on component installed in this database and the invalid invalid objects (if you have very less upgrade then total until 11.2.0.4 can take 2 hours max).

If you think that you must upgrade the database to the new server, then you may need to review below.

    (a) how the data will be moved to the new server? is where your network speed is good?

    (b) will pass it data before the upgrade? OR after the upgrade to upgrade?

    (c) you can generate waiting for the current version--> that will move data before the end of the upgrade, if once graceful failover you can upgrade of database using DBUA / manual (described in point 5)

    (c) If you want to move the database after upgrade--> you can upgrade the database and build the day before for this in the new database on the new server (this may not be a good option)

    (d) If you want to move database during the upgrade--> you can export and import (this also takes time and your networks in question).

In my opinion, export and import in a good option if you are very good to have the right amount of downtime and if you want to achieve upgrade and fragmentation at the same time.

Post your question if you have

    Thank you

  • How to connect to the database without sqlclient soa

    Hi all

I have a very simple question.

I need to write a shell script to get some stats for bpel instances of database as part of the daily health check.

The problem is in our area of unix server, any customer database is not installed.

Sql client is present as part of the installation of SOA that we can use to create the connection to the database? or by any mode of access to the shell database.

    Thanks in advance,

    Bob

    Hi Bob, there.

most of the components in the FMW stack including SOA infrastructure rely on pure JDBC to talk to RDBMS and as I know there is no client Oracle installed in slot the FMW home (after installing SOA Suite).

One possibility would be to use the Oracle Instant Client and use its tools from your shell scripts. It's a bit unzip and run Setup.

    HTH,

    A.

  • Questions HAIP

    Hello

I have a little questions about the le parameters option HAIP redundant Interconnection offered since version 11.2.0.2 and later on the GI.

Reading some MOS Note () NOTE: 1210883.1 - Grid Infrastructure redundant Interconnect and ora.cluster_interconnect.haip) said it is recommended to use this option instead of using options as limited to the operating system level.

(( However, the highly available IP (note) HAIP) FAQ for version 11.2 () Doc ID 1664291.1) say:

HAIP, allowing redundant clusters of interconnection network adapters on the cluster nodes without requiring any OS level liaison, grouping or grouping of network cards.

HAIP provides a layer of transparency between several (NIC) Network Interface cards on a given node, which are used for the cluster_interconnect that is used by RDBMS and ASM instances.

However it is not used for the pulsation of the Clusterware network.

What it means that the heart rate won't don't not in high availability?

And are not do not the ability to perform failover on another network card.

    MI version is 12 c (12.1.0.2)

    Can he say that?

    Thank you very much

    Arturo

    Hello

You can check with your hardware vendor (server) if it takes support LACP & LAG.  You will need to configure LACP wich switch LACP support.

Some OS have it native... (for example, Solaris, AIX etc..)  x86_64 platform have a software player to configure (such as Dell, HP, etc.).

If you have feature LACP in your approx... You must use HAIP.

  • Home ASM binary files are deleted on a two node rac 10205

    Hello

Binary ASM home have been removed during the withdrawal of 2nd node that is not a fully functional node.

We have DR database running on node 1 which is declining due to lack of binary asm and upward.

Any way to reinstall the binary files for the HOME of ASM and put the database online?

    Appreciate your help in advance.

    Thank you

    REDA

You don't need to install anything. In your statement, the same binary files have been used for RDBMS and ASM instances. So you can start your ASM from your RDBMS instances, no problem. You'll need to build a pfile of course, wth INSTANCE_TYPE = ASM and an appropriate framework for AMS_DISKSTRING and ASM_DISKGROUPS.
